closed captioning by closed captioning services,inc volunteers are heading out for another day to search for sierra lamar. police are examining potential new leads. i'm cheryl jennings. >> i'm eric thomas in for kristen sze law enforcement is looking for clues in nearby waters. terry is the weather affecting the search? >> reporter: the searchers seemed to have caught a break they have light occasional showers all morning, nothing too heavy some new images sonar images taken from reservoirs if they see anyt they will send in divers for a further investigation.

speaking of searching that is what is going on the end of san bruno avenue, volunteers on foot. >> i'm not losing hope. and i never will. >> reporter: hope is the only option for marlene lamar as searchers move into selected areas in southern santa clara county. 15-year-old sierra disappeared march 15th, on her way to the bus stop. volunteer frank harper is responsible for solving an abduction in 1999 one that took place one block from sierra's search headquarters. in october of that year he saw a 15-year-old girl slide out of a car in the middle of a field. he decided to check it out that decision lead to three arrests and three convictions. >> before i could get out of the van to help she is up to my window saying she had been kidnapped and raped by these three guys. >> reporter: sierra's

disappearance is weighing heavy on the peep in the community. >> i'm playing. >> reporter: she drops her 13-year-old daughter at the bus stop now the search center, 6:00 every morning. now she is taking medication to ease her anxiety. >> for me it is very like, i don't want this to happen to my kids. >> reporter: nora hernandez says she will be on edge until sierra is found. sierra's mom is begging the reunion comes soon. >> i'm praying for her search return, please. it is not about the person getting in trouble. i just want my daughter home. >> reporter: we are being told that deputies are going out in the rural areas of southern santa clara county on dirt bikes looking for the clue that could break this case. more than 1200 tips have come in. so far, no person of interest in the disappearance of sierra lamar. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news.

weather may not be a factor now, but it could be later in the search. >> things are changing let's check in with lisa argen. good morning. here's emeryville look at these cumulus clouds looks like a pretty sky they are creating showers and thunderstorms around the bay. right now here's the north bay you can see pretty good cell developing north of inverness, also fort ross, east of highway 101, st. helena, light showers. around glen allen, st. helena road adobe road south of roanoke park off the coast from gender you can see a little activity if know -- from jenner, you can see a little activity. more development north and west of us rotating through the bay area later today. the rest of the bay snow in the sierra, a couple of feet expected. i'll have details and timing later.

funeral services are underway this morning for an east bay father and daughter killed saturday after an suv slammed into their bikes. 41-year-old solaiman nuri and his 9-year-old daughter hadessa will be laid to rest at a traditional muslim service in antioch. >> reporter: hundreds are here to help lay to rest the members of the nuri family. people have come from as far way as the east coast for this service. solaiman nuri had seven brothers, it was a large family. they are holding a traditional islamic burial. this cemetery has a section set aside for muslims and designed it so the body can face east toward mecca. traditionally, women don't usually attend the burial. today it looks like they've made exception. the funeral director says possibly because there's such a young victim and also because they are accommodating

people from a variety of faiths from all segments of the population from all over concord are here. cemetery workers tell us it is one of the largest turn outs they've h >> it says how loved they were, how important to our community, how our hearts are broken for this family and we want to come together to help them and show how hadessa and her father helped our community and made us stronger as people. >> reporter: 41-year-old solaiman and hadessa were killed saturday morning hit by an suv when they were out for a morning bike ride. the site where they were killed has turned into a memorial site and it continues to grow. people keep stopping by and bringing flowers. the teenaged driver who was accused of hitting them will likely face vehicular manslaughter charges, according to sources in the district attorney's office. investigators are still working on gathering evidence. the family has set up a

memorial fun interested in donating we've put all the information on abc7news.com -- amy hollyfield, abc7 news. other news, san francisco police investigating a rollover accident that may have involved a hit-and-run driver. we showed you the scene at the embarcadero and green street on the morning news at 5 a.m.. police say that shortly before this rollover accident the driver was seen hitting several vehicles in the area of polk and broadway. right now he's at san francisco general being treated for injuries. investigators say he's being detained on suspicion of drunk driving. nobody was hurt. a man charged with seriously injuring a boy in a hit-and-run accident last year following a giants phillies game is being sentenced in san francisco right now. under a plea 23-year-old andrew vargas will spend a year in jail, five years probation. last august he ran over 10-year-old ryan white.

vargas had been drinking, drove his white suv into a woman and slammed into several cars. he has expressed remorse. because of credit for time already served he could be released as early as june. groundbreaking will begin on bart's extension to san jose tomorrow. later today the agency will put a car on a track and drive it to site -- rather a truck and drive it to site of the future barry esa bart station for an afternoon ceremony. the extension will cost almost three billion dollars. when finished the bart extension will run nearly 16 miles from fremont to the berryessa area of east san jose the project will create more than 1600 construction jobs. construction slated to be finished 2015. developing news in richmond. police investigating a hit-and-run that has taken the life of a bicyclist.

the incident happened 1:30 this morning near barrett and 33rd street the intersection right there from sky 7. police are saying they are not only trying to identify a suspect but they are also trying to identify the victim. authorities say the victim is a latino man in his 20s, five feet tall weighing about 150 pounds, riding a blue and purple 21 speed bike. if you have any information please give the richmond police department a call. still ahead, developing news out of southeast asia. two large earthquakes sparked panic in indonesia and surrounding countries. next what geologists are warning about after the intense shaking. waiting for word. major announcement expected soon in the trayvon martin shooting investigation in florida. how it could change the case.

in indonesia geologists are predicting large aftershocks for weeks maybe mohs in the wake of the 8.6 quake. more on a very large aftershock that already happened and the threat of tsunami. authorities issued a tsunami watch for every country around the indian ocean after that 8.6 quake and 8.2 aftershock but that warning was lifted a few hours later. i spoked with a geologist in colorado. he said the largest wave

report they've seen was 3 1/2 feet that reassuring information came later and it was almost inconsequential for those with memories of the 230,000 people who were lost in the last big quake and tsunami. a sue pham any never materialized but the shaking -- a tsunami never materialized by the shaking was enough. >> when the first quake struck there was so much panic and pandemonium. >> reporter: tens of thousands file piled on to the roads to evacuate. >> children and women crying. >> reporter: in the first moments they could not have known the nature of the quake meant it did not pose as much of a tsunami threat as the deadly 2004 quake magnitude 9.1. >> because the motion is horizontal it is not moving the sea floor the water column as much as a vertical. >> reporter: u.s. geologist

went on to explain because the temblor was centered hundreds of miles off the coast the shaking damage on land should be minimal. no serious injuries have been reported. video seems to indicate some were hurt, most likely by falling on thes. there have already been more than half a -- half a dozen aftershocks in the four to five magnitude range. more can be expected. some as large as magnitude six or seven. we have new information about the trayvon martin shooting case that will be released before the end of the week. in florida the special prosecutor will be making a major announcement by friday night. it has prompted more information that george zimmermann will soon be arrested. he claimed he shot martin in self-defense. many claim it was racially motivated. this morning the u.s. attorney general spoke about the investigation. >> i know that many of you are greatly and rightly concerned about the recent shooting

death of 17-year-old trayvon martin. a young man whose future has been lost to the ages. three weeks ago the department of justice launched an investigation into this incident which remains open at this time. it prevents mfre talking in detail about this matter. >> both of zimmermann's attorneys quit the case yesterday saying they had not been able to reach their client for days. new this morning, mass murderer charles manson who is serving a life sentence has been denied parole again. a state parole board made that decision within the last hour. this is the most recent picture of manson now 77. not attend today's hearing. undercurrent law inmates can be denied the opportunity to reapply for parole up to 15 years. that means manson could be 92-years-old before he's eligible for another hearing. he was convicted for gruesome 1969 slayings of actress sharon tate and six other people.

less than an hour from now a group investigating the pepper spraying of protesters at uc davis will release a report last november police officers sprayed demonstrators in the face with pepper spray as they sat protesting tuition hikes. a deal was made so only the officers seen in the video a can of orange pepper spray will be named in the report. the names of the other officers will be blacked out. the report will be released online at noon. we'll have a link on abc7news.com. you can find it under see it on tv. meteorologist lisa an argen with the forecast -- lee gorgeous from the inside looking out. showers, thunderstorms, breezy winds ahead for the afternoon. i'll have your forecast. keep out. the wild animals keeping some golden gate park trails off-limits.

right now trails san francisco's golden gate park are closed to dogs because of concern over coyotes. last week a neighbor walking her dog said they were
