creating a homeless shelter in the building they took over yesterday. police shattered those dream this morning. from the outside it looked like it was going to be an aggressive attack, dozens of san francisco police officers wearing riot gear, carrying shields and batons at 5:00 in the morning moved in on a building filled with protesters. those inside say it was calm. >> one walked in and it was like how many people are in here? it was not like busting down doors, , at all. >> reporter: kgo radio reporter jenna lane was in the building interviewing protesters when police came in. she was detained for two hours along with everyone else inside and then released. she was able to record some of the officer's voices as the eviction started. >> at one time i heard one officer say something like all you have to do is stay right there that was about as tense

as it got. >> reporter: police did not have to use force, no one resisted arrest. they prepared for violence because of what happened yesterday. two protesters stood on the roof at turk and gough and threw bricks and metal pipe to the ground hitting one demonstrators. police only made one arrest. >> the operation conducted in the early morning hours to minimize impact to public safety. >> reporter: the catholic church owns the two buildings. this is the second time this has happened. >> we are going to review security and see that we can keep them out. i really hope the protesters get it at some point. >> reporter: as some of the protesters were released from jail they told us they felt good about what they did. >> we were able to house individuals who needed housing that night. we were able to safety and security for those being housed. >> reporter: he did not want to give us his name. police tell me some are getting a citation and released. others will be booked. they are still sorting out the

who and why? one option is whether they can charge someone with a more serious offense if this is their second time to do this. those who did this in april and again yesterday, may face a more serious consequence. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. abc7 news reporter terry mcsweeney took a close-up look at the damage in oakland. >> reporter: now you can see some of it for yourself this is the california bank and trust, 20th street and franklin, large windows knocked out last night. very few buildings were hit this bank was the bank up the street the demonstrators were very selective and very destructive. the light of day ushered in cleanup time at this wells fargo bank on franklin. some windows spared, some taken out this picture fromwyaú last night shows how within window was smashed with a wrench. at the california bank and

trust -- more and larger windows busted atm machines smashed at both locations. wells fargo issued this statement: some of the businesses that were spared including this burger king may have been saved by their clear statement of support for the occupy movement. they store had a similar sign in its window. some of the crowd were intent on damaging something after day of on and off violence a crowd of 300 assembled at frank ogawa and were edging closer to spiralling out of control according to police. >> we gave them a time and area when they had to leave at that point i made the decision to authorize arrests. >> reporter: all told 25 were realized, one for felony assault on a police officer,

today dive teams are searching new lakes looking for a missing morgan hill teenager who disappeared more than six weeks ago. sierra lamar didn't show up for school march 16th. divers from the santa clara sheriff's department are searching labors today. they are using sonar which detects objects below the surface. the teams will check reservoirs next. bart police are trying to track down a gunman who carjacked a woman at the el cerrito station this morning before 7:00 as the woman was parking her car. the carjacker approached her flashed a small gun, robbed her and took her lexus. police only have a vague description of the suspect. they are asking anyone who may have seen something to call them. overseas, conflicting accounts as to whether a blind chinese activist holed up in

look at the mess left after an early morning car accident in millbrae a driver hit several trees, shopping carts and a fire hydrant before coming to a stop that crash left a watery mess and a lot to cleanup. the driver was taken to a nearby hospital. he told officers fell asleep at the wheel. a mother from new jersey has been charred with degree child endangerment after -- after allegedly letting her 5-year-old daughter use training bed. she pleaded not guilty this morning in superior court her attorney claims her daughter never entered the tanning
