family. >> mehserle has contended all along the shooting was accidental. he claims he thought he was shooting grant with his taser. >> berkeley officials are trying to compromise a deal to end the occupation of university owned land by protestors wanting to use it for urban farming. amy hollyfield is live in albany. what kind of compromise? >> reporter: they are working on the plan right now. they want to take steps to ensure that urban farming continues here. so far they have taken steps to end what these people are doing here, but as you can see the occupiers are still on this piece of land. >> a lock on the gate and police posted at the entrance haven't stopped the occupiers to go on the property in albany known as the gill tract. >> u.c. officials have tried to shut the protest down. the water has been turned off.

university has sued the group and now has locked the gate. they say the tactics are having somewhat of an impact. >> the crops definitely been suffering. we 6 all the irrigation set up but unfortunately we don't have water to run it. >> but they are not discouraged. tools and water is being hauled over the fence. there are police officers here along with private security guards hired by the university but they are outnumbered and allowing it to happen. >> at first, i don't know what they are doing. i think they are in a sticky situation. >> everybody feels so good about what we're doing here. even a police presence is hard to bring down the move. >> a university spokesman says they are committed to keep urban farming on the land and wants to negotiate a peaceful ending with this group. >> we would like to have a land.
