closed captioning by closed captioning services,inc nurses are holding a one-day strike at 11 hospitals over working conditions and money issues most of those hospital belong to the sutter health corporation. good morning i'm cheryl jennings. and i'm kristen sze. amy hollyfield joins us live from the big rally in berkeley. >> reporter: good morning. it may look like a lot of nurses are out here, but believe it or not, officials tell us they are pleased with this turnout. they tell us 57% of their nurses crossed the picket lines and went to work. they say that is up from the last strike. hospital officials believe

that nursing support for these strikes dwindling. the nurses who are out here say they are dedicated to this fight. this is the fourth nurses' strike in the past nine months. neither side thinks the other is being reasonable. both sides are standing their ground. >> we are not asking for anything more than what we've earned over60 years of collective bargaining. i -- i believe the experience and value i bring as a nurse with 31 years, is worth that. >> we are asking for real changes in their contract in terms of benefit questions, no question about that. that is being done truth the country, firefighters, policemen, nurses aren't immune to that. >> reporter: one concern is what does this mean for the patients? last september a woman died at the alta base hospital during a strike when a replacement nurse gave her the wrong medication. hospital officials say the one

bit of good news is the replacement nurses who are here today are no longer strangers to this area. >> over 80% of the nurses who are here have been here before so they are familiar with our hospital and our systems and patients. >> we have nurses who have volunteered to be on the patient protection task force in the event there's an emergency we will go in if we are needed. >> reporter: the two sides can't agree on a contract. yet, both sides say, they are sick of this dispute. >> we are frustrated with the union. we want to negotiate. we want to resolve this. >> i hope this is the last time you have to interview me. >> reporter: as one nurse told us it would take 5 to 10 minutes to go over the finer points of this dispute. sick pay and employee benefits are a key part of the argument. both sides due back at the table june 28th. for a complete list of the

hospitals impacted go to abc7news.com. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. the parents of missing morgan hill teenager sierra lamar increased the reward this morning for information in the case to $35,000. their 15-year-old daughter disappeared march 16th, on her way to school. antolin garcia-torres is charged can kidnapping and killing lamar. investors -- investors haven't found sierra. her father is convinced someone out there knows something. >> we went down to find it in their heart if it was their daughter or sister that was missing, you know, i would do that for them. so we want anyone that knows any information to come forward and help us. >> family is circulating a new

ç pictures of garcia-torres' car. the reward will be given to anyone that brings successful prosecution in the case. fire officials say a fire in redwood city could be arson. the fire broke out after midnight when several cars in the carport burst into flames. 30 people were displaced and two of the units were gutted. investigators found rings around the car that make the fire look like it was deliberately set. >> patterns are leading to extended investigation. >> all the cars are burning up. once i ran out to see the cars, three blew up at the same time and i yelled to everybody, get out. i told my mom to call the firefighters. >> most of the -- the red cross did respond and is helping with flood, clothing and temporary housing, nobody

was hurt. -- pg&e and the san francisco fire department investigating how a natural gasline ignited and started a fire in the portola district. sky 7 hd was over the scene yesterday afternoon. the flames spread quickly across two buildings on san bruno avenue after a construction worker tried to hook-up a gasline that worker is being treated for life-threatening injuries. it took pg&e more than two hours to shut off the gasline. they say they couldn't shut off the gas immediately because the fire was right on top of the maináqs gas cut off point. in hayward crews are working to replace aé(utility pole that a car crashed into and knocked down this morning. the pole shutdown the residential street. winton between santa clara and soto road will be open noon. police say a 58-year-old woman ended up with minor injuries. no word on why she crashed into the pole.

police don't suspect alcohol or drugs. in pennsylvania, more graphic testimony about child sexual abuse. the trial against jerry sandusky. diana perez has more. >> reporter: jerry sandusky arrived for what is expected to be another long day in court. building on testimony from the first two days of his child sexual abuse trial, prosecutors called another alleged victim. identified by abc as victim 10. he told the jury sandusky subjected him to oral sex and threatened him to keep quiet or he would never see his family again day within the jury heard from one witness who said sandusky molested him numerous times in the showers at penn state. yesterday a teenager recounted being 11 when the abuse started in sandusky's basement. his testimony so gut recent. ing some -- so gut-wrenching some jurors broke down.

>> you have jurors in tears over the testimony of an 18-year-old talking about what happened to name would seem to indicate they believe that testimony which is terrible news for sauz 's defense. >> reporter: another blow to the defendant was mike mcqueary's testimony yesterday. the former coach said in 2001 he walked in on what looked and sounded like sandusky assaulting a boy in the school showers. he said he slammed a locker door. "i made the loud noise to say someone else is here. break it up." >> repeatedly without flinching told the jury at least 20 times i saw it, i'm sure about it, and there's no mistake that this was extremely sexual in nature and it was something that was horrible. >> reporter: today mcqueary's father took the stand and corroborated his son's testimony. experts say things are not looking good for sandusky's defense team. they may opt to call him to the stand.

the company actually cut nearly 1900 workers last august instead of the 1100 it had said. solyndra went bankrupt after getting $535 million dollars in loan guarantees from the federal government. documents show solyndra increased production in 2011, even though it failed to sell all panels it made the previous year. the new report is likely to add more political debate around the company's failure. mitt romney made that surprise visit to solyndra last month to attack president obama over the government's stimulus spending. jpmorgan chase's ceo told senators that top executives will probably lose pay over the huge trading losses. jamie dimon was called to answer for recent trades that lead to a two billion dollar loss. diamond told senators stocks and bonus be recovered from

that is 18-year-old patrick receiving a huge standing ovation as he walked across the stage to get his diploma from high school. he had been paralyzed after being hit by a car when he was a toddler. it took six hours of therapy everyday for three years to make that big moment possible. now he's thinking ahead to college graduation. >> maybe do jumping jacks at
