sky 7 hd caught this flooding at the macarthur freeway in oakland where caltrans was hard at work unplugging drains. we are on storm watch this morning. hi, i'm kristen sze. and i'm cheryl jennings. i was caught in that with thousands when the golden gate bridge was shutdown. katie marzullo was also in that big mess. it was really bad northbound. >> reporter: it was. we were stuck in it as well. take a look now, northbound and southbound traffic on the golden gate bridge moving freely in both directions would have been a sight for sore eyes something commuters this morning probably never thought they would see again as they sat in bumper-to-bumper traffic. video from sky 7 hd if you can see through the thick fog and

rain this morning, two white cars in the far right lanes of northbound traffic at vista point, they hit, head-on. miraculously chp says own minor injuries they couldn't tell me how many were injured. they cannot confirm bad weather played a role. you can see how low visibility was and how slick the roads were. now look at the toll on the bridge this is the tallout. this accident happened after -- this is the fallout accident happened after 8:00 this morning traffic complete stop northbound for at least one hour two lanes of southbound traffic closed as well, a true traffic nightmare. >> i'd say about 45 minutes just sitting here, a lot of people turning around. all you can do is wait and see. the weather is bad gotta be safe. >> reporter: traffic only started moving an hour ago. chp usingraffic controls to let groups of cars get things

moving again. southbound some of the traffic moving from zero miles an hour to 35 miles an hour as things started to pick up. this isn't over, commuters can expect residual delays as the bridge was closed so lone the back-up in some places remains. katie marzullo, abc7 news. >> you are right that residual delay problem was horrible this is my drive today, southern marin we were sitting there mostly stop from southern marin to san francisco sometimes we sat there took me an hour and may have for a drive that is normally half an hour at the most. >> glad you made it. >> me too. >> that was the worst of many crashes this morning. >> mike has been tracking the rain with live doppler.

the worst of the storm has moved off, we still have residual showers going to be the case as we head into the afternoon hours. you can see sycamore valley road, blackhawk road, crow canyon, doherty, bollinger, san ramon where we have some of our best radar returns to castro valley right now san leandro and lake mendocino drive, starting to dry. same on the bridge towards san mateo, it looks like you are going to run into dry weather sprinkles towards hayward. the last three hours you can see yellows, oranges, light to moderate rain we yesterday is over. we still have a west that means scattered -- west flow that means scattered light showers. we'll tell you how long. commuters in downtown san francisco were ready for the rain this morning.

a lot of people left with rain gear. sea of umbrellas on market street during the morning rush. they will need them again on their way home. >> chp advising drivers to watch out for flooding on the roads in marin county it has been raining off and on since 6:00 last night this is highway 101 near sir francis drake boulevard in cortamadera where drivers hit big puddles during the morning commute. top priority is keeping storm drains clear. that is happening in oakland on hegenberger road and 880 where crews are building the new bart connector. water was already backing up, pumps have been set up to prevent flooding. a lot of trees drop pelled this morning. crews are trying to remove a big tree that crashed on to a home in san francisco, narrowly missing a couple. eric thomas engines us from

that scene. >> you can hear the chainsaws behind me from the arborists who have been here an hour cutting branches and clearing the tree from this lovely home atop russian hill. it is what you can't see from here that almost turned this into a deadly situation. scott got a visit from the building inspector today. big chunks of an 80 foot tall cyprus came crashing into his home within piece through his bedroom ceiling feet from where he and his wife slept. >> we were sleep, woke up, thank the lord we are here to talk you to it was a big tree fell over my head. luckily, one of the branches the main chunk of the tree fell into our yard and then one branch into our house. >> reporter: no one in the home was hurt. other parts of the tree came to rest on the roof and second floor balcony. scott blames sat rated ground. >> i have -- i have three kids
