>> live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> a health warning in sonoma county city. >> petaluma high school is warning the student body after a student got sick from a highly contagious bacteria that can cause meningitis. ay, you talked with the family and someone who came in with direct contact. >> another whose son is friends with the boy was with him before he was diagnosed with meningitis and says this has her concerned, and has her asking questions and the school nurse is experiencing that with more and more students coming in at any sign of any type of symptom. >> this is a time to be honest. did you do anything? >> parents have had honest

crews in san francisco are working to repair an old 12 itch -- 12" water main that broke 12 hours ago. it has new yorked out service to many in the neighborhood. core them? >> repairs on the cast iron pipe are progressing but as you can see the fix will not be easy. you can see a lot of the water coming down the street. it is pumped out of the pipe so crews can get a look at it. water officials say cold weather and old age likely led to the rupture. accuse moving fast to fix a very large broken water pipe. parts of the street were a rushing river overnight as water poured out of a broken 12" transmission line. some of the run off poured into a laundromat causing a big mess. >> a lost sand. a lost dirt. >> anthony and other residents have their water back after a

brief interruption 689 the utility commission says the 85-year-old cast iron pipe likely ruptured because of old age and cold weather. >> we do have some type of a break and that is due to the cold factor, no other breaks are occurring to my knowledge. >> the cable car line is not running until the tracks can be inspected for any debris from the broken water pipe. a bus has been running on the line all morning. i talked to the inspectors who have been looking at tracks for two hours and they say everything looks good on the mason street line. the cable cars should be up and running in the next hour. as for this water pipe, it will be at least four to five hours before it is fixed. there are 1,200 miles of water pipe in san francisco. about ten miles of them get replaced every year.

>> redwood city police are asking for the public's health in catching a home invasion suspect. the 21-year-old martinez helped problem a 79-year-old woman at gunpoint february 7th. investigators say two men and a teen girl entered her home on 10th avenue and ransacked the house, locked the woman in a bed real but she was able to call police and they caught a suspect as he tried to get away and they are still looking away for the teen and martinez. >> a convicted sex offender wanted in texas is under arrest in san francisco for assault on a woman on saturday. the 57-year-old was arrested on sunday on charges that include kidnapping, sexual assault and failing to register as a sex offender. police say he attack add woman in a stairway in cathedral hill neighborhood. evidence provided by the victim led to the arrest.

>> alameda police hope someone will recognize a man suspected of stealing packages from homes. police released this surveillance video showing a man walking away from the front doorstep of a home on rosewood way yesterday. a homeowner security camera recorded the alleged package thief in the act. police say they have not seen an increase in thefts but they are asking for the public's help. >> golden gate bridge officials are launching a new campaign to make sure commuters are aware that toll takers are eliminated next month. they are happening out pamphlets to drivers using cash. this alerts commuters of other ways to pay when the bridge district switches to all electronic toll taking. here are a few options, sign up for fast track account and get a dollar discount off each crossing or register your license plate with a credit card and pay-as-you-go and make a one time payment online. for more on ways to pay, go to abcnews.com and click on "see it on tv."

bryant has been cleared. the gas leak began at 10:30, still going on, and the energy company is arriving at the scene and we have work that the muni 48 bus line is being rerouted as a result the gas leak. we will update you on the breaking news story when we get more details. >> in the meantime, happening now, authorities are using cadaver dogs to search the rubble of a massive explosion and fire in kansas city. firefighters discovered the body of a person killed in the blast. it happened at a popular entertainment district during dinner time. the explosion flattened a crowded restaurant, 15 people were hurt, several critically. the explosion was believed caused by a contractor doing underground work near a natural gas line. >> in south africa, oscar pistorius has to wait until tomorrow to learn if he will be released on bail.

degrees. 52 along san jose and walnut creek at 57 and palo alto at 50 and napa at 48 degrees. the temperatures are running three to eight degrees warmer than this time yesterday and that is the key to the forecast, much warmer than yesterday because of the sunshine and the lack of rain. tonight, it will be mostly clear and almost as cold as this morning so if you have to protect the plants and the pets inland valleys from the frost you have to do it tonight and our afternoon starting today and tomorrow and friday, they will be warmer. our 24 hour temperature change shows significant warming eight degrees warmer in fremont and oakland and nine in san francisco and san jose, concord, and santa rosa, ten, 12, and 13 degrees warmer-than-average because while you were sleeping the low pulled away and look at the singing air, and the dry air behind it that brought us the window of sunshine and that is what is modifying the air mass. because of the dry air and it is cloud free tonight it will be

cold. now, talking temperatures, we will be in the upper 50's for the most part down in the south bay and we will be in the mid-to-upper 50's on the peninsula and possibly 60 in redwood city city and the coast, mid-50's for you and we will touch 60 in a few hours and 58 in sausalito and on the east bay shore everybody in the upper 50's headed toward richmond at 60 degrees today and we could get to 60 in concord and pittsburand pleasant ton and back to walnut creek and san ramon 58 and 56, and, tonight, look inland neighborhoods, 31 in santa rosa and 30 in napa. so in the subdivisions and the suburbs, you will hit the freezing mark. we will have upper 30's to low 40's an the bay shore and to the coast. now, what will happen for thursday and friday, notice our temperatures jump one to three degrees and we are back to

>> a gas like has caused the evacuation of an expire block in san francisco at 24th in the mission district. the deputy fire chef says it sounds like it is a high pressure line. the fire department and the energy company are at the scene with a one block area evacuated and bus lines are rerouted.
