preconclave mass considered the most influential people involved in the selection process. use news reporter marcy gonzalez is joining us from mitt romney with the latest -- from rome with the latest. >> good morning, the doors of the cistene chapel were locked an hour and a half ago. the cardinals are going the process of electing a new pope. >> a solemn procession after so much anticipation. the conclave is now officially underway. >> it is a tremendous moment for the cardinals because they have been talking for about ten days. all the talk,ow, and the chatter falls to the wayside. 115 cardinals picking their seats, praying and voting each carefully disgoesing his handwriting as he cast as ballot for the man he believes should be the next leader of the catholic church.

the cardinals starts the day in part by celebrating mass in st. peter's and now after a morning of bowed head, outside all years looking up. watching. waiting. waiting for the smoke to pour from the chapel. black smokes means inconclusive smoke and white smoke signals one man what two-thirds of the vote and is named the new pope. who it will be is anyone's guess. how soon? everyone agrees it will not be today. >> i would be astonished it it is this time around, the biggest surprise since pope benedict resignation. and cardinal dolan said i guess well have a new successor by thursday evening. >> now we are watching closely the first sign of smoke expected to be visible in the next hour.

are not rushing to get through the preliminary meetings and it is nice they were putting it in the lord's happened to make a decision. >> the archbishop says a new pope will no doubt face many problems from the sex abuse scandal to dwindling catholic congregations in the west and a surge of members in latin america. >> how to support the growth of the church in those areas where christianity is newer and seems to be more vibrant and growing while we try to reevangelize parts of the world are serious challenges. >> cardinals likely choose a pope that is a good communicator, administrator and can connect well with people in strong faith. >> any archbishop continues to say that the new pope in his words will also need "energy to tackle all the challenges, good and bad, that the catholic church faces during this historic time."

live in san francisco for abc7 news. >> stay with abc7 news for latest news from vatican city abc7 news breaking into programming when a new pope is elected. >> parents in a pre-school are outraged this morning after discovering a former teacher tied up a two-year-old for refusing to take a nap and took a picture of it. abc7 news reporter, amy hollyfield, is live at center point christian pre-school where the investigation took place with the reaction. >> officials told us today that this is their fifth violation with the state since october. two violations were because they stored bleach in reach of the children. to others had to do with supervision of the children. they say this is the worst infraction. >> i am really shocked, actually. >> parents dropping off their children at the pre-school say they are concerned and have questions about how and why a teacher could have taped a two-year old's wrist and ankles

together because she refused to nap. some parents have taken their kids out of the school this week and others say they are watching carefully. >> i am sure they will make the changes so we are already almost done with the school year so we are not going to pull our son out. i feel for the child and the parents. >> the police say at this point it appears to be an isolateed incident. they are trying to figure if they will charge the teacher with a crime. the teacher took a picture of the child and showed it to other teachers including the child's mother who contacted authorities . >> the child's mother has been a teacher here and last week felt because of this incident she could not continue. >> officials planned to hold a meeting tonight to discuss this with parents, some of whom say they will not abandon the school. >> the school is new and i want to support the school. >> we are devastated and shocked this is a horrible incident. we deplore it in the greatest

-year-old man tripped and fell in front of a slow-moving truck and the driver told investigators it was dark and he didn't realize his truck hit someone until it was too late. >> in novato, new information on a louse fire that ended with the discovery of large marijuana grow in the basement. the fire broke out at the abandoned two story home before midnight. investigators say it appears 9 electrical system was set up to bypass the meeter and that may have started the fire. >> happening now the family of a missing oakland woman is asking for the public's help in finding her. the 31-year-old was supposed to be on a flight to visit her brother in texas but never made it. she was seen on surveillance video on thursday morning walking past an oakland bakery. oakland police are investigating. >> the san jose city council

celebrity accounts. there are 17 celebrityies named on the web site stars like beyonce and britney spears. the first lady was just added overnight, joining attorney general holder and f.b.i. director mueller. the site lists his current address as being on sacramento street in san francisco. we checked and the property is not listed in his name. several celebrity phone numbers appear to be wrong part of the reason some experts say the so-called secret files are fake. >> i am very suspect of information that is releaseed online that goes against the very reason you steal them. it is to use them. so is this a rank? a hoax? to get attention? >> the site has hat 100,000 views since monday. investigators are working to shut it down but in the meantime it is supported by san francisco-based content delivery network and tech week europe reports they will only cut off customers if asked to do so by a

clara, the more sunshine, that is where morgan ill is at 77. up the peninsula you can see the clouds took longer to fade away, and millbrae in the mid-to-upper 60's and redwood city city south, throw mid-70's. at the coast, upper 50's to 60 and on the bay side you get more sunshine in south san francisco at 66 degrees and same for sausalito and san rafael at 69. low-to-mid 70's through the north bay valleys and through sonoma and napa but at the beep beeps, hanging around the upper 50's to near 60 degrees. on the east bay shore, clouds are lingering and hayward, to a lesser extent, and san leandro and union city, the closer to the higher elevations you are warmer. san ramon at 71 and every one else in the mid-to-upper 70's in the east bay. around the state, look at next upper 70's for low 80's through the central valley and state of the union he at 63 degrees
