san francisco police officers tasers. they could not be used on the elderly, the thin suspects, or suspects that were close to traffic, young people. there were many restrictions placed on them. the police chief suhr announced last night there were too many restrictions and three is worried that the police officers would pause and thing of the issue when they may not have time to think so he was withdrawing the proposal. the aclu applauds the decision and the group considers tasers dangerous. >> they are not an alternative to firearms and not nonlethal. they are less lethal and carry a risk of serious injury and death of the the idea is taze certificate a simple alternative to a firearm is false. >> that is what supporters of tasers like, the idea police having a nonlethal option. they prefer tasers to a gun. i asked the aclu what method would they prefer to a taser and

they think officers, dispatchers need to be trained in solutions such as deescalation techniques, not drawing any kind weapon at all. we reached out to the police department and police chief and the police unions for their thoughts and comments but we have not heard back from them. >> thank you, amy hollyfield. >> a federal judge is warning oakland officials to stop staying in the way of a man hired last month to clean up the police department. he has the power to demote and ask the police chief to be ousted as part of a reform effort after a police brutality scandal. the judge is accusing city hall of trying to on -- obstruct him. they are in a dispute over pay and benefits. >> in san francisco, there has been a shooting near city college this morning. police are looking for two or more people who shot a man

around 8:30 a.m. this morning. the victim is treated for a non-life threatening leg wound and is not cooperating with police. witnesses say at least two men drove away from the scene in a silver four-door sedan. this is not a random shooting. the victim was the intended target. >> san francisco police are searching for two carjacking suspects after a chase ended in a dramatic early morning crash near the marina district. the stolen car crashed into a fire hydrant at union street and van ness avenue leaving behind quite a gusher. the car also clipped a muni bus and hit the side of an apartment building before the suspects took off running. the two are wanted for a carjacking early this week. >> vallejo police are vetting a rolling gun battle that sent four people to the hospital and left this car riddled with bullets. investigators say at least 30 rounds were fired define two cars in north vallejo at 10:00

last night. the driver of one car was shot and crashed. the other car took off. >> happening now in antioch, dozens of high school students are tested for tuberculosis after a classmate was diagnosed. health officials say a student at deer valley high school was confirmed to have active tuberculosis but is no longer infected. 100 students who is come in contact with the student were tested for tuberculosis and officials the catch up to the rest the students for another round of testing at a later date, possibly in may. >> in san francisco right now dozens of union workers are protesting outside a hospital construction site. they are picketing outside the children's hospital site in mission bay. workers with local 38 say they are upset that the construction company in charge of the project has hired non-union refrigeration workers to dot job. that company tells abc7 news they are just following the lead of the company that hire them as

more. happening right now, san francisco's effort to bring a super bowl to the bay area is bringing major star power to the bid committee. steve young and head coach george seifert. cornell bernard joins us from san francisco city hall where the announcement was just made. cornell? >> made seconds ago were the push to bring the super bowl to the bay area just got a lot of major star power behind it. the mayor making it official a few seconds ago that former 49ers quaterback steve young and former coach george seifert are joining the bid committee to bring super bowl 50 or super bowl 51 to the new stadium. san francisco and santa clara hope to jointly host the super bowl in 2016 or 2017 the at new stadium that will open next year. the bay area facing some fierce competition with miami to host super bowl 50 and the mayor says having young and seifert on board could make for a winning

air poor weather morning until 10:00 for butchy flights in and out of the sfo with winds running 17 miles per hour, and these are sustained winds, not the gusts, but this is how it feels outside at ten miles per hour in concord and eight in san jose. they are out there and faster in some areas and slower in others. here are the clouds they have banged up against the coastline look, from ocean beach from mount tamalpais this morning. it will be cloudy and cooler today. mild to warm on friday and saturday and another dry cold front comes in on sunday bringing us windy weather and cooler conditions for sunday and monday. downtown frank from sutro towers, 60's in san francisco and san jose and oakland at 63 and palo alto at 64 and still warm in walnut creek and mill valley and 70 degrees for you guys. not sure what that is, but we have temperatures running in the mid-60's to about 70 degrees. here is a look at what is going on as far as the cold front, it is push on down and with the

clock-wise flow you can see it is pulling the cooler air from the north and the air over the ocean is cooler than what we had yesterday. for the rest of the afternoon upper 60's to low 70's, and 73 in morgan hill and los gatos. as we look on the peninsula it will be breezy from time to time, mid-to-upper 60's, and los gatos at 70 and brisk along the coast and partly sunny sky with the most cloud cover and mid-to-upper 50's, and well have mid-60's and downtown and south san francisco and sausalito and low-to-mid 70's through the north bay valleys and the mid-to-upper 50's at your beaches, just like on the peninsula. 66 in hayward and up to accident in hercules with a breeze up the canyon and san ramon is 69 and low-to-mid 70's for everyone else. traveling around the state, temperatures are in the upper 70's and near 80. clouds in tahoe and 57 after snow showers, and 73 in los angeles but near 90 with mostly
