>> abc7 news starts right now with breaking news. >> the breaking news is fm boston. an arrest has been made in the box marathon bombings tha killed three people and injured more than 170. >> the arrest was announced moments ago. the f.b.i. is planning a news conference at 2:00 our time this afternoon. investigators found the lid of a pressure cooker, a possible critical part of evidence in the boston marathon attack. law enforcement officials released these pictures, the new pictures of potential bomb parts

including wiring and a circuit board. they believe the lid of the pressure cooker was flying to a nearby building. our reporter is live in boston with the latest. >> hello from boston. a massachusetts official tells abc7 news that authorities believe they have identified a suspect in the bombings. it is reported that is suspect has been arrested but that is not confirmed by abc7 news. it is also reported that surveillance video helped lead authorities to the suspect. >> investigators believe these are the remains of the crude explosive device used in the bombing, a pressure cooker packed with nails and ball bearings. >> this is a similar device to the i.e.d.'s we found throughout afghanistan used to kill our

soldiers. >> it was made by a company called fager for maximal damage. many have had to have ambassador fatals. >> it is difficult for the patients and their family. >> the f.b.i. believe they were hidden in black backpacks and the remains of one could be seen in this photo. >> they will try to take pictures back and see when the bag was this and when it wasn't there so they can get the exact time of placement. >> boston t station whdh has these pictures near the finish line with a large sack next to a mailbox. then, in this shot, taken after the explosion, the large bag is disappeared and investigators are asking the public for help. >> someone knows who did this. cooperation from the community will play a crucial role in the investigation. >> we are lending more of the

three victims who died last night. a vigil for 8 martin richard. krystle campbell the 29-year-old restaurant manager is being remembered. as well as a chinese graduate student from boston university who was watching the race with friends. >> a massachusetts official tells use that authorities believe they have identified a suspect and an abc station in boston is reporting a suspect has been arrested but that is not confirmed by abc7 news. the grieving continues in boston with president obama and the first lady heading here tomorrow for a memorial in on of victims. >> thank you. the bay area boy injured in the boston bombing is involving from a new round of surgery today. the 11-year-old aaron hern was there to cheer on his mother running in the marathon. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard is in martin news. >> the community is rallying

behind his family. >> it is amazing the love and support that martinez is showing for the 11-year-old aaron hern who is recovering at this hour in boston. this restaurant, one of three restaurants holding fundraisers for his family, i spoke with a family friend in boston who use aaron hern is making a strong recovery. >> aaron hern is making a good recovery after a traumatic 24 hours. family friend spoke to us by phone from boston. >> when he wakes up, he wants to know how the family s. >> the doctors at boston children's hospital will remove a breathing tube that prevented him from speaking. he is using an eye pad to communicate. >> he is a healthy strong boy. he is a swimmer, he is in great condition, a baseball player. so all of that is going

mail screening facility for mail sent to the white house. the f.b.i. says the letter mailed to the pesident was preliminarily tested positive for ricin a potentially lethal poison but it has to undergo further laboratory testing a day after another letter potentially laced with the chemical was sent to the office of a mississippi senator. that letter and both are dated april 8 and postmarked from memphis with similar wording. >> i remind you these investigations both of the bombings in boston and the letters in question here are just underway. i would point to the statement by the f.b.i. that they have made, they have no indication of a indication between the two.

the suspect through surveillance video that was on top of a lord and taylor store a couple blocks do my left. there has been a lot of activity going on today. we did see a fire ladder coming and aiding the f.b.i. they were all in their white suits and they went on top of a roof which was across the street from the lord&tlor with evidence backs and metal containers and they came back down so obviously we don't know exactly what was doing on but obviously they were gathering some evidence. again, our afill immediate in boston is reporting that any were able to identify a suspect through surveillance video on top the lord&taylor and a suspect has been arrested. >> thank you. troubling new detail on the span of the bay bridge and why safety tests ordered years ago that could have detected bad bolts were never performed. >> it is opening day for the

francisco's new exploritorium opened at 10:00 this morning, the hope is that minds opened up, too, to the wonderful world of science. >> that is why the mother of three boys brought temperature to the grand opening. >> the kids are curious and this is a perfect place to do what they want to do, use their creativity, explore, and you can touch everything. >> it has been 15 years in the making and the new location at pier 15 is three times the size of the old location. city leaders gathered to celebrate the opening and dan ashley proudly served as emcee to bring in this new time of discovery. >> this is remarkable and sat filing and a new crown jewel for the city of san francisco. >> before the doors opened we got a tour of the place and quickly discovered at an exhibit about lights how adults can act like children. >> we would like adults as well as children to come and play and

interact and find that inner child to explore the natural phenomena. >> they haveigured out how to play a video and turn it into science. you play this with a partner the. >> it is about human interaction. and human social behavior. >> there are 600 gibbs -- exhibits here including a bridge surrounded by fog. it could take more than one visit because there is so much to see. >> this place is so much bigger and we just got here. we will all here all day. >> stuff to see inside, look at this live picture, outside, too, and outside exhibit a lot them are free so even if you want to come down here and enjoy to weather and don't want to pay to get in there is stuff to do outside. it costs $25 for adults and $19 for kids over five and is open until 10:00 tonight.

show caltran ordered tests 4 1/2 years ago that could have revealed problems with faulty bolts in the bay bridge. the tests were never performed. 32 anchor bolts on the new span snapped off. in 2007 they ordered tests that would dedetect them but the contractor, american bridge and joint venture, never did this. officials are uncertain if the new eastern span will open by labor day as originally scheduled. >> we have changing weather. it was cold. it is warming up. >> we have a warming trend. >> absolutely. warming trend takes temperatures well above average but if you don't like the warm weather we have the coolest at the coast. we will start with what is going on right now. can you see how dry it is on live doppler 7 hd. we will talk about the breezes still gusting. notice it is away from the coast where we seeing faster wind up

to 25 mile east bay valley, along the east bay shore and the south bay and 38 in fairfield and breezy along the coast and san francisco is at 15 and novato is at 18 and only 7 in santa rosa. you can see the warmest weather right now, most of us in the 60's but for the san carlos and half moon bay with temperature in the upper 50's. still breezes across emeryville and the golden gate bridge and as far as what is going do happen with the exploritorium it will be breezy by 1:00 o'clock and 63 degrees and 3:00 it will be sunny and 55 and cool in the evening so have a jacket to watch the lights. from the east bay hills, high definition picture to the west showing the sunshine, more remain whatth today and we will have all seven days free of rain and our warmest day will be sunday, monday, and tuesday. here, again, our temperatures compared to yesterday, most of us in the low-to-mid 70's but

san francisco is at 67 and you are still seven degrees warmer than yesterday and everyone else is four to six degrees warmer. leader is why we are still breezy on the front side of the ridge or the back side, you have areas of low pressure roll down and develop in the bottom of the trough and not unusual but when one spins up, the wind continues to spin up. this is the last one. high pressure will start moving this trough inland and that means high pressure will take over, the sinking air brings us sunshine and warmer days even at the cost you get warm but you will not get exceptionally warm. in the santa clara valley we have temperatures in the low-to-mid 70's and up the peninsula we have upper 60's to low 70's and a breeze on the coast and members in the upper 50's to low we 60's but not a breeze. mid-to-upper 50's in downtown and south san francisco and in sausalito low-to-mid 70's through the north bay valleys and upper 60's near your beaches

and low 70's for everyone else on the east bay shore. low-to-mid 70's inland valleys. about an hour and 15 or 20 minutes from now we have a game that wil be gorgeous. check out the temperatures in the sunshine: 4 degrees at at 1:5 and 70 when the game is over. it will, mid-40's to low 50's. here is the seven-day outlook, starting tomorrow, we will start a run, if you will, of 80 degree democrats inland and 90 by monday and in the 80's on monday around the bay but at that time we wilbe in the mid-60's at the coast where you can fine the cooler weather with the free air conditioning. we have another great resource for you following live doppler 7 hd on twitter for the latest bay area weather conditions, rain or shine and get video forecast which will hopefully be weather forecast and "spare the air" alert and power outage information and weather tweets.
