>> that breaking news involves the state's minimum wake. tonight, california lawmakers and labor leaders reached an agreement to raise the state's minimum wage to $15 an hour up from $10 an hour. that would make california the highest statewide minimum wage in the nation. this is a tentative agreement and has not been finalized. we'll have much more coming up later tonight on "abc7 news" over on channel 7. good evening. i'm eric thomas. rough ocean waves cause a training boat to overturn in san francisco this morning. sky 7 hd showing us the large field of debris left behind

after a scary ocean rescue. it started as a routine training mission for seven san francisco firefighters. four of them went to the hospital. one will remain overnight to get treatment for hypothermia. cornell bernard has our story. >> reporter: a routine training exercise for firefighters quickly became a rescue mission on the water. this firefighter still wet, standing in his bare feet, one was of six firefighters thrown into the pacific. it happened during that training exercise near the cliff house. seven firefighters aboard a 30-foot rescue fireboat. when they got into trouble. >> conditions were pretty calm, as i understand it. i do understand there was a big wave that came up, what some might call a rogue wave, and flipped the boat. >> reporter: first responders on jet skis were nearby, but rescuing everybody wasn't easy. >> when the jet ski came to get one person in the water, the person grabbed on and a set came and the waves were breaking out

and they bounced off a couple waves. >> reporter: were you worried? >> we were. we thought maybe somebody was trapped on the rocks and we couldn't see them on the backside or maybe they had gone under. >> reporter: sky 7 hd was over lands end where the boat drifted with the equipment left on board. >> we had some of our most experienced firefighters on that boat. >> the most important thing right now is they're all okay. >> reporter: after a very scary day on the water. cornell bernard, "abc7 news." police in concord with searching tonight for a man who shot and wounded an 8-year-old boy. he's identified as james gerard, armed and dangerous. the child was not the intended victim. the family of the boy says he's still in oakland children's hospital and doctors have not been able to remove the bullet in his neck. the child was playing with other

children in his front yard. witnesses say the shooter's own brother, who was also in that yard, was the intended victim, and that a family dispute led to the shooting. b.a.r.t. shut down service between the san leandro and bay fare stations for repairs. b.a.r.t. will shut down service on select weekends between now and june for crews to replace 2,000 feet of worn out rail, more than 900 railroad ties, and a thousand plate switches. the work is part of the building of better b.a.r.t. prarm. there's one more big closure happening tonight on highway 101 on the peninsula, all south bound lane also be closed overnight from midnight to 7:00 in the morning. caltrans will finish work from last weekend, switching all cars from an old bridge onto a new overpass. the work has been ongoing for ten months now. traffic will be detoured through the overnight hours, so expect

delays. sky 7 hd was above san francisco while crews worked to upgrade the tunnel, so muni is using shuttle buses. crews began replacing tracks and other vital systems yesterday. light rail vehicles will run against along the full length on monday morning. now to the latest on the brussels terror attack. belgian police arrested three more people today believed to be planning new attacks. a young couple is now confirmed among the 31 dead. abc talked to another american couple that survived and are counting their blessings. >> reporter: a north carolina family back home now, with these nightmare images to remember their trip to belgium. >> took our baby that was in a carriage, brought him down, used his shell as cover.

>> reporter: bob and martin georges were in the airport with their 9-month-old when the bombs exploded. this video shoes them hunched of shielding their infant. >> we get up, grab the baby and run forwards the back counters. >> reporter: they know how lucky they are. >> our hearts go out to the people that were victims. >> reporter: those like justin shults and his wife, missing since the attacks. it's been confirmed they were killed together. authorities releasing this photo of a man said to be syrian, believed to be complicit in the brussels attacks. the question now, are these the suspects who managed to slip away following tuesday's deadly attacks, like the man in the hat seen here at the airport with the suicide bombers? authorities also holding this man they shot and wounded friday on a railway platform. even so, there's widespread fear in belgium. their ordeal by terror is far from ending.

brussels this easter weekend is a city on high alert. a march against fear scheduled for easter sunday was canceled when authorities said they could not guaranty security. richard cantu, abc news, new york. now to the latest on the race for the white house. democrats in three states are voting today. bernie sanders won in washington and alaska. take a look at the scene in seattle where there was heavy turnout. hawaii's results are still not in. no contests today for the republican candidates until the wisconsin primary on april 5. ted cruz visited green bay yesterday. ohio governor john kasich will take part in a town hall monday in wisconsin. while donald trump's first rally there is scheduled for tuesday. the commercial crab season started today. sky 7 hd over the san francisco bay as commercial fishermen were out on the water hoping to bring back some big catches. the season had been postponed

a man now faces a life sentence without parole after being found guilty of killing three people during a marijuana deal gone bad in sonoma county. a jury convicted 49-year-old mark capello. another one of his fellow drug dealers delivered key testimony against him in ex-change for a lighter sentence. several people planned to ship 100 pounds of pot to other states and sell it. a group of homeless people has been camped out on the lawn for the past four months at the state capital in sacramento. donald turner is collecting signatures in support of a senate bill that would stop law enforcement from citing or arresting the homeless for eating, resting, and practicing religion in public places. >> we wanted to make sure that

the people that are sleeping here are safe and protected, and basically that's what we're here to do. >> homeless activists have collected close to 600 signatures. their goal is to reach a thousand by next tuesday when the bill will be heard. people living near a capped methane gas leak in southern california are still reporting health problems one month after the leak was stopped. the fumes are gone from the porter ranch area of los angeles, but people who live there say they found residue in their homes and on play grounds. county health inspectors have been testing the interiors of about 100 homes looking for chemicals. they expect to have the test results back by late april or may. up next on "abc7 news" at 9:00, avoid a weekend traffic mess. what you need to know if you're going the golden gate bridge tomorrow. and for a dry and warm day, what is your easter looking right? drew tuma is up next with the forecast. >> coming up in sports, two

that cooling also continues into monday. right now 63 currently in concord. 60 in oakland, along the coast, a bit cooler, an on shore breeze. 56 in san francisco. san jose, checking in with a temperature of 59 degrees. pretty much around the bay, we're doing okay visibility wise. half moon bay, down to a mile and a quarter visibility. we have dense pockets of fog developing along the coast. a breeze right now along the coast, 25 miles per hour at half moon bay, 30 miles per hour at sfo, pushing the cloud cover inland and bring fog to many spots tomorrow morning around the bay area. also tracking cooler temperatures. the reason why, live doppler 7 hd, you see this swirl right around anchorage. that's an area of low pressure that will dive to the south over the next 24 to 48 hours, dragging with it some cooler canadian air. you'll feel that tomorrow afternoon. monday, the cooler breeze kicks in and temperatures drop below average for this time of the

year. so as we plan out your easter sunday tomorrow, hour by hour, for sun rise services first thing in the morning, dense fog, low clouds. by midday, that fog burns off, and by the evening a few more clouds. so partly cloudy out there to round out the easter sunday. overnight tonight, we have the fog right now along the coast. it will spread inland. that keeps temperatures on the mild side with most spots ending up in the lower 50s. highs for sunday, starting in the south bay. 68 in san jose. 67 for sunnyvale. 68 for santa clara. 64 redwood city. 58 in half moon bay. downtown san francisco, afternoon sunshine, 63. into the north bay, 69 santa rosa. into the east bay tomorrow, 66 in oakland. 66 behind hayward. 70 the high in san ramone.

good. they led at the half 61-12. breanna stewart scored 22 before taking a seat. samuelsson had 21. 98-38 was the final, the largest margin of victory in sweet 16 history. needing one more win, the sharks were hoping the third time would be the charm today. san jose was facing a former goalie who i now with dallas. patrick sharp with the one timer makes it 3-0. the sharks got it going as joel ward takes advantage of a dallas mistake. then two minutes later, the backhand won't go, but the rebound does in. the lead was down to one, but the stars hang on. the empty netter makes the final 4-2 dallas. the sharks lose their third straight. new giants pitcher jeff

samardzija has struggled this spring, but today against the cubs he turned in a decent outing. this is a solo blast by matt duffy. he was 3 for 4 with a pair of runs driven in. samardzija went six innings and struck out four, allowing two runs on six hits. the giants beat chicago 5-2. the a's' chris bassett had a shaky start against k.c. the first two runs came off bases loaded walks. but carson blair strikes out to end the contest. the a's lose 5-2. and jordan spieth lost his match and with it the world's number one ranking. in the afternoon, cabrera got by ryan moore. cabrera's approach here on 15 nearly goes in.
