now from abc 7, live breaking news. >> terrifying video shows the moment a tourist chopper crashed into the east river in new york. at least two people are dead. but that number could rise. good evening. thanks for joining us. eric has the night off. right now three people are critically injured at the hospital. the pilot the only survivor. erica turski is in new york with the latest. >> this dramatic video showing the moment a helicopter crashed into the east river in new york. >> we heard something. >> a really big crash. >> yeah. >> we looked back at the water

and there was something floating on the water. >> rescue divers in the water. >> we were all calling 911. then we didn't see or hear anything. then we saw the yellow raft and someone on top of it. >> there were six people on board the eurocopter as-350. only the pilot was able to escape. >> the pilot freed himself. the other five did not. so police and fire divers entered the water and removed the other five. >> the skies over new york city constantly buzz with helicopters carrying tourists and businesspeople and others. crashes are not uncommon. in 2005, there were two incidents the same week. a salvage crew is being called in to retrieve the debris from the dark murky water. at this point it appears to be an accident. the pilot has been able to talk to investigators. >> in developing news, for the second time in less than a week, another fertility clinic

reporting a potentially devastating malfunction. this one in san francisco. the pacific fertility center alerted hundreds of patients their frozen eggs and embryos may have been compromised. the exact same thing happened at another clinic in ohio on the same day. >> reporter: tonight patients at a second fertility clinic devastated after learning a malfunction may have compromised their chance at having children. >> because there's an unknown, it's extremely stressful and it's very emotional. >> reporter: san francisco pacific fertility center president dr. carl herbert speaking to abc news about the issue at his facility. >> we're not saying this tissue is lost. yes, it may be affected and we have to acknowledge that, but our hopes are that it will be minimal impact. >> reporter: the clinic says more than 400 patients may have been affected when nitrogen levels dropped in one tank that houses some eggs and embryos. an investigation now under way in san francisco on the heels of

another malfunction in cleveland. patients at the university hospital's fertility clinic now planning to take legal action after 2,000 eggs and embryos may have been damaged when their liquid nitrogen containers failed. >> i think i'm going to be feeling this every day. because to me it's my child's potential sibling. >> reporter: the cleveland hospital bringing in independent experts to determine what went wrong. >> at this point, we do not know the viability of all of the stored eggs and embryos, although we do know some have been impacted. >> reporter: the clinic in san francisco tells us their physicians are reaching out to all the patients that may have been affected. in addition to existing safeguards, they plan to add a third alarm system to each tank to make sure this never happens again. reporting for abc news, new york. >> hope you enjoyed the dry

conditions. today we saw a lot of fog. you can see that going from larkspur to the ferry this morning. it even had to slow down because of the low visibility delaying its arrival. right now it is clear from our roof cam there, all the glittering lights below. spencer christian in for drew tonight with when the rain will arrive. >> this maybe the last completely dry day we'll see. a few clouds gathering near the coastline, a few clouds above. here is a look at the approaching storm coming in tomorrow continuing into tuesday ranks one on the impact scale, scattered showers tomorrow. windy by evening. gusts to 45 miles per hour. steadier rain will arrive overnight tomorrow night. the morning commute will be mainly dry. but we'll see scattered showers pushing on shore. we'll see showers becoming more widespread and areas of wet pavement for evening commuters, then late tomorrow night, another wave of steady downpours

will push in. that will be our storm for tuesday. i'll give you a look further into the forecast. >> people in napa valley are coming to terms with a tragedy which claimed the lives of three mental health workers at the veterans home of california. ear's abc 7 news reporter cornell barnard. >> reporter: they were back at the campus where friday's horrific shooting took place. a memorial of flowers and cards continues to grow here. veterans who live on campus are being offered counseling. >> people do need it. >> reporter: police say three mental health professionals working at pathway home, a treatment center for vets with ptsd were killed by army veteran albert wong who stormed the building and took hostages. officials say wong had been removed from the residential program two weeks ago. christine loeber, jennifer

gonzales who was pregnant and therapist jennifer golick lost her lives. >> it's very, very tragic. her family, her young daughter, very sad. she had just gotten her doctora doctorate. >> we're devastated. >> reporter: he was friends with christine loeber who was raised in new england. she was dedicated to healing vets. >> the awful thing about this tragedy and that a vet jueran w involved is it puts a point on how much this help and counselling is needed. >> john dunbar won't comment about why wong was kicked out of the treatment program. he's now concerned about finding a new space for the vets it serves. >> we're looking for a short, medium term housing to support our guys since we've been displaced from our building. >> reporter: a memorial to honor the three victims now being planned for march 19th at the

lincoln theater on the veterans home campus. in yountville, cornell barnard, abc 7 news. police are on the lookout for a robber who pulled a gun on a man in palo alto. it happened last night. police say the robber pointed the gun, demanded the victim's belongings. he handed over his wallet and cell phone. before taking off, the robber pushed him to the ground. a large crowd took the streets of oakland for international working womens day. ♪ abc 7 news was at the fruitvale village in march. they hold signs stating the cause they were supporting. organizers say today's event was not just about women given the current political climate. >> we're out here because we are resisting i.c.e. deportations of our communities. we're protesting violation of our bodies and chanting for

quite an honor for a world war ii veteran in sacramento in a suburb of elk grove. he turned 101 this past thursday. and today he received a surprise gift as a birthday present, the key to the city. his granddaughter felt he

fairfield, concord 59, 56 at livermore and the exploratorium camera looking back at a portion of the skyline. we'll see light rain tomorrow with gusty wind developing by evening. it will be colder with stronger storms coming in by midweek and this wet unsettled pattern right on into the weekend. overnight look for a few high clouds. a few patches of fog near the coastline. they'll spread locally out over the bay in the wee hours of the morning. low temperatures will range from upper 40s to low 50s. then tomorrow as we get a few areas of scattered showers moving in, little flashes of sunshine here and there, it will still be mild tomorrow with highs ranging from low 60s at the coast to mid and upper 60s in the bay and upper 60s to near 70 inland. the approaching storm continues into tuesday. a storm of light intensity. produce scattered showers tomorrow. more widespread showers by evening. also we'll have gustier wind by evening and a studier rainfall

will develop overnight tomorrow. we'll have a dry morning commute, but a wet afternoon and evening commute as we see pockets of showers and light rain moving through the area. late tomorrow night, a strong wave of rain with heavy downpours start to sweep into the north bay. making for a very wet and potentially slow morning commute on tuesday. start to wind down late in the day. and then we get some stronger, colder storms coming in midweek with strong, gusty winds. so we'll start now on wednesday morning at 5:00. it will be a wet commute. and rain throughout most of the day with snow in the higher elevations certainly over in the sierra. but also up in mendocino county. that rain will continue into thursday with occasionally heavy downpours and start to wind down a little bit on friday breaking up into scattered showers. so a look ahead to our seven-day forecast. light rain, gusty wind, late tomorrow. a storm ranking one on the impact scale for tomorrow and

tuesday. wednesday and thrsday storms with strong wind and heavier rain will rank two on the storm impact scale giving way to just another rainy da with showers. and maybe some lingering showers into saturday. the entire week looks pretty wet. given the warriors injury woes are starting to look like the ws will start to settle for the two seed in the west. try to avoid back-to-back losses for just the second time this year. but this was almost a scheduled loss. down by ten after one. klay thompson with a bruised thumb and all. he had 21. draymond green, 7 assists. zsa z zaza pachulia. kevin durant is going to have to carry the offense with steph and others out. look out draymond, sneaking in behind. the t'wolves would take control.

this was selection sunday in the ncaa. st. mary's did not make the field. the gaels, the strength of schedule hurt them. the pac-12 got three teams in, arizona, asu and ucla. usc got snubbed. tiger woods has not won a tournament in a long time. we're talking about 2013. he had a chance to end that today at the valspar championship in florida. paul casey is another guy who cme out of nowhere and hasn't won in a long time. was in the clubhouse tied for the lead. as for tiger, two back on 17. this is a long birdie putt from about 50 feet away. look at the roll. got it. 9 under, one shot back. patrick reed, the co-leader needed a two-putt to force a playoff. oh, no, coming back down to him.

"black panther" continues to dominate this weekend making box office history. but "a wrinkle in time" also made its mark. the movie's director ava duvernay became the first black director to debut in the top two. black panther took in $41 million. it's now earned $562 million in america.
