haze. it's a gloomy evening to be sure. thank you for joining us i'm dan ashley. ama is off tp. we'll begin with the rn expected to pick up overnight and cause flooding. our meteorologist sandhya patel has live doppler 7. >> the atmosphere river delivered a healthiy does of rain almost half a foot in some of the wettest locations ppt i want to show you the live doppr 7 right now and what's going on. the rain has been coming down hard at times. it's easing up except there are spots around crock et, ben eash aifr vallejo. 80 and 780 moderate. delta, brentwood, and yolk you notice around byrne getting good rainfall amounts. the rate about .65 of an inch per hour. you know this pineapple express is soaking parts of the bay area. santa rosa, south santa rosa petaluma hill road steady rain. it hasn't eased up. the mission district, daly city,

it's light right now. and stretching from half moon bay all the way to redwood city and san mateo street level radar showing light rain to mountain view, sunnyvale, santa clara. the santa cruz mountains the rain is light. but the problems aren't lit. in the north bay flood advisory as for are for central sonoma county until 10:00. that will likely get extended look at the moisture source towards hawaii known as a pineapple express. as dan mentioned. this is a strong level 3 storm through tomorrow morning. expect downpours flooding, wind gusts, 25 to 40-mile-per-hour and there is a chance of thunder we have seen gusts over 40. a flood watch kofrpg the north bay absanta cruz mountains. heavy rain could lead to mudslide and rock slides on road ways. you see the heavier rain passing through the region, twourt in the morning. hopefully it won't wake you up. this trend carries over. the flood advisory for this

in the bay area, santa clara county health officials confirmed five cases over the past month. another case was reported in alameda county. officials are advising everyone to make sure that they've had the meesles vaccine. they have not released any information about the patients who were affected but say the threat to the public is very low. still, pays to be cautious. nonetheless the officials are contacting places where the patients visited to let others know they may have been exposed. again always good to be cautious. it is as you can tell a busy friday night process. come up the abc news exclusive. inside the home of the youtube shooter. and hear more emotional reaction from her family about what happened. also the big project to develop candle stick point, why developers have been put on hold. and meteorologist sandhya patel will be back with more on this level 3 storm that is hitting the bay area. a lot more to bring

now to an abc news exclusive. inside the home of the woman police say opened fire at the youtube headquarters in san bruno, shooting three people before turning the gun on herself. the family of nasim adhdam says she became something of a youtube sensation in the iranian community for videos of

exercising promoting vegennism or dancing. the family says youtube began to ilt filter her last year. >> would you say she was obsessed with youtube. >> that's all she was doing, making videos. >> she never had -- how she shoot the people. >> adhdam's parents say they had no idea the daughter was capable of this week's shooting about which scherr shocked and saddened. three people were hurt. one remains hospitalized in fair conditions. school employees and administrators across the bay area got intense training today, training they hope they never have to use. abc 7 news reporter coronell bernard explains. >> my daughter just texted me from school, she is at stillman douglas. she says there is active shooter. >> chilling 911 calls from a florida high school an active shooter killing 17 people. this week in san bruno ray intrurder at youtube with guyana wounds three employees before taking her life.

it's one reason this active shooter safety training class was full at the marin county sheriffs department. the four-hour seminar was for bay area school administers hoping to arm themselves with information. >> knowledge is power. >> and the assistant principle at healdsburg learned a disturbing fact. >> there is no trend except that the trend is upticking. this is the reality and we have to be prepared for it. >> a lot of interest in this. i think our educators are looking for additional information. they're very concerned about protecting our children. >> the warning signs may vary. >> the class taught by the public safety training institute uses in video produced by the houston police department, a dramatic simulation of an active shooter situation. the message here, run, hide or fight. fight being a last resort. >> we talk about, you know, being aggressive, being loud, you know, never giving up, having the will to survive.

>> greg is assistant principle at novato high-where safety measures are always tested. >> we did a lockdown drill yesterday and most staff and students were right on par with expectations. we had a couple much students out then theb ran to the bathrooms and locked the door. >> the new normal for a sometimes dangerous world. at marin county. abc 7 news. san francisco police are still on the hunt for some burglary suspects. officers saw the group running from a home after police responded to break in call. suspects took off from the silver terrace neighborhood in a car which later crashed at the intersection of topeka and bridge view drive. one suspect was account caught and a undetermined number are on the run. oakland police are looking for up to eight people who say they saw robbed a majong parceler they rushed into the club on 11th street in chinatown, guns drawn, taking money and other

items from the victims. no one was hurt though. new developments in the plan to revitalize the old candle stick park. the san francisco business times reports the developer of a planned 635,000 square foot shopping mall has put the whole project on hold. 5-point holdings would not confirm that to abc 7 news. but the ceo says the company is discussing the retail configuration because of the current economic instability in retail. 5-point holding says it wants to make sure the project will work for the future. so they are evidently reassessing. all right. as you know it's a dark and stormy night and meteorologist sandhya patel is here with a look at the level 3 storm that hit us hard and not over. that's right, dan. the last time we had a strong level 3 storm in the bay area was january 8th. so that is why this may feel like it's a never-ending soaker. much needed here in the bay area as you all know. let me show you live doppler 7.

the rain has eased up a little bit. right now it's light and steady from oakland to park boulevard, piedmont, emeryville. heading inland around concord pleasant hill, bay point it's steady. and we are seeing light spotty showers from napa to sonoma as we show you street level radar. we're going to go into other parts like marin county where it's steady from sand rafael to mill valley. you will notice larkspur, still raining. california street, mission stret, we're seeing the wet roadways. you notice that around the peninsula from half moon bay all the way to palo alto we're still seeing the slippery roadways. spotty in nate around san jose, park more park avenue. let's look at the rainfall totals. many of you measures in inches but not all. mill valley more than 5.5 inches of rain. i just updated these. san francisco has gotten over 2 inches of rain. which is more than you see on average for the entire month of

april. oakland over two inches. you notice towards concord over an inch. ben loemen more than two inches in the santa cruz mountains. santa rosa about 12.5 inches. places like san jose, mountain view, redwood city generally under .5 inch of rain. we're not doneiest obly mild, 50s, 60s. here is a look at sto reports. this is the last 12 hours. we have seen numerous reports, the green there is flooding reports. we have seen most of those that are flooding, 29 reports. three reports of debris flow. and three reports of some real big downpours. it's been coming down in the form of rain in the sierra nevada which is of course causing concern as it melts the snow. flood watch until 11:00 a.m. sunday. several. of rain on top of the snow will lead to excessive flooding issues -- excessive rainfall will lead to flooding issues. discuss me. speaking of we've seen flooding in the bay area along the medium barked o from the kgo roof

camera. rainy and windy overnight. and it will be drying out sunday and monday. this storm is a strong level 3 storm with the pineapple connection, pineapple express through tomorrow morning. expect the downpours, floods will continue. win gusts 25 to 40 miles an hour. and there is a chance of thunder. 11:00 tonight as that cold front comes in, you will see soaking rain in the north bay. the yellows and oranges at midnight starting to slip southward and eastward. san francisco, the east bay, while you are sleeping the rain will be coming down pretty heavily. and you will notice around 4:00 a.m. the focuses is around the monther ayebae the south bay. 7:00 a.m. you wake up and say what storm? because the storm is starting to push out. and we'll just see isolated spotty light showers for the remainder of the morning in the north bay abthen in the around a little pop up shower here and there. not enough to where you need to cancel plans. the giants will play tomorrow afternoon after that rainout today. take a look at the rainfall totals. these are additional rainfall

potent atmospheric river bringing a lot of rain to the bay area. it's already being measured in inches in some areas. here is a live picture of a very wet golden gate bridge. but at least it's moving smoothly. more heavy rain overnight. we want to give you an update from sandhya patel and live doppler 7. definitely expect the downpours to continue through the night look at live doppler 7 right now. i want to show you where it's falling at this time. we are seeing light showers around the north bay in lucas valley, sand rafael, across 101. but i want to pull out, because as you look here there is a batch of moderate to heavy rain that is heading in this direction. and it will be in sand rafael at 10:53. do watch out. in the east bay we see spoy showers. arnold oeshlgd, steady into san leandro. inland east bay pleasanton. livermore you're getti rainfall there. also seeing some showers around san francisco as it easts up

right now it's getting ready toic up around the peninsula. east palo alto, redwood city heading into the santa cruz mountains and the south bay. do expect in rain and the stormy weather to continue into the weekend. but not a washout. i'll be back with details, dan. >> thanks a lot. new the threat of flooding forced the closure of the yosemite valley to visitors. while the rest of the park is still open, the most popular area has been shut down as a precaution. reporter jean haagenson from our sister station in fresno has more there. >> reporter: for many a spring break trip the yosemite was cut short. >> they call it evacuation. after 5:00 i think it's all coasted up. >> cars and rvs streamed out because the most popular area the valley is closed. >> the valley is closed because of some of the specific impacts that could happen. we might lose power. there could be impacts to the sewer system and wouldn't be able to have active rest rooms operational at that time.

border. the deployments deployment starts right away. texas and arizona officials plan to deploy about 400 troops. coming days after president trump's order for troops to help target illegal crossings and drug trafficking. texas which has the longest border with mexico sent the first group of national guard members tonight. arizona plans to send 150 troops by next woke. new mexico and california haven't announced plans so far. we'll see. the u.s. and china are slapping tariffs on one another catching farmers tech companies and manufacturers right in the middle. now president trump threatened 100 billion more in import taxes. all of this uncertainty and fear is taking a toll on the market. the dow lost 572 points today. dropping under 24,000. the nasdaq lost 161 ending under 71 willie thousand and the s&p dropped by 58. abc news reporter jonathon karl has more from the white house. >> reporter: a brutal day on wall street.

stocks tumbling after president trump escalated his threats towards china. today the president acknowledged his trade policy may cause pain. >> so i'm not saying there won't be a little pain. but the market hand gone up 40%, 42% we might lose a little bit of it. but we're going to have a much stronger country when we are finished >> global markets have been battered since the president first announced plans to hit china with $50 billion in tariffs. >> if they charge us we charge them the same thing. that's the way it's got to be. >> this week, china fired back. threatening $50 billion in tariffs on american products. everything from soybeans to cars, airplane to it could cost thousands of american jobs, american farmers could be hit especially hard. as markets tumbled, the president's new top economic adviser set out to calm nerves. >> we're not running a trade war. if you read this thing you'll
