apartments. >> abc 7 reporter leslie brinkly has more. >> reporter: dispatchers were inundated with calls at 1:00 a.m., one describing an explosion followed by a massive fire eruptingt a construct site near downtown concord. >> upon arrival they had reported a five city block five-story apartment complex under construction involved in fire. >> i looked out the window and all i could see was just a wall of flames and fire. unfortunately, i looked as long as i could for the cat. the dog was right next to be luckily and i grabbed her. >> reporter: three people were taken to hospitals for smoke inhalation but no other injuries reported. atf investigators are joining local fire officials to pinpoint the cause just as they it did in three other construction site fires over the last two years.

jail tonight after allegedly robbing his neighbor at gunpoint and engaging police in a three-hour standoff. swat officers smashing windows using tear gas and even drones to try to get the man to surrender. how police finally brought this situation to a peaceful end. >> reporter: video from sky 7 shows the suspect in handcuffs taken away from his home in coronado way in livermore. this follows an hour long standoff after police say that man robbed his neighbor in concord. they were concerned because the suspect was armed with a handgun. >> the s.w.a.t. team came up to my parent's house in a vehicle and escorted them in a s.w.a.t. team and took them off to a secluded location which i currently don't know right now, but i believe they're safe. there are residents nearby. >> reporter: police setup drones

been very open, and i think that very honorable from everything we're seeing. >> reporter: nice words aside the president declared he will insist on complete denuclearization. >> it means they get rid of their nukes. very simple. they get rid of their nukes. >> reporter: the visit with president macron capped off with a state dinner. just 13 candlelit tables of ten here at the white house. a third federal judge has ordered the trump administration to keep the daca program running. it's a major blow to the administration as it tries to wind down that program. the judge says the president's decision to end daca was virtually unexplained and ordered him to accept new applicants unless his administration comes up with a more solid reason within 90 days. daca gives protection to undocumented immigrants brough to the united states as children.

president trump rescinded daca in september giving congress six months to pass legislation in its place, which it did not do. the judge, by the way, was appointed by george w. bush. former president george h.w. bush appears to be making progress at a houston hospital. a spokesperson says he's awake, alert and talking and eager to return to his summer home in maine. bush remains in the intensive care unit two days after being admit f admitted for a blood infection. fresno's state president says professor rhonda jaro will not be fired. she came under fire when she called barbara bush a criminal. the university said today she didn't violate any california state university or fresno state policies, was acting in a private capacity and speaking about a public matter on her personal twitter account. more than 50,000 people have

for secretary of veterans affairs, ronnie jackson, the current white house doctor was set to be questioned tomorrow. now that's been put on hold amid some very serious allegations. >> here's abc reporter mary bruce. >> reporter: dogged by allegations of professional misconduct tonight the president's pick to lead the va is under intense scrutiny. admiral ronnie jackson's confirmation hearing now on hold as the senate reviews allegations he created a hostile work environment and as white house physician improperly dispensed medication, specifically the sleep aid amben. the top democrat on the committee says jackson is also accused of repeatedly being drunk while on duty while traveling with the president. jackson on capitol hill said he's eager to answer the questions. just moments later the president asked what he knows. >> i haven't heard of the particular allegations, but i will tell you he's one of the

executive. for now he's concentrating only on his children. an incredible effort to save a life overnight in detroit. a man tried to jump off an overpass and then 13 truckers stepped in. michigan police tweeted out this remarkable image. it started with one truck out of a bridge. authorities then waved a dozen others to park under the under pass. officers convinced the man not to do it. they shook each truckers' hand and thanked them for their assistance. tense moments after construction workers were left dangling in the air. both were secured by harness ropes and they were not injured. investigators are looking into what caused the scaffolding to collapse. the fda is cracking down on a tobacco product made by a san francisco company.

high schools use them to vape. the fda is asking for information how its products appeals to teens. this is considered the first step towards possible enforcement actions. the fda also says that plans to construct stings to see if retailers are illegally selling to minors. california officials say kids are particularly at risk. >> we've got concerns about the manufacturers who claim that the intent of these devices is to provide a safer alterative to cigarettes, but we know they're creating an environment that guarantees continued use addiction to nicotine. >> in a statement juul says we already have in place a way to identify in marketplaces and the company also says it monitors retailers to ensure they are following the law. researchers have developed an app that can help cannabis users determine if they are too high to perform dangerous or

where today's launch of the ford go bike bus. the pedal assist e-bikes are powered by a silicon valley company. the group behind the expansion motivate also roled out the go bike program last year and says people have taken a million rides on the system in less than a year. >> now we're bringing in electric. it'll make biking easier. it smooths out the hills. we think people are going to love it. >> motivate's ceo says the average trip on one go bike is one to two miles. he predicts electric trips with an average ride of 3 to 5 miles. the company believes bike share will become a fundamental part of how people get around. well, there's something rotten on the planet uranus.

car. i unlock it, open the trunk, and there's my package. the service launches today in 37 cities around the country and is currently compatible with any 2015 or newer connected chevrolet, buick, gmc, cadillac or volvo free to amazon's 100 million prime members. what amazon has done is that they have integrated themselves so much into that amazon customer's life that this is just one more step to make it easy to get their products. >> what if someone hacks into that cloud? >> you know, security is one of the things that has been most important to us as we build this service, and this has been run through a rigorous security review. >> reporter: customers get no notifications each step of the way and can choose to block delivery up until the package is in the car. the day of arrival you get a
