for example donald trump... who is described as a high tier level candidate... requires extra police. with trump's visit yesterday... local swat members were called in to provide protection both at the venue and while trump was in transport. those costs can add up... especially when you're paying overtime for many of the swat members. officer tim broadway with reno-pd says when candidates come into town... the agencies meet several days prior to setup a game plan... and part of that plan is trying to avoid as much overtime as possible. we try to use, because we're on a limited budget just like with any other city department, so we try to use officers already on shift when we're scheduling these events with the secret service. we are reimbursed from the secret service budget, so again the cost to the city is nominal. yes... cities can sumbit requests for reimbursement to help cover these costs. we spoke with a local representative for the secret service who said the funds are actually

"ted cruz is a problem. i mean he's got a problem. if you know congressman alan grassman said he's going to bring a major suit. and the suit is going to say that he wasn't born in this country. so whether you like it or not ted has to figure it out because you can't be having a nominee, it he got the nod. i think i'm going to win very solidly, if you want to know the truth. but if you get the

necessary in order for the town of baker -- located near great basin national park -- to replace a leaking water tank. the battle over sage grouse has been going on for the last few years, with several counties attempting to block u-s protections for the bird. in an effort to relieve overcrowding in washoe county schools, a committee is drafting a ballot question so voters can voice their opinions on school funding in november. the "overcrowding and repair needs committee"- is made up of public and private groups-- and was created to look at the needs of washoe county public schools, and find solutions to meet them. the committee unanimously voted to create the ballot question for school funding. and the immediate concern is overcrowding. traci davis/wcsd superindent: what we wanted to avoid at all costs is double sessions. and we do not want kids at a bus stop when it is snowing at four in the morning, or kids free at noon cause they are out at noon without supervision. superintendent traci

slated to begin monday, but the stay brings the proceedings to a stop. goodson drove the van that carried freddie gray from the site of his arrest last april to the police station. gray emerged from that 45-minute ride critically injured and unresponsive...he died days later. goodson is facing second-degree depraved-heart murder and other others. mothers against drunk driving has launched an online petition demanding "affluenza" teen ethan couch's case be transferred to adult court. couch was recently arrested in mexico. he was on probation for killing four people in a 2013 drunken driving accident, when he was 16. he got probation instead of jail time, with the defense suggesting he was too rich and spoiled to understand the consequences of his actions. madd is asking for 30- thousand signatures on its petition by january 19th, before his transfer hearing in tarrant county, texas. madd says transferring him to adult court gives

system a chance to hold him accountable -- by making sure his probation goes beyond his 19th birthday in april. the petition can be found on madd-dot-org. sergeant bowe bergdahl goes before a military court tomorrow... in fort bragg, north carolina. he faces charges of desertion and endangering fellow soldiers. bergdahl disappeard from his military post in afghanistan in 2009 - and was then kidnapped and held by the taliban for five years. he was released in a prisoner exchange for five guantanamo bay detainees in 2014. a well known american artist was found dead in florence, italy over the weekend. florence police say 35- year-old ashley olsen was found strangled in her apartment on saturday. according to reports, olsen's boyfriend was concerned after not hearing from her for a few days, so he asked his girlfriend's landlord to go with him to unlock her apartment. that's when they found olsen's body lying on a couch in the apartment. an investigation is now
