near the intersection of patton drive and wedekind road have been arrested... reno police say the two suspects are darius jones and christina rooney. jones is charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of firearm with missing serial number, ex-felon in possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property, trafficking and possession of a controlled substance. rooney is charged with trafficking, possession of a controlled substance... possession with intent to sell and child endangerment teh incident happened around 7:45 last night at an abandoned apartment building. police say two people were robbed in the building and one of them was shot. they were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. police are still looking for a third suspect. sparks police are also looking for three men who forced their way into an apartment just before 8 o' clock last night on 18th street. according to reports... the three suspects forced two people inside the apartment to get on the floor - one of those victims was hit in the head.

police say two of the suspects were last seen wearing black hooded sweatshirts -- the third suspect was wearing grey clothing. they all drove off in a dark four door sedan. if you have any information about this home invasion--or the armed robbery-- call secret witness at 322- 4900. scary moments at the washoe county sheriff's office last night when deputies say a man brought a suspicious package into the building. it happened just before 5 o'clock. the man said he found the package on his door step but didn't know what it was. deputies shut down the building and the parking lot to secure the area and investigate the package. it turned out to be harmless. everything reopened a couple of hours later. nevada is one step closer to increasing the state's minimum wage. district judge james wilson sided with minimum wage hike supporters yesterday -- ruling the petition language doesn't need to be changed. las vegas and reno- sparks chambers of

is 8-dollars and 25-cents an hour, or 7-25 if an employer offers health insurance. the measure would raise the rate to 9-25 an hour in 20-18 -- that number would increase 75-cents each year until 20-24. development company will build hundreds of new homes in verdi and give funding to local overcrowding in the area. the company is building 273 new homes and is dollars to verdi elementary, billinghurst middle and mcqueen high schools -- to help with capital improvements. the school district says the funding won't be enough to fix overcrowding throughout the district, but they have a temporary solution. pete: the new developments coming in, it's going to be at full capacity at verdi elementary school so that school will be filled. mcqueen high school has 14 portable classrooms so that's well over capacity. pete etchart with the washoe county school

going to be difficult as the district moves foward, but their mission is to educate their students. construction on the homes is set to start in may or june. the r-t-c needs your help picking a new name for their new rapid transit line. it will debut in 20-18 to better link downtown reno and sparks. everyone submitting a name will be eligible to receive one free r-t-c '2-ride' pass. to submit a name go to r-t-c's facebook page or the r-t-c transit stations in reno and sparks. the winning name will be announced this spring. virginia city's new spirit "cemetery gin" was introduced on nevada day last year. and now some of the proceeds are being used comstock cemeteries. the sprit is nevada grown and distilled by frey ranch estate distillery out of fallon. a portion of the sales are donated to the comstock cemetery foundation for restoration efforts. one building being restored is a home that

i-r-s now gets a much better picture of who's got what, and where it's located. experts say you can also get flagged if you're making money from the shared economy and you don't pay taxes on it. this applies to self employed people like uber drivers. if you're earning money from this line of work, it's your responsibility to remember to pay your taxes. another way you can get audited is if you lie about your health insurance coverage. people who forgo insurance have to pay a fine. make sure you don't lie about having coverage because the i-r-s will be checking this year. walmart says many of its u-s workers will be getting a pay raise next month. the retail giant says every walmart and sam's club employee hired before the start of the year will soon earn at least 10 dollars an hour. more than a million u-s workers will get the pay hike starting february 20th. it comes about nine months after walmart increased pay for half- million workers to at least nine bucks an hour.
