instead of snow.. residents are dealing with chunks of ice floating down streets.. after powerful waves and high tides flooded entire communities. elizabeth hur oncam close: this storm shattered records in so many cities.. here in new york city.. we came close.. turns out.. we missed breaking the all-time snowfall record.. by one-tenth of an inch. eh, abc news, ny. police are investigating a stabbing that happened at a local motel. reno police were called to the star of reno motel at fourth and arlington around 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon. they say an unidentified woman was taken to renown after she was found with stab wounds to her back and stomach. based on the information we received, information was given to other officers, they were able to locate the suspect a couple of blocks away and reno officers are talking to her now. reno police say the woman is now in custody. no word on what prompted the stabbing. we're getting a look at the man who police say is the suspect in

armed robberies at local convenience stores. 20-year-old austin miller is in custody on two counts of armed robbery and one count of obstructing an officer. police were called to an am/pm on south virginia street after an armed robbery early yesterday morning. a short time later, officers attempted to stop a man matching the suspect description as he left a 7-eleven on wells avenue. the man - later identified as miller - took off running - but was caught by police. officers also found a handgun that miller tried to toss while running away. after he was in custody police learned that miller was also accused of robbing the 7-eleven he was seen leaving just before his arrest. he was searched and found to have property stolen from both stores. 33-year-old adam gardner is charged with robbery and battery with a deadly weapon after being accused of a stabbing in the atlantis casino parking lot saturday afternoon. atlantis security held gardner and a woman until police arrived after they say he tried to stab someone while

the victim was taken to renown, and is expected to be ok. 25-year-old joshua canada is the third person to be arrested in connection with last week's shooting on sutro street. darius jones and christina rooney are already in custody in connection with the downtwon shooting. police say the trio held up a couple threatening them with pistols. the male victim refused and was shot. his injuries were not life-threatening. after the shooting the group ran off. a short time later, detectives found several suspects at an apartment with property taken from the victims, firearms and drugs. and in douglas county, an r-v fire is under investigation after it caught fire on fish springs road yesterday afternoon. sergeant pat brooks with the douglas county sheriff's office says the flames destroyed the r-v and threatened a near by propane tank, prompting a brief evacuation of the property. east fork fire protection district, was able to stop the fire before it reached the home on the property

the reno police department is helping residents in old southwest reno get a neighborhood watch program going again after a recent spike in crime in the area. "a lot of neighborhood watch meetings that i do, there's neighbors that live next to each other for 10 to 15 years and they don't even know each others names, this brings the together for a common cause of protecting themselves." council member jenny brekhus organized a meeting for residents at the mckinley arts and culture center... after hearing from concerned neighbors. the decision comes after several car and home break-ins in the area over the holidays. if you're interested in starting a neighborhood watch program in your area... the easist way to get started is to call reno direct at 334-info. the douglas county community development department will be holding a meeting today - asking for public comments on solar

back now with that brave florida mom -- caught on camera fighting off carjackers -- who were threatening her kids inside -- she's speaking out now in an abc news exclusive -- and gio benitez is here with that script: a trip to the gas station turning into a heroic moment for a florida mother? watch as angie padron fights off 2 armed men as they allegedly try to steal her car? while her children sit inside. angie: i was yelling at him my kids are in the car, don't get in the car...and he got in anyway padron was travelling to miami with her 1- year-old daughter and 7-year-old son when she stopped to get gas? while at the pump, police say these two men-- juan carlos gonzalez and nicholas rosado-tried to carjack her? angie: i was just thinking he was gonna take it and the kids

that's when padron sprang into action? a security camera at the gas station capturing it all? the protective mother sprinting around to the driver's side door-diving into the car after one of the men... pulling him out of the vehicle and stripping off his mask. the two would-be carjackers are then seen running off camera - allegedly fleeing the scene in a getaway car. angie: i didn't even think about guns or what they could have done to me// i just thought about getting the kids out. padron's son, evan, seeing the whole thing from the backseat. evan: my mom was yelling at him, saying get out of the car, get out of the car, get out of the car right now. the suspects were spotted by police less than a mile away from the gas station? authorities arresting the two men and their alleged getaway driver? identified by police as rebecca utria? the trio now facing charges for attempted armed carjacking and eluding police. gonzales, who is 17, was determined to be a minor... and is no longer being held at the county jail. the other two suspects remain behind bars on $25,000 bond.

"i have never seen two people happier to go to jail. because they knew they were going to be dry and warm." police found a number of drugs in the suspects' vehicle ... along with a handgun. the two fugitives were hiding in a wooded area along highway 50 in el dorado county. they had no choice but to call 9-1-1 as a winter storm moved in. the pair huddled together overnight to keep warm... then on saturday morning...the swat team found them...and they were transported to a waiting ambulance for treatment. both men were treated at a hospital and turned over to authorities for arrest. turning now to a massive manhunt

inmates escaped a california prison. authorities warning the prisoners are considered armed and dangerous. abc's kayna whitworth has the latest. script: this morning southern california on edge as the search for three escaped inmates turns desperate. sot orange county sheriff sandra hutchens i consider them very dangerous individuals and its not unlike this type of individual to obtain a weapon officials say the three men on the run for a fourth day are considered armed and dangerous. they escaped from the maximum- security jail friday after cutting though a metal grate and half inch steel bars, making their way to the roof and then using a rope like this - fashioned from bed sheets to rappel to the ground. sot brad garret you can see in this surveillance video released overnight a shadowy figure , then a flicker, police say they believe that is one of the men moving across the roof. all three were awaiting trials when they escaped ?.? gfx - 37-year-old hossein nayeri, charged with kidnapping and torture.

trump and sanders in the lead. today alone, all of the candidates have more than two dozen campaign stops in iowa planned. kenneth moton, abc news washington more trouble for takata. a tenth death has been linked the company's faulty airbags. as a result, u-s regulators added five million more cars to the 19-million vehicles already under recall. the company released a statement offering condolences to the victim's family. takata has struggled for years since its inflators were discovered to be defective. the bags can explode when activated, firing out shards of metal and glass. takata faces multiple private legal actions, millions of dollars in fines and a u-s justice department investigation. a recall is in effect for various brands of packaged salad -- that could be linked to a deadly listeria outbreak. the c-d-c says twelve people were hospitalized in six states. one patient died from
