42. breezy. chance of precipitation is 80%. sparks police need your help finding two suspects who they say robbed the mccarran mart on east greg street just before midnight. a clerk at the store said the two men were wearing masks. one of those men ordered her to the ground with a gun while the other took cash from the register. both suspects are described as white or hispanic. the first suspect was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with a black leather vest. the other suspect was clothing with a black beanie cap and white shoes. if you have any information about this robbery call secret witness at 322-4900. this morning on the shooting that left one man dead. sergio alvarado- began acting erratically after a crash on south mccarran monday. officials with the nevada highway patrol reaction crash caused by alvarado-morales. from behind then hit

police arrived and found alvarado-morales holding a knife to his throat. officers say they tased him because he did not listen to commands. det. ken gallop, sparks police dept.: "the taser had little to no effect on that individual. that individual armed with a knife turned on both the officers and advanced toward them in close proximity. the officers on scene fired on the suspect." alvarado-morales was taken to a local hospital where he was pronouced dead. investigators don't know what prompted his erratic behavior, but are asking witnesses and people who know him to call the sparks police department, or secret witness at 322- 4900. an investigation is underway for a fire that started at the sundance apartments on clover way, near west moana lane. fire officials say the fire started in an abandoned unit yesterday, then traveled between walls - forcing people out of at least one apartment. reno police say they

michael henn. they say he's a person of interested in a series of residential burglaries that happened last year. henn is five-foot-ten, 185 pounds, and has brown hair with brown eyes. police say he's not charged with any crime at this point. if you have information about his whereabouts please contact r-p-d or secret witness at 322- 4900. public land experts say a year-old policy regarding wildfires in sagebrush lands is turning out to be the most significant policy change in decades. last january interior secretary sally jewell directed federal resources to fight massive blazes in open sagebrush area, that supports cattle ranching and recreation, as well as providing sage grouse habitat. firefighting officials say jewell's order led more of the nation's firefighting resources, to respond to blazes in the great basin last year. ecologists say it's the biggest management change for sagebrush

enacted in the 19-30s. the reno city council will review and possibly approve a lawsuit settlement between the truckee meadows fire protection district and the city of reno today. the district's board of commissioners approved the the settlement regarding fire services. under the agreement the city and truckee meadows will drop the financial claims against each other. but truckee meadows has to pay a little more than 38-thousand dollars in unpaid worker's compensation. the reno city council will discuss possible changes to the old citi- center bus plaza today. a proposal will be presented to turn the bus terminal into homes, or businesses, or both. if the proposal is approved a search will begin for interested developers. but, the developer would have to enter into an "exclusive negotiating agreement." the site was bought in 2008 by the city of reno for 6.6-million dollars to help facilitate the freight house district redevelopment project. there's only a few days

insurance deadline, so if you haven't signed up, you better get a move on it. one local expert says those who wait until the last minute are typically the same people who wait until the last day to pay taxes. but the process has become more streamlined. "it is best to take their best year. what did you earn in your best year? put that in. then if you earn less than that, well, you get money per month yea. its not as much as you might have gotten, but the difference will come back at the end of the year." alex sampson with health benefits associates says after three years, with the use of the federal site, the process has become pretty painless. he says the office will be open throughout the weekend to help people sign up for insurance. the health insurance deadline is this sunday. students at the university of nevada now have even more options when it comes to transportation. students can now use ' zip-car'. its a service that allows you to rent cars by the hour, day or week. u-n-r students only have to be 18, with a valid driver's license.

but it was all a sting-the two other radicals- were undercover?working with the fbi. after the bureau learned of hamzeh's alleged radical thinking from an informant in september of last year. pierre thomas tag a federal judge has ordered the released of hundreds of documents related to conviction of boston marathon bomber dzhokhar tsarnaev. he and his brother tamerlan placed two bombs near the finish line of the race in 2013. the explosion left three people dead and more than 260 injured. tamerlan was killed during the manhunt. but dzhokhar was convicted and sentenced to death. u-s district judge george o'toole junior ordered that some 600 court filings and exhibits be unsealed. no word yet on exactly when the court clerk's office will begin making the documents public. the c-d-c expanded its list of places on its zika virus travel alert
