hitting the slopes after all this fresh snow, you'll want to be aware of the avalanche danger today. the sierra avalanche center is currently reporting 'moderate' avalanche danger. natural avalanche activity is not expected today but officials say it's not out of the question. however, human triggered avalanches are expected for the backcountry. officials at the center say wind slabs have formed in less typical areas which could be easily triggered.

and skier were rescued over the weekend after riding out of bounds at mount rose ski resort. washoe county officials say two people called for help saturday afternoon after getting lost on the slide side of the mountain. washoe county search and rescue say they made contact with the boarders four 4 later. officials say they were in an avalanche prone area, which slowed the rescue process down. the boarders were found unharmed. it's no surprise that we've gotten a good amount of snow this year in the sierra. today, nevada is conducting the second snow survey of the season... to find out exactly where we're at. we were 110-percent of snow survey. that means, in terms of about an inch and a half more, than is average this time of year. and about seven inches at that time last year. snow survey's are a good indicator of how much water we'll have for summer and how much water we will have in our reservoirs. despite all the snow we've gotten this
