n-h-p says she swerved to avoid debris on the road... over corrected... then rolled. she was taken to the hospital with moderate troopers don't think alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. investigating an armed robbery at the alamo casino on greg street. it happened around 4:30 this morning. the victim is an employee at the alamo and was working as a cashier. according to the clerks statement... the suspect displayed a large silver handgun and ordered the clerk to fill up a backpack. the supect then g rabbed the bag and ran from the casino. the suspect is described as a white male about 5-foot-8 with dark hair and about 30 years of age. at the time.. he was wearing some type of black face paint.. all black clothing and a black baseball cap. fortunately no one was injured. reno police are investigating an armed robbery in stead. it happened at the maverick gas station on stead boulevard just before 4 this morning. officials say the man stole money from the cash register then took

train nevada students in high-paying science and technology jobs. 'the stem workforce challenge grant' was awarded to six programs earlier this month. western nevada college will recieve a portion of the grant for their welding programs. the college of southern nevada and the nevada state college will also recieve a portion of the grant for a program that will teach hydroponics and other techniques for farming in the desert, among other things. turning now to the fight over solar power. the nevada public utilities commission will hold a hearing today on a proposal from n-v energy to "grandfather" some rooftop solar customers. it's in response to the rate increases approved by regulators in december. the proposal includes allowing the lower rates for existing solar customers if they installed or applied for their system by september 10th, 2015. another option would have the higher rates take effect over the course of 4 years. people buying burning man tickets later this month will also pay a "live entertainment" tax for the first time. organizers were

the reno police department's "run with a recruiter" series kicked off at reno high school this weekend. the department plans to add 16 to 18 positions this year-- so officers met with some potential applicants. about a dozen people showed up to work out alongside officers, ask questions, and see if they're physically ready to take the test to become a police officer. "he's got a really strong will to live." i'm jeremy roth. lindsey matherly is back with another look at our forecast. high pressure will bring generally light winds and unseasonably mild daytime temperatures this week. strong valley inversions will continue today, then weaken during the next few days as weak low pressure slowly approaches the west coast. precipitation chances remain slim for the upcoming week. the main short term weather issue is the gusty east ridge level winds along the sierra crest and carson range, generally ranging from 50-60 mph since yesterday with a maximum gust of 74 mph at alpine meadows summit. these wind speeds should trend downward
