typing in the cold can be a pain in more ways than one? natsot: "annoying i need to take off the gloves every time just to send a text" regular gloves don't work with touchscreens. here's why: the fabric blocks finger which activates your phone. nick guy of wirecutter.com, a website that advises on best gadgets, evaluated 12 pairs of touchscreen gloves to find out how well they work. sot gio: "looking at all of these, they don't have the tips we're used to seeing." sot nick guy: they actually sew in silver and copper thread / that conduct electricity and allow you to use your / touchscreen as if you weren't wearing gloves." to test for touchscreen ability, nick camped out in a temperature controlled brewery cooler like this one, keeping it consistently frosty - just above freezing, while he texted, used apps, and played games. now it's my turn with wirecutter's picks? sot gio: "all right, it's cold in here. 37 degrees!" first up: the moshi
11:32 am
sot nick: "these were our favorite gloves in our tests. we found that they were nice and warm but we were also able to type really well with the thumbs on them." sot gio: "how well can i type in a brewery cooler?" well no typos." next up: the north face thermoball etip gloves, for $50.00. nick sot: "the material is a little bit thicker not quit as flexible. but they're still pretty impressive for how warm they are." gio sot: "i feel like i can be in a blizzard. / i was able to type, not bad." nick says all the gloves lose conductivity over time - but sometimes too quickly. that's what wirecutter found with the pair of glider gloves winter style that he tried, which sell for $29.99. sot gio: "i can't get the w." sot nick guy: "we wore them for a few months and they were fine. but then when we went to do our final tests we found that the left hand glove had stopped working all together." /the fact is they can wear out but wearing out in one season
11:33 am
glider gloves told us "we've found that it's about 1% of all gloves that fail early. ..we do back up our product with a 90 day warranty and replace any gloves that have failed or are defective..." graphic nick's advice - get gloves with gripping material on the palm. see how well the phone stays in the glove? and get a tight fit. he says watch out for gloves with extra material or seams on the tip. that reduces touchscreen ability. tag info: dirt and grime also prevent the gloves from working well. so follow manufacturer's instructions when ititcomes to washing - but beware - washing also wears down the thread. wirecutter says most touchscreen gloves do lose two seasons. and now your kolo 8 hour-by-hour weather forecast with lindsey matherly. today: mostly sunny, with a high near 65. south wind around 5 mph. tonight: partly cloudy, with a low around 38. southwest wind around 5 mph. friday: mostly sunny, with a high near 66. southwest wind around 5 mph. friday night: partly cloudy, with a low around 38. west wind around 5 mph. saturday: mostly sunny, with a high near 61. northwest wind around 5 mph. saturday night: partly cloudy, with a low around 36. sunday: mostly sunny, with a high near 62.
