maintain, and operate the course. #### meanwhile... a road construction project just down the road from the golf course, is about to get underway. in april -the regional transportation commission will begin work, to improve the intersecton of pyramid and mccarran. it took a few years, to finish preparing for the project. r-t-c had to acquire, then demolish properties--- that will be paved over-- for the changes. it will take more than a year to complete that phase of the plan. "the project, we expect once we get started out here will be about 20 months in duration. will be traffic controls the entire time. some time crews will be doing some off road work. thanks, jeff. after several rumors, governor brian sandoval says he does not want to be considered for the supreme court. "i notified the white house that i do not wish to be considered at this time for possible nomination to the supreme court of the united states. i have also spoken to senators reid, heller, and mcconnell-- and expressed the same desire to them. the notion of being considered for a seat on the highest court in the land, is beyond humbling-- and i am incredibly grateful to have been mentioned." senator dean heller responded by saying, ""as a friend and former colleague of governor sandoval's, i believe he is eminently qualified for this position. but, i support his decision to withdraw his name from

supreme court vacancy." president obama will meet with senate leaders on tuesday, about the supreme court nomination. all republicans on the senate judiciary committee-- have said, they will not hold a hearing or a vote on a supreme court nominee....saying the nomination should be left to the next president. ### in sparks, police are looking for the people involved in the reported theft of an s-u-v. investigatorsce say it happened yesterday afternoon, around 4-30-- at the intersection of greg street and spice island drive after a minor crash. a woman told police that her vehicle was hit by a dark green, early 19-90's chevy or g-m-c s- u-v. she says, when she went to check out the damage, a man jumped into the drivers seat of her s-u-v ... demanded money, then drove away. the other driver also tok off. police say the man is described as white-- with a bald or shaved head, in his 30's he has a tattoo on the left side of his head, near his ear -- and full

the woman in the s-u-v, that hit the victim-- is white and in her 30's, with blonde hair. the stolen vehicle is described as a grey 2000 g-m-c yukon, with a u-n-r sticker in the rear window. if you know anything, call secret witness at 322-4900. they're offering a 1- thousand dollar reward for information. ### a new tax on medical devices has patients, those who care for them, and medical device dealers angry and exasperated. nevada's department of taxation says devices like c-pap machines, oxygen tanks, even monitors on infants can now be taxed. the amount is equal to a sales tax. and there are estimates it could generate up to a million dollars for state coffers. other medical devices companies throughout the state are behind a petition to ban the medical devices tax. he says so far they have half of the signatures they need to end up on the november ballot. if you'd like to know more about the petition, go to our website and look for this story, there is an email address for you. nevada's department of employment, training and rehabilitation revised their numbers for the state's unemployment rate for 2015. the unemployment rate was downgraded to six point seven percent, it was originally estimated to be six point eight percent. the new estimate shows the silver state gained more jobs than originally thought. reno, sparks gained over seven thousand jobs.over two thousand more jobs than previously reported. they say the revision was made because more date became available. going skiing and snowboarding is a fun weekend activity for most. how a non profit is empowering some disabled veterans. it's a tradition for many. going to the black rock

it's a special week they're being treated to a week of skiing... even though many of them can't walk. the adaptive sports program "achieve tahoe" is helping vets learn new ways to do winter sports. today... despite a loss of limbs... paralyzation... or p-t-s-d... these vets gave it their all... and had pretty impressive results. "hope every body gets the opportunity, that has a disability, to come out and try some of these other activities that are out here and they'll find out real quick how nice it is to get back out and get as close to normal as what you used to be." achieve tahoe is a non- profit program based out of alpine meadows. it offers specialized lessons-- to anyone with a disability... not just vets. it's a way to give back to the vets. ### the washoe county school district police department lost one of

k-9 amis--- lived with officer mark sa-bow s-zabo and his family. they worked alongside each other, for nine years. amis died earlier this month-- of natural causes. amis specialized in drug detection, on campuses. ### ?how much do you think the average burning man festival goer spends?? turns out, on average, about two thousand dollars is spent per person last year. according to the black rock city census, people spent about 6-hundred- dollars in nevada, most of which goes to food. about 80-thousand people came for the week-long celebration last year. the black rock census, is a survey-- conducted at, or after burning man, that gathers data on the festival. ### reno's new soccer team announced their name today... with a nod to the city plus...the state playoffs are underway.
