reno area highways. no major delays on highways in northern new this morning. police say the traffic lights are out at the intersection of plumb and arlington because a mini-van reportedly hit the electrical box. police say they believe the driver of the mini- van may have fallen asleep at the wheel. no word yet on when the traffic lights will be restored. northbound lanes on arlington from plumb are closed. stay with kolo 8 news now for any updates. one person is dead ... and two others injured following an officer involved shooting in silver springs. kolo 8 news now's matt vaughan joins us in studio with the latest

this incident spread across two counties and ended with a shootout between law enforcement and one of the suspects. according to lyon county sheriff al mcneil... a deputy was shot in the hand... the injury is non life threatening. ... this all started with a report of a stolen vehicle in sparks around 9:30 last night. a short time later around 10 p.m.... the sheriff says a lyon county deputy spotted the stolen vehicle.. a red chevy cruze.. in the parking lot of the silver springs nugget. as the officer approached the vehicle ... someone in the car shot at him ... at which time the officer returned fire. sheriff mcneil says that suspect was killed. a second person in the vehicle was also shot. mcneil says everyone involved is accounted for and there is currently no threat to public safety. sheriff al mcneil/lyon county sheriff's office " at this point we have all the subjects accounted for...one of the subjects did admit it was just the four of them in the vehicle. the second person who was shot was flown to the hospital. the extent of their injuries is not known. the deputy involved in

taken to a hospital for the injury to his hand. two other people ran from the scene but were later arrested. the names of the 4 suspects and the deputy involved have not been released. sheriff mcneil was not able to say how many shots were fired or how many weapons were recovered at the scene. being handled by the nevada department of investigations. northbound lanes on sun valley boulevard at east 5th avenue were closed for hours after a rollover accident around 1 this morning. deputies from the washoe county sheriff's office say one vehicle was involved in the crash. they say the woman driving the vehicle had to be extricated and was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. deputies believe alcohol may be a factor in this crash. and police in the bay area are looking for two suspects who they say were involved in a lake tahoe shooting last month. investigators from el dorado county are searching for 24-year- old domenic sean-lee

old dion jermaine randolph vaccaro. they believe these two men were involved in the murder of dennis wright on january 30th at the beverly lodge. they're considered armed and dangerous. last week, 18-year-old tristan batten and 20- year-old harvest davidson were arrested-- for their alleged involvement in the murder. secret witness is offering a 2-thousand dollar reward for information about a home invasion on foster drive near hunter lake drive. police are searching for two men who they say went into a home and attacked an elderly man inside wednesday night. they say the attackers could be driving an older white two-door car... with a black stripe down the driver's side door. they're described as hispanic or light skinned black men. one is six feet tall, with

as five foot eight inches tall, with a heavy build and a tattoo on one of his forearms. if you have any information call secret witness at 322-4900. a jury in yearington is deciding the fate of a silver springs man accused of killing his girlfriend's son back in 2010. cody wallace is charged with the death of 2- year-old thomas o'connell the fourth. according to reports wallace was watching the boy while his girlfriend was at work. during that time the boy suffered severe injuries to his head. wallace claims the boy fell and hit his head -- but, prosecutors say that can't be true--- and the boys injuries prove this point. "we don't have to prove that the injuries were accidental. the district attorney's office must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they were intentional." butt with "these injuries could not happen from one or two or three falls from a chair. they couldn't

make sense you fall once." after the closing stateemnts from the attorney defending prosecutor, the jury began discussing the no word on how long it will take them to reach a decision. sad news to report this morning.. police say two horses were hit on highway 50 -- east of dayton -- early yesterday morning. the horses were reportedly hit within a few hundred yards of each other. one was killed on impact, the other was injured and had to be euthanized. as for the drivers, police say one was taken to the hospital with minor injuries -- the other reportedly left the scene. n-h-p says if you do hit an animal, you should never leave.

department of agriculture say this stretch of highway has had horse problems for the last two decades. donald trump took incoming fire for much of the thursday night debate. marco rubio had been avoiding strong attacks against the republican front runner for months. but on the stage in houston...that all changed. if he hadn't inherited 200 million dollars you know where donald trump would be right now selling watches in manhattan... this was the final debate before almost 600 delegates go up for grabs on super tuesday. trump's other main rival ted cruz also went on the offensive against the billionaire....turning a five man debate into a 3 man argument.... everytime anyone points at donald's actual record what he said on national television donald yells liar - let me tell you someone falsely accusing someone of lying is itself a lie and its something donald does daily. trump meanwhile offering an explanation as to why he hasn't yet released his tax returns - which became a hot issue after mitt romney suggested wednesday the documents could contain a quote "bombshell." i will absolutely give me returns but i'm being audited now for two or three years so i can't do it until the audit is finished. cruz shot back by saying if trump claims he's being audited -- that should add urgency to release the documents. both he and rubio said they would release new returns within the next few days.

disabled veterans up in tahoe. they're being treated to a week of skiing... even though many of them can't walk. the adaptive sports program "achieve tahoe" is helping vets learn new ways to do winter sports. yesterday... despite a loss of limbs... paralyzation... or p-t-s- d... these vets gave it their all... and had pretty impressive results.
