school basketball.. the state playoffs, -- where if you win, -- you're in the championship game. we've got all the highlights tonight in the sports caravan. thanks for joining us tonight. i'm noah bond. the search will continue for two missing men on donner lake--- at 8 o'clock tomorrow morning. they're from the west side of the sierra in california... and were vacationing on donner lake, which sits about 10 miles northwest of lake tahoe. around 4-45 this afternoon---- two foot swells with white caps knocked their canoe over, and they fell into the cold 40 degree water. seargent robert womack with the truckee police department says they were not wearing life jackets. the search was suspended at sundown-- because of the high winds, and dangerous water conditions. ### a virgin mary statue was vandalized in the north lake tahoe area-- at our lady of the lake church, in kings beach. the vandals broke the head and fingers off of

church plaque. investigators say they believe this case may be connected to other churches around the north-side of lake tahoe. anyone with information is urged to contact the placer county crime stoppers at 1-800-581-6325. there's a 1-thousand dollar reward for an arrest. ### authorities in lander county are investigating a strange incident-- on a state highway, between monday morning-- the burned wreck of a small station wagon, was discovered on highway 7-22 at carroll summit. inside, were the charred remains of what's believed to be a man. the sheriff's office says it's waiting for autopsy results, but at the moment-- the incident is being investigated as a possible crime. the body--apparently-- was burned beyond recognition. it's believed the fire must have happened sometime on sunday night-- along the rarely traveled road in the des-ah-toy-ah desatoya mountains. ### he was on trial for the

today a jury found cody wallace not guilty. wallace was found not guilty of first degree murder and manslaughter. he was found guilty of child abuse-- causing substantial bodily harm. wallace faces two-to-20 years in prison, for the child abuse charge. it was back in november of 20-10 when wallace was left alone with his girlfriend's son. wallace called 9-1-1-- and said the child stopped breathing. the boy, later died. ### more than a dozen maltese dogs... that were rescued from a puppy mill in silver springs, are looking for good homes. kolo 8 news nows chris buckley met some of these rescue dogs this afternoon... she's here tonight with more on their story. chris. noah a lot of these dogs had been mistreated for years... and it showed when they were finally rescued. but they've come a long way in the past two months.... and now are looking to find forever homes. "this is henry he's one of 19 dogs rescued from a puppy mill." and one of the oldest.... of more than 2-dozen

mill in silver springs. "we estimate him about 10 but his teeth are so bad it's hard to tell." medically, he's one of the worst off. "he was debarked so he has no tissue in his trachea it make sit hard for him to breath, he has episodes where he's almost died, they can't put him under just there to make more puppies." from four months to ten years - showed signs of neglect. "all of the dogs hair was extremely matted, they hadn't been groomed in forever, they were covered in their own urine, a lot of them had urine burns, some of them had to be put down because of the conditions they were in." but since being rescued in december, there's been some big changes. "it took them about two weeks to really start realizing how to be a dog. now they're coming up to us, they wait for us, they're awesome." two have already been adopted...
