the ultimate outsider tells you this is going to be an epic clash. we always look for, why is this race going to matter? be a hard one to define. if this is hillary clinton what the big forces are. the voters are speaking to that right now. >> what did we learn about donald trump last night? i know that rick mentioned he can appeal to the cracker barrel crowd. what did we learn about donald trump? >> you really look at those exit polls. different groups. but the one group that really -- i just -- it shocked me the most is evangelical voters. he edged ted cruz out. it was close but he edged him out. this is someone ted cruz called vulgar and profane but the thrice married gop front-runner won evangelical voters tonight. >> by the way, my mom who does study bible closely says two corinthians is acceptable. >> i was going to say to play the contrary argument, there is a red flag for trump tonight.

it's good for marco rubio but it was trump's worst performance in the state of minnesota. he finished third place there. with so many midwest states coming up, you have illinois coming up, you have ohio a big prize, those states coming up. perhaps there is a little bit of a silver lining. >> let's point out, he did get like two net delegates out of minnesota. >> we're not talking about the delegates. >> but if it was for the hillary camp, who would the dems like to see run against that they which of the candidates would you think? >> you hear her campaign say against donald trump. and take the example this week. kkk scuffle, the david duke they want to see that front and center. i think you've started to see a little bit of it from hillary. >> we're going to continue to >> we're going to be right back. actually what they learned most from super tuesday that surprised them. >> going to hang out for a little bit? >> you know it. >> announcer: "world news now"

did you learn from super tuesday that you didn't know monday morning? >> thank you for the lexical stylings that make us masterminds. i learned that marco rubio may be smoke and not fire. i am shocked by the fact that he invested as much as he did in states like texas in particular, also alabama and vermont, is going to walk away with a goose egg, a big old round number that is zero of delegates out of these states. this is an a-level campaign. they know how it works and they were expressing we're going to eat into cruz's lead and rack up delegates everywhere. he was confident even talking to george stephanopoulos tonight. he's going to get delegates just about everywhere. >> what doesn't resonate with voters are? >> his attacks, the kind of childish. >> the small hands. >> and spray tan and all that, that is backfired. it reduced him in size literally as donald trump said that little marco rubio. he was reduced in the minds of voters. and it may have backfired. >> that means he didn't get 20% of the vote. >> that was the threshold. they knew this. this was not a surprise and they didn't get it.
2:48 am
things that happened right before super tuesday, when we learned that bernie sanders raised $42 million in february alone. that's more money than marco rubio raised in his entire campaign. what's also surprising is that bernie sanders, who likes to talk about billionaires but doesn't really like to talk about money, was talking about it tonight at his campaign event. >> it doesn't get him any further. with jeb, he had a lot of money but didn't really help him in the end. >> he says he's going to go to the convention. he says he's going to go to the convention in june that has a bounty of delegates. he has the money to go there. >> we were watching you typing coverage. what shocked you as you were there feverishly working? > i got to tell you, one of the most fascinating things to me is the most important quality voters say they want to see in a candidate is that the candidate shares their values. where does donald trump fall in that? he is the worst rated candidate in all the states last night --
