tonight on the big game. but first, it is a wet start to the fall here in phoenix. heavy rains moving across the valley, right now. this is a live look from the news chopper over central phoenix, right now. >> check that video out! should just a few minutes ago outside of our studios and you can see the rain coming down pretty hard ou what can we expect for the rest of the evening? if you are in arcadia or paradise valley, we don't have to tell you that it was raining very hard, there. this is all pushing to the north and the east and if you use the 101, get ready for some heavy rain. no lightning or thunder but definitely, it could cause problems on the road.

heavy rain. north scottsdale and chandler and places like that will be seeing a lot of rain, very shortly. this is the 101" lupe and the dotson ranch will be seeing a lot of rain. this storm cell pushing to the north and east and i think it will be pretty close for chandler but gilbert, and mesa, central and east mesa and it should hold og get ready for a beaded -- a pretty big bit of rain. also, into the mountains, some showers just north of payson and some by like staff. these were packing lightning and thunder so keep that in mind. what about the rest of your evening, tomorrow and weekend? all of those details are coming up next. >> when the rain goes into the valley, you can track that whether anytime, anywhere all

officers have quit the force this afternoon after it is said that they forced a man to eat marijuana to be -- to avoid being taken to jail. >> donna has uncovered new information about the officers involved. donna.>> reporter: the chief has about a month to go before he retires and i can tell you, this is not the kind of news conference tht have as he leaves the department that he wanted to dedicate his life to -- that he dedicated his life to. >> the allegations against the former officers are compelling, appalling and extremely unprofessional. >> reporter: the chief went on to explain that the incident happened at about 3:30 in the morning in the area of 40 fifth avenue and mcdowell.

man and, in the process, found marijuana in the vehicle. they demanded that he either marijuana to avoid going to jail. demanded though, got a few tickets and was free to go. the man complained to the sergeant who told his superior who, according to the chief, did not take immediate action. in yeah, jason mckevitt and microparticle, all three working year, all three still on probation and all three have resigned, lewis, being fired. the lieutenant who reported -- who reportedly did not immediately start an investigation has been with the department for 20 years but only a sergeant for six months. the browns the early -- he voluntarily took a demotion back to the rank of sergeant --

actions of the men and women of the phoenix police department.>> the chief told us the man was reportedly forced to adjust about a gram of marijuana and did so and he did show signs of being sick. the officers were wearing on body cameras but turn them off before the alleged incident. we are told that two officers are being investigated for possible criminal charges other officer, we are told, was a witness but because he was on probation and a rookie, it does not appear that he will make it through his probationary period so, he will resign. >> that is just unbelievable. to the campaign trail. vice presidential nominee, mike pence, preparing to make it stop here in the valley, tonight , at the living word church in the mesa.

a roundtable of pastors that he and donald trump support the nation's police officers and believe there is too much time -- talk of bias and racism within the law enforcement. beginning at 6:30, dennis welch or is going through the security screening as we speak and we will review the report. >> some are all about helping their church but in this case, not so much. neighbors are trying to stop the church from leasing out part of their land to jason bere live outside the north phoenix baptist church to explain what is going on. jason.>> reporter: this is a fight that could drag on for a while. we have church looking to generate more money and a developer determined to break ground. and a number of neighbors doing their best to not let that happen. take a drive down central avenue and you can see, this is unlike any other valley

reporter: and mary crozier wants it to stay that way. the homeowners are taking a stand to stop a new development being proposed in front of the north phoenix baptist church on central and bethany home road. the church is working with a developer to build a three- story, 145 unit, luxury senior living facility on the east side of the church's parking lot. >> even our commercial areas are all lopr fit into the neighborhood and this, too roomy and -- it is inappropriate and will compromise the character of north-central. >> reporter: the developer is requesting that the city rezone the land to allow the project to move forward. the project that ipa claims would be similar to agriculture in gilbert. and attorney told us this is about taking care of the elderly

community as they get older. this is not a shopping center. there was a large part of this community that supports this but many of the neighbors who live along central are not convinced. >> this is one of the last authentic neighborhoods that phoenix has and should be a point of pride.>> reporter: it just so happens that the north phoenix homeowners association will be holding its annual meeting tonight and you can bet the church development is topic number one. greg stanton is expected to be at the next zoning meeting to discuss the issue, being held next week. a man walks into a valley makeup store and walked out with almost $500 worth of stuff that jean -- that he did not pay for. the man was caught red-handed on surveillance video. if you know anything or recognize this guy, calls -- call police.
