debate of this campaign season. now this was supposed to be the boring debate but it definitely had its moments. both men talked about a variety of topics including terror immigration and taxes throughout the debate. they interrupted each other trying to get their points across. both hillary clintons campaign and donald trump were live tweeting during the debate and here is a taste of what they had to say. clintons team hammered trump on his taxes, controversial statements and anti-progressive rights and the lgbt community and donald trump was busy at his computer as well and applauded pence for his praise for law enforcement their strategy to defeat isis and how pence "dominated" the debate. even before the debate started the gop already declared governor mike pence as the winner of this debate. did you see this? this is a snapshot of their page. they said his top moments included talking about the economy and highlighting

this appeared two hours before the debate even took place. the gop later took down this page after realizing it went public too early. >> i just rode the line. i went outside. they say they is have 15-20,000 people outside i've never seen anything like it except that other trump rallies. >> donald trump was in arizona a few hours ago. he spoke to several thousand people in prescott valley and trump brought the crowd to their feet inside and the event center. this was his sixth visit to our state as it now becomes crunch time with one month left until election day. cbs 5 was in prescott valley and has more from todays rally. >> reporter: this was classic donald trump today. this was part stump speech but also part get out the vote effort just one week before ally balloting begins here in arizona. the crowd ate it all up here today. now for the most part he stuck to his core economic issues like trade deals and job

and order issues he's known for like terrorism and immigration. at one point he told the audience i'm going to keep the terrorists out of this country. now right now polls show him in a dead heat with hillary clinton in arizona but he and other speakers urged the crowd to dismiss those polls with a real belief among trump's people and the crowd the polls are just flat wrong. at one point during the speech security had to escort two people out and the one point he did appear to go off the cuff about the clintons. here take a listen. >> it's worse than water gate. it's worse than water gate. the investigation of hillary clinton was rigged. it's a sham and it's one of the saddest things that i've ever seen take place in our country and now she's running for president of the united states. i say very simply what do you have to lose?

issues he didn't address in his speech here today. chief among them those tax issues after that story was published over the weekend that showed he took a $915 milli loss back in 1995 and from here trump is on his way to las vegas for a debate watching party which begins later tonight. in prescott valley, cbs 5 news. hundreds of protesters also gathered outside of that event center and as donna rosihad reports they wanted to make re arizona support him. >> reporter: protesters came out in force and staged an anti- trump rally yards away from where trump supporters were filing into the event hall and while there were no knock down drag out fights there were heated exchanges between two groups. law officers roped off a specific area for the protesters who held signs,

peaceful protest. at the height of the rally, an estimated 200 people were gathered, many of them students from prescott college but others also came on their own, hoping to make a point that donald trump did not speak for everyone in this part of the state. >> we're worried, she needs healthcare and she's going to have student loans, so he's not talking about us. he's talking about everything else. he needs to consider what we need, the people, the little guys. >> we just want people that not everyone in pike county is supports donald trump and his ideas and we wanted to come out in solidarity with the people who didn't feel safe to come out here because of the violence that he has and the places he comes. >> some 150 law officers were on hand to keep the peace. there were some people escorted out of the event hall but as far as any arrests outside, we have not yet received any official word. in prescott valley, cbs 5 news. >> donna thanks.

out the suspicious item. again this is just coming into our news room at the ups processing center there and it's also a customer service center we'll pass along any details as they come in within this hour. well developing tonight glenn dale police are still searching for the man accused of shooting two people they released this surveillance picture of the suspect they got into some sort of argument with both victims on september 23rd. he shot them as they drove away. one was seriously hurt. the suspect was wearing that distinguishable red jacket. it has an s there on it. if you recognize this person please call glenndale police. tonight millions of dollars now being dedicated right here in our state to find justice for sexual assault victims. phoenix police received federal grant money to test 2300 rape kits that's just been sitting untested on store shelves for

get drivers to slowdown for years without much success sot hoa board decided to do something outside the box, going from 20 miles an hour down to 19. the idea is by having the unusual number posted on signs, it will catch drivers attention and get them to slowdown. >> we saw that and it's telling you the message. we really want you to go slow, 20 or less, so 19 message that we'll get into your mind and say we don't want you to go over 20. there are kids around here. >> if you thought 19 miles an hour was an unusual speed limit we found another north phoenix community where the speed limit is 17. neighbors know that it's no guarantee it will get drivers to slowdown but they tell me that it's worth a shot. in the news room, cbs 5 news. >> thanks. heads up for parents who teens are getting behind the wheel if they ever get in

that's because the sheriffs department is expanding a pilot program that will actually send a letter to parents of teen drivers who are pulled over for traffic stops. the department hopes the program will open communication lines between parents and teens on traffic safety. well tonight people down in tucson want answers after someone shot up a car belonging to an uber driver. the driver's side was shot dozens of times look at this video. told the uber driver dropped off a passenger when those shot windows. but those pellets that you see there that peppered that side door are used forbidder hunting. neighbors said this wasn't the first time something like this happened. >> the second time this has happened in about six months and right in front of my house it's pretty scary. my lease is up next month and i'll be moving out definitely. >> fortunately nobody was hurt. the suspected shooter is under arrest and is now facing aggravated assault charges. well the city of tucson

we're just a few days away from the next presidential debate what a new cbs poll suggests in the race between donald trump and hillary clinton. plus we're getting more answers into that deadly train crash in new jersey. how fast that train may have been going and the evidence now recovered by investigators. food fights, parents losing at this chuck-e cheese how this started inside that family friendly restaurant inside. well new tonight it seems things may not have changed much over at the phoenix va. in fact there's a new report out just issued by the va inspector general. now in it, it said that veterans are still dying while awaiting care at the va health care system. veterans on secret waiting lists have reportedly faced scheduling delays of up to one year. we'll have more on that report and the recommendations coming

arrested two more kids for making scary clown threats against mesa schools. the let's play social media campaign continues to cause chaos, all across the valley last week the county attorney said four kids have been charged with making clown threats against schools while kids may think this is all fun and games, schools and law enforcement agencies are taking these threats very seriously and they could lead to felony charges. of course it's not easy being a clown especially if it's how you earn your money. legitimate clowns in the valley are now concerned about this creepy clown craze. what's now behind this hoax. >> reporter: clown costumes are meant to entertain kids but lately, they are hijacking that joy and presenting serious concerns to the true clowns. >> it's the time of the year for spooking. but who may be behind these scary clown masks is creating list area. >> i've gotten letters from

massive fight inside a chuck e cheese in miami. a witness recorded video of the chaos and posted it on twitter and this fight started between two guests and quickly got out of hand. witnesses said the fight lasted ten minutes and those poor kids inside when these idiots were fighting they all ran away. police broke it up and no arrests were made. imagine being all alone in your bedroom and your house alarm goes off alerting there's a stranger inside. that's what happened to one woman and it was all watch as the man hospitals the backyard wall, opens up the back door inside the california home. police came but the man was long gone only making away with her purse. she says this could have been much worse. >> if i woke up a little bit earlier, if i didn't push that snooze, i would have been down here when he would have came in. >> as for that thief police have yet to catch him. a story making big head
