exactly what caused this explosion. we sent cbs 5's jeff vanzant to get some answers. >>reporter: it's incredible to think that nobody was killed in this massive explosion because when you look at what we have here all it is is just a massive pile of rubble and you can see the utter destruction that this explosion left behind. fire investigators have been sifting through this debris all their day long trying to piece together what happened in this explosion. we've hearing from family members of some of the people who actually lived in th report some type of smell of gas earlier in the kay. 9 people were home at the time of the explosion. 6 were hurt. one woman had severe burns and was flown to a hospital in phoenix. payson fire said the building exploded around 8:00 last night. relatives of couple with two kids tell us they were inside the apartment when the commotion threw them around. they have a two-year-old and 5 month old a miasmasingly they

burns and bruises. a man that lived nearby ran over to help. >> i saw those two girls each holding a babe two guys with them they were over in front of a car. they all this soot on them. i asked did everybody get out okay. >>reporter: of course it is still very early on in this investigation but investigators every single thing that they are hearing about especially if there actually was a gas leak and if the fact that possible city workers responded to that gas leak earlier in the day. of course it's still under investigation. i'm jeff vanzant cbs 5 news. l i'm sorry i'm late. >> he's not as well-liked.
