live from cbs 5 news, breaking news. >> all across the country tonight, protesters taking to the streets, chanting, shouting and even angry outside the white house. >> they are making their voices heard. you're looking live at chicago right here. protesters have been marching for hours. right now what we're showing you is oregon. they are in earlier, in chicago, they were outside the entrance at trump tower but this shot right here is a portland. let's go to the west coast. a massive gathering in seattle. you can see protesters shutting down streets, gathering by the thousands. >> we are taking you on a tour across most parts of the country.

portland, oregon. we're showing this because this crowd has shut down several bridges along interstate 5. let's take you to oakland, california. again, looking live at the protests in the bay area. this group of protesters, a little bit different from others across the country, shutting down an entire intersection and they just litmus fire. we have new video coming in from dallas, texas where people started marching about an hour ago. as news of this protest spreading in texas, people in other cities started gathering, trying to make a statement. they are saying they are just not happy with the election outcome. in boston, protesters gathered outside the massachusetts statehouse. you can hear them chanting, carrying signs that say "we will not be silenced.">> [ cheering and applause ]>> now to new orleans where protesters set fire to a fake trumped all. they are chanting "not our

phoenix there was a candlelit vigil to show solidarity and for people to show feelings and reactions to the election. >> in tempe, protesters taking to the streets sending a message to the new commander in chief that they don't want him in office. amanda goodman was there with the latest. >> reporter: the group marched right here along university avenue. you can see the asu campus. they ended things on old maine and and clear. >> not our president. not my president. >> reporter: this video was taken by one of the protesters participating in the anti-trump presidency movement. the group of several dozen chanted their way up and down university avenue. their words "not my president," and "stronger together." they chose to voice their

anti-trump sentiment that we saw out here tonight. a small group also marched with their own signs, saying it's time for the divisiveness to come to an end and first -- for everybody to come back together. >> we are just trying to get two political parties to unite, come together under one cause. both hillary and obama said we need to come together. make this a smooth transmission -- transition. >> reporte: this protest did remain peaceful. we did see police officers including tempe and asu officers when we arrived as things wrapped up but as far as that, everyone dispersed peacefully once the protest was over. amanda goodman cbs 5 news. and students from at least three phoenix high schools walked out of class today, walking to the state capital to protest donald trump winning the presidency. the students from central,

many of the students say trump does not represent them. >> we are following breaking news in phoenix happening right now. camelback road is now closed between 16th and 18th streets after a man was hit and killed by a car. firefighters on the scene tell us that the driver didn't stop and is now staying on the scene to cooperate. >> i can't say enough about him but i do appreciate the outpouring of support and he is going to be so >> a community and morning after shallow police officer darrin reed was shot and killed. officers say daniel erickson opened fire on darrin reed yesterday outside a fast food restaurant and then took off. he holed up in a cabin with a 15-year-old girl for hours. police say he eventually fired at them, they shot back killing him and we're told the girl is safe tonight.

>> carissa is out there now where a vigil just wrapped up. carissa? >> reporter: well, the flames here at the vigil site are still burning brightly. even at this hour, folks are still coming by to drop off flowers, signs for the family. this one, we heart you. here is another sign. god bless you all. everyone is pausing to look at this photo of officer darren reed, someone who shared his happiness with everyone he met. >> i just think about all the times that he really coached me on being a woman in law enforcement. >> reporter: 10 weeks ago, officer commission miller -- kanisha miller is talking about the man who always met her with respect and

to take down a situation and he knew how to work his stuff. my initial thought was not that it was going to be fatal. >> reporter: jessica gilmore is married to a show low police officer, part of the law enforcement family. >> he was always smiling, always funny. he really loved to give the other guys a hard time. >> reporter: officer read known for everyone making him known for making everyone feel good. he was months from retirement, planning fishing trips with ems. the vision now, that the guy known for bringing laughter is smiling on high. >> he is a jokester and he loves his bronco. i can picture him up on the colorado river.>> reporter: officer read leaves behind a wife and two to -- and two children. the public safety community is going to help them with anything they need.>> thank

may have been targeting children at arizona mills mall. officers say he followed several children. it happened last friday and he even made contact with some of those kids. if you recognize him, please call police. investigators are still looking into what started this massive house fire yesterday, quickly engulfing that home near 24th and thomas in the homestead historical district the area is known for its large, mature trees. tomorrow, donald trump will tour his new office. president obama invited him to the white house. trump is already getting the scene daily intelligent briefs that president obama gets every morning. >> real change begins with immediately repealing and replacing obamacare. >> one of the main parts of the campaign, the promise to repeal the affordable care act. >> the program had flaws from

of thousands of arizonans now depend on obamacare so we are looking at what comes next. >> reporter: a lot of people are enrolled. we have 36,000 people in arizona who are enrolled. they are housekeepers and landscapers. 35,000 work in the restaurant industry. 35,000 and construction. 26,000 who work in retail stores and the list goes on. that's a lot of people wondering what is about to become of their heth >> reporter: drew left his job and education to open his own business, open -- an option in part because of obamacare. >> i would have been more hesitant if i didn't know about that safety net. >> reporter: he is grateful but dreading an increase in premiums next year. >> i'm afraid to look because i know it will be exorbitant. >> reporter: for him, replacing

repeal would be devastating. he is left wondering what the president-elect will really do. >> if he chooses to repeal a lot of it, all of it, or just a little bit of it. >> reporter: trump surrogates said today a total repeal will not happen. >> the voters don't need to worry about their 25-year-old or younger staying on policies or pre-existing conditions. >> reporter: a partial answer for the 20 million people enrolled.>> of the top issues he tackles first. >> reporter: trump never released details on a replacement pin for obamacare but those hope the uncertainty comes to an end. >> especially now that i am a small business owner. >> reporter: open enrollment is already underway for 2017 here on www.healthcare.gov. jared dillingham ham, cbs 5

let's get a quick look at your forecast. we are sitting at 70 degrees after a high in the mid-80s. still above average. the average high this time of year around 79 degrees. musick clear skies with a week disturbance to the south that will bring a few clouds. as you can see, some shower activity in the morning hours around areas of southeastern arizona but pretty quiet here. temperatures gradually cooling as we get closer to the weekend. in fact we're going to see highs getting into the lower 80s tomorrow. musick clear skies for rush- hour. we will see temperatures in the lower 60s and winds ou east at 5 to 15 miles per hour. here's the seven day planner. fray looking pretty good. wednesday. 82 degrees on saturday, sunday a big day in the valley for sports fans. a lot of action. temperatures up to 83 degrees. clear conditions and then a warm up next week with a ridge of high pressure holding strong. highs in the mid-80s. we are going live to oakland.

the scene. people are out with anti-trump protests. for the most part, we have been watching protests happening across the country and they have been peaceful. that is not the scene in oakland right now. they have been lighting fires. you can see police moving in right now to break up the protest. again, this is in oakland where a fire was started. >> this started at oakland city hall where this group, estimated by oakland police, in the neighborhood of 7000 people peacefully listening to speeches on the steps of oakland city hall before marching to the oakland federal now, just within the last 10 minutes, set these fires, closed down broadway, and as you can see, oakland police have moved into clear the scene and they are probably trying to get the fire crews in their to get the fire out. we understand there are subsequent marches happening in san francisco, in the mission district. we are concentrating on what looks to be this now turning into a somewhat violent situation in oakland,

this up. you can see the emergency crews coming in. the police moving in. it looks like they are bringing in a paddy wagon. they sometimes do a maneuver where they bring in their police and then they start weeding of the problem people, the people causing issues, making arrests and pulling them out of the crowd trying to calm the situation. again, fires being written in oakland and police moving into brup

it's 10:14 pm on your wednesday night. anti-trump protests involved in manager -- in many major cities. in oakland, police broke up a big rally that was starting fires on broadway. oakland police estimates the crowd at 7000 earlier tonight. they just broke up the crowd to try to get this fire out. we continue to follow this breaking news with anti-trump protests not only here in oakland but across the country. we will have more on the situation throughout this newscast. we will protect american lives. we will cancel all federal funding for sanctuary cities. we will stopping little -- stop illegal immigration and dismantle every last, cartel in this country. >> donald trump's election has

families worried tonight. they are concerned that trump will the port many of the undocumented immigrants who are here under president obama's executive action. under the policy, more than 800,000 immigrants who were brought into the country illegally as children, they have been allowed to temporarily stay and work in the u.s. we talked to an immigration lawyer who said that trump would have the authority to overturn the policy. >> can the administration do away with it? absolutely. would it be in the best interest of the republican party, no. would it be in the best interests for people who are paying taxes and raise my family's? no. i think we will hopefully be able to have a dialogue and they will be able to look at the facts.>> of trump repeals daca, social security and other benefits would be canceled.

and we've heard from viewers that it has happened to them as well. it's an email notice saying you have been cited with a photo radar traffic violation and must be your fine within 42 hours. the email is supposedly from the arizona department of motor vehicles and says to make a payment through the link provided. doing so will likely download malware on your device and steal your local -- personal information. you will never get an email from system. they are paid through the courts, period. males typically do not have a violation code or contact information. remember, photo radar officials do not have your email address. if you ever were to see a citation, it will only come in the mail. never click on a link in a strange email of any kind but you will never be notified of a
