the white house. good afternoon everybody. thanks for joining us at noon. president elect donald trump went to the white house to meet with president obama to begin discussions on moving from one administration to the next. >> reporter: donald trump and his wife went to his new home l >> the meeting lasted almost an hour and a half and as far as i am concerned, it could have gone on a lot longer. >> reporter: trump met with the president in the oval office to discuss smooth transfer of power. >> we discussed a lot of different situations, some wonderful and some difficult. >> reporter: the two have had a combative relationship and say it is now time to work together. >> we now are going to want to do everything we can to help

succeed then the country succeeds. >> reporter: first lady michelle obama met privately with melania trump. president elect trump wants to hit the ground running when he wants to move into the white house. he is meeting with paul ryan on capitol hill and they will work aside their differences. >> we will work hand in hand to tackle the country's big challenges. >> reporter: one of the top is to replace obamacare. >> every obamacare was a mistake. >> reporter: appointing a conservative justice to the supreme court. >> in cities across the country thousands took to the streets to voice outrage over the election of donald trump. on the west owes coast protesters set fire in face offs with police. in l.a. hundreds ran to interstate 101 and temporarily shut it down. about 10,000 people packed the

blocking traffic. about 65 people were arrested near trump tower, most for disorderly conduct. >> these are racist homophobic, zono phobic nightmare. >> thousands gathered outside of chicago's trump tower where demonstrators shut down the streets. in phoenix students are expected to take to the streets in minutes to voice frustrations about of donald trump. kylee cruz is live where the protests will start in about 20 minutes or so. >> reporter: good afternoon yetta. the protests are expected to happen about 12:30 outside the arizona school for the arts. we are told that the group of at least 100 students will walk down third street to the margaret t hands park and to downtown phoenix. this is not the first protest

the last 24 hours. >> not our president! >> reporter: last night, a group of people hit the streets to voice their frustration with our new president elect. you can hear them chanting "not our president." there was a small group of trump supporters with signs saying they understand the trump administration is hard to accept but it is time to move forward. also this, about 300 students yesterday from at least three phoe of class and to the state capitol. we don't know if today's protesters will take to the streets or stay on the sidewalks so it might be best to avoid the area if you can. we know lunch time will be happening so this area will be congested. if you can avoid third street and mcdo you over the next hour two.

washington where house speaker paul ryan is set to meet with donald trump. the shot is kind of dark but just seconds ago we know there was a photo op of the two admiring the view. it looks like they're walking through some tunnels. we are going to get a better shot and bring it back in a bit. there was a different tone in downtown phoenix than the one kylee just told you about. this was organized as a way for team se comments throughout the campaign to come together and discuss how to move forward. the event organizer says it was about resistance and resolve. >> i just hope that people are able to know that there are other people out there who are just as sad who can share their stories, who can hug. tonight it's just really about love. >> those who attended talked

equality and tolerance throughout their communities. two days after the election, we are counting votes in arizona. while nearly all the races are settled, one still hangs in the balance. >> reporter: so many ballots, so little time. that's what created this problem in the first place. 415,000 ballots still need to be counted. 55,000 provisional ballots as well. what happened is there are so many ballots that they were not polls tuesday night. election officials say they're not going to be done counting until at last saturday and because there are so many uncounted at least one race in arizona is too close to call. that is ironically enough the

this year. they'll be tackling the ballots untiling the job is done. they're updating the media at 5:00 p.m. every day. when we get that information we will get it to you. >> the irony is so wild. thank you. one man is in the hospital after being shot inside his home in phoenix. this happened near cactus and 22 22nd street. the man had been in an argument with his neighbor earlier in the day. investigators believe the neighbor shot him ro the man was shot twice police say, once in the face and once in the hand. two people have been detained. the victim is in serious condition at this hour. take a look at the intense flames. phoenix firefighters shared this video of a raging fire. this is state avenue near 12th street in downtown phoenix. the homeowner made it out safe. investigators were working to try and determine what the cause of this fire was.

look out for this fugitive from modesto california who may be hiding here in the valley. this is 23 year old tony messias. he also goes by tony gutierrez. he is wanted for felony evading, possession of a loaded firearm in public, carrying a concealed weapon. he is considered a person of interest in a murder investigation and is considered armed and dangerous. if you see him, please call silent witness. the 480-witness. it is important to mention that you can remain anonymous and you will be eligible for a cash reward. shiloh is in mourning for the police officers shot and killed there tuesday. 36 year old daniel erikson shot officer reed outside of a fast food restaurant. erikson then barricaded himself inside a cabin with a 15 year old girl for hours. that girl is safe and back with

attacked the officer. friends say the officer was known for making everyone around him feel happy. >> he had a really great sense of humor, was always smiling, always funny. he loved to give the other guys a hard time. >> the community held a vigil for reed and his family last night. he leaves behind his wife and two kids. if you were looking forward to hitting the slopes tomorrow, you will have to wait another week because arizona snow to november 18th. it was scheduled to open tomorrow morning which would have been the earliest date ever but this warm weather we are having is causing a lot of issues, especially for the snow making crews. we also have you to think for that. >> they like cool temperatures when they fire the snow guns. they're not seeing them but i

let's look at flagstaff. there is your time lapse. looking toward the san francisco peaks, snow bowl tucked away in there. you don't need snow for the snow guns to work. but cooler temperatures is what they're missing. it's kind of breezy, 29-mile per hour sustained winds in tucson, 17 in stafford, phoenix 9. we have seen gusts to 20 today. you have probably seen the trees blowing around. we are clear in flagstaff with no rain or snow, same the valley. lots of sunshine in phoenix. the temperatures are pretty pleasant minus the wind with 77 mesa, mid 70s fountain hills. we have upper 70s in bull head city. here is downtown phoenix in the background, we will see temperatures climb to about 83 today with a pretty nice evening on tap. what about that weekend?

we know they've had throughout the campaign process. he just met with president obama a short time ago. that meeting went for about an hour. we will try to get you better shots and catch him as he is walking in next time, we promise. there was a brawl yesterday in an ohio courtroom. a man barged in during a hearing. police told him to leave but he refused. officers attempted to force him ground. the man has a problem with the cops and courts. he is facing several charges including assault of a court probation officer. one of two western pennsylvania police officers ambushed and shot while responding to a domestic situation has died. police are still looking for the gunman. this happened in canonsburg outside of pittsburgh. officers were responding to a domestic disturbance.

one was killed. the other was flown to a pittsburgh hospital. his condition is not released. investigators have not said if they know who the gunman is. california will begin enforcing a plastic bag ban approved by voters in a statewide ballot initiative. under proposition 67 retail outlets like grocery stores may not give out single use plastic bags. some businesses are already making the switch. >> that awakening. >> i thought where are the bags at? i really didn't ask the lady. i thought maybe they were out of bags. >> how are they carrying the stuff? people can sell recycled paper and reusable bags for $.10. so they have to pay for it if they want it. the big board is looking good. the dow is up 258 at 18,849.

johanesburg south africa yesterday. around 100 vehicles were caught in the floods. a boundary wall at the zoo collapsed and multiple people were reported dead along the highway. this is a mess. wow! stock home sweden measured deepest november snow since records started in 1905 causing widespread traffic chaos. they got nearly a foot yesterday. snow continued to fall throughout the day as well. most planes were delayed or canceled. some schools were closed because teachers and students could not get there. used to snow, it tends to come later in the season and many were caught unprepared. look it he snow on the seats of the bike. >> that's a lot of snow. >> i wonder if the kids have fun in that much snow. >> if sweden says it's a lot of

we get going. let me get the right slide on here. i want to show you a live look at downtown phoenix. lots of sunshine just about anywhere you go in the state. that will be the story today and for most of your weekend. there is northern arizona. here is southern arizona. radar is getting the week off. it is 65 in progress on cot, 62 globe, 77 phoenix. the winds are 9 miles per hour. they have been back and forth, pretty breezy. we are not seeing them toss the trees around too much but we are feeling the winds. that will continue today and a little bit tomorrow. gustiest winds have been in the southeastern part of the state. let's walking through the winds. this evening they do slow down so your evening walk or if you are having a brew on the patio or maybe dinner you are going to be fine. tomorrow as we get going into

we're going to take you live at 12:22. this is a live look at the scene right outside the arizona school for the arts. this is right around 3rd street and mcdowell. you might want to avoid the area. these kids plan to walk out right at 12:25. about 100 students walked out of classes moments ago. the plan is to walk from that school to margaret t park. the point is they're protesting the outcome of the election, protesting who is now president elect donald trump. we also have our chopper -- do we have that shot? our chopper is headed to another protest that's going to happen by students at central and camel back. we are assuming this is central high school. we haven't confirmed that. if it is, this is the school where president obama stopped
