[ chanting ] >> back here in the valley, about 100 students from the arizona school for the arts walked off campus today, and they weren't the only ones. groups of other students marched all the way to the state capital. >> reporter: that's right . once again a large group of students from several schools in the phoenix union high school district staged walkout. they took their protests to the street, and some of them end up here at the state capital again for the second day high. about 200 of them marched and chanted, most of them minority students who say trump does not have their best interests in mind. and for the last 90 minutes, the superintendent posted a scompert a video message to parents on the website. he wanted parents to know if large groups of students attempt to leave

to stay. >> that does not mean that we condone or support students leaving campus. we have very strict performances about missing class, leaving campus. and there are consequences for students who have poor attendance or make choices to leave campus or leave class. and we deal with that on an individual basis. >> reporter: the superintendent said that in the past few days, in all, about 1,000 students have left campus to letter and in his video message that he praises the 27,000 of the 28,000 students in the phoenix union high school district who stayed in class to further their education. tomorrow is veterans day so there is no school. that doesn't mean we won't see more students down here.

if you have a different opinion and different point of view. the bad behavior of adults during the presidential election often rubs off on children. and the amount of hate speech these kids have been hearing is not healthy. >> i'm trying to teach them that when there's negativity presented to them, how to respond in a positive way. whether it's about the election or anything else. it's just teaching them that things are gonna happen in the world that they might not like. and they react in a positive way. >> reporter: teachers across the country have been posting their stores facebook. one student said he was happy today because he hates hillary and hopes she dies. it is important to point out that kids can only learn so much at school. other lessons need to be taught at home. a long-running feud between two neighbors in north phoenix turned into gunfire.

we took your questions to the secretary of state's office and they told us the measure is currently losing in maricopa county. and that's where remaining votes, all 365,000 of them, still have to be counted. so here's the latest on prop 205, the measure to legalize recreational pot. the numbers came in about 90 minutes ago, and it's still losing by about 81,000 votes. the race for maricopa county recorder still

forward, jason introduces us to some valley vets who created a new way to ease their pain. >> hey ! >> reporter: travis is all about physical fitness at this cross-fit gym in chandler. there's more to this place than just helping others stay in shape. >> as a veteran we have a duty to each to other police each other up, and have each others' backs. >> reporter: the u.s. army te waters, a nonprofit group devoted to helping vets suffering from physical and mental ailments, including p.t.s.d.. the group provides cross fit gym memberships to veterans as a form of therapy and an alternative to prescription medication. >> it starts off because you're part of something, part of a community. you're starting to prove to yourself that you can do things that you used to do because of an injury you might not think you can do again.
