(disconnected). >> passing cars between the hov lane and that center barrier. dps says he hit the barrier wall then drove back into traffic hitting 6 other cars. one of those cars caught now we're told the driver who caused all of this and one other man were taken to a trauma hospital. their conditions though unknown tonight. we do know that 8 other people suffered minor injuries as a result of this and this of course as you already mentioned causing a major back up as drivers got caught . on their commute home and traffic at this hour being diverted on to the 60. as you can see tow trucks

the night. it's a classic, a first generation, a 1968 chevy camaro and it was stolen from this mesa driveway. >> you feel rather violated. >> sick to my stomach. >>reporter: parents todd and kelly were holding the car for their navy veteran son jake. he bought it while stationed in california. he just married, moved to vegas and is expecting a child so, he made the tough decision to sell his beloved camaro. >> i y >> you always knew when he was coming home. >>reporter: the car didn't start easy. >> usually had to jump it every time. >>reporter: and it was so loud the family thinks the thieves planned their crime carefully and moved in early monday morning. >> somebody just backed a trailer or tow truck or something to that effect. >> they somehow had to tow it obviously they were professionals who knew what they were doing. >>reporter: oil stains mark the spot where the camaro was parked. no whence, no surveillance

notified sooner. the city of peoria says it did what's required posting alerts on their web site and alerting the media. >> it's very concerning it's kind of scary. at least send out some fliers or information on it. >> the water system is now clean but if you prepared any food with tap water between november 15th and 17th and you freezer throw it out. >> a group of computer scientists are urging hillary clinton's campaign to demand an audit of votes in wisconsin, michigan and pennsylvania. they believe there's a strong evidence now of packing in those states that possibly manipulated the totals. those scientists say there is a questionable trend of clinton doing poorly in areas that use electronic voting machines.

transition team. donald trump says his border wall will cost up to $12 billion. other groups estimate it would cost much more. so what do people living along arizona's border think about that price? derrick staal took a trip to nogales, arizona to find out. >>reporter: daybreak in nogales reveals the breaks in arizona's border fencing. breaks that are on the minds of the breakfast crowd at nichols diner a few miles north. >> we need to have this wall put up. i'm for once you put this wall up that it will make immigration reform come around. >> i think it would be a ways of resources no matter however how extended that wall is built there's always going to be some little hole or some little loophole they are going to find it. >>reporter: the arizona mexico border spans 370 miles a third of it has fencing designed to stop people on foot nearly half the border has primitive

barrier at all. the president-elect has said he wants a concrete wall and some in this border town are worried about the symbolism, including santa cruz county assessor felipe fuentes. >> my feeling is we're going back to the berlin wall. there's going to be a real dividing wall between the two countries. >>reporter: a poll last month by reuters found 47% of arizonans think the wall would be a waste of 34% think it would be an effective barrier. rugged terrain is one reason some analysts project the cost between 15 billion and $25 billion. >> we the people of the united states of america we built interstate 10, we built interstate 40. we went from ocean to ocean. you're going to tell me that you can't put a wall down this? >>reporter: there is one thing people on both sides of the wall debeat seem to agree on in nogales. they don't want to slow down legal immigration from the

derrick staal cbs 5 news. it was a shocking scene coming out of sedona tonight. have you seen these pictures on your social media feeds? an tall piece of our majestic red rocks is missing. two photos of cathedral rock take a look horrible an air we're talking about. it's in the circled area by clunk. just missing. that's where part of that cliff sheared off yesterday during the wet weather. >> all right thank you scene. protester on the side of the proposed dakota access pipeline they clashed over the weekend. back in september phoenix photographer packed up her camera to see these protests for herself. she captured these images. but now fast forward two months and these protest have taken a much different form. look there. on sunday night police used water cannons on people to keep them back and they put out the fires that the protesters started to keep warm.

during today's release. this is really interesting to watch this release. but what's unfortunate is one of the sheep went in another direction it actually ran towards a very busy road and now officials worry that it could be in danger. this is an interesting process to watch though. so, if you see a lone bighorn sheep near ina and oracle if you're down in the tucson area you are asked to please call hidden safety defects in your cars. our investigation found vehicles with safety defects and recalls for sale online and all over the valley. >> as investigative reporter morgan loew tells us it's putting your family at risk and it's perfectly legal. >>reporter: they are on our roads and in our driveways. they look like any other car,

that can make them deadly. in june "stark trek" actor anton yelchin died when his 2015 jeep grand cherokee rolled down his driveway and pinned him against a brick mailbox pillar and security fence. the car was the subject of a safety recall. last year alone the auto industry recalled more than 50 million vehicles due to safety defects and concerns. fewer than half of them are believed to have been repair used car lots online car auctions. we even found government vehicles for sale with open safety recalls. we took photos of vin numbers at used car lots across the valley. then ran those numbers through a federal recall registry and we found lots of problem cars. like this kia soul with a transmission shifter, safety recall that could lead to unintentional movement and an

this bmw 7 series has a problem with the transmission switching to neutral rather than park. and this range recovery with a risk of breaking loss due to ruptured brake hoses but that's not all. >> we found recall vehicles listed for sale at auto auctions like this 2004 nissan x terra whose steering shaft may break which could result in hi a loss of steering control. we even found recalled vehicles for sale sale government. like these surplus chevy silver a do's within recalled takata airbags. these airbags have been blamed for 11 deaths across the u.s. how come common is it for you to buy a car at auction and find out that there's a recall? >> very common. >>reporter: steven strict steen is a long time independent car dealer whose company policy is to always tell customers about safety recalls. even though there is no law that says he has to. >> the law doesn't require a

dealer to do any work on the car or to disclose it. that's the law. >>reporter: last year lawmakers in washington d. c. voted down an effort to force all used car dealers to repair these cars before they sell them. >> so if you're buying a used car what can you do to make sure that it is a safe used car? >>reporter: you can go to this free government web site safer car.gov and punch in the vin number just like we d manufacturers will fix these cars for free. that's the best part of this. >> very little effort with a lot of pay off when it comes to safety. i know you put all that information on our web site and our mobile app. >> yes. >> morgan loew thank you. >> speaking of cars a superstar's pricey ride will be up for auction at this year's barret jackson auto auction. this is steven tyler's tennessee venom gt spider. it cost a million dollars when
