finally, as this storm pattern that's been with us the last couple of weeks looks like it's going to give way to warmer and drier weather. not necessarily today, but come next week. we will see the rain continuing to wind down, looking across san jose here, we see wet cameras, which has been the norm of late. lots of clouds and some light shower activity throughout the area. taking a look at high- definition doppler radar right now, we see the returns showing up here, mainly across the east bay. notice it beginning to break as we see the back end of this energy arriving at the coast. frontal boundary has now pushed through the area. still lingering showers. taking a tour around the bay, up in the north bay, around napa and moderate to light returns there. notice the back side, things drying out quickly. same thing across the south bay, as that rain shower, leading edge of it is moving off now into the interior and into the highcountry of the
9:16 am
sierra, where we'll continue to generate copious amounts of snow. taking a look at the expectations for this afternoon here, we'll see that showers should be winding down across the region here, much as we see this morning. still light shower activity out there. we'll hang on to the clouds. temperatures in the upper 50s for most locations, maybe a low 60 out across the interior, as once again, we will see a gradual drying out and improving trend here through the afternoon. now, the center of circulation with this frontal boundary is well to our north. so that's where most of the energy is and it's moving inland. the tail end is sweeping through the bay area at this time and we did just see the back edge of it beginning to come across the coast. so we can expect conditions to continue to taper off through the day. 24-hour rainfall totals as of 5:30 this morning looked like this. much less than expected. we are looking for an inch and a half in the north bay. we got half an inch. still soggy out there, but less rainfall amounts than originally anticipated. and that's a good thing. we got another weak wave headed our way for tomorrow, which
9:17 am
could bring even less rain, maybe a tenth of an inch. more better weather to come. beginning and continuing into most of next week, we'll see a drying trend set up out there with warmer temperatures across the area. here goes the rain for today. by midday, should be moving off into the central valley, leaving us high and dry across the shoreline. again, clouds and a few light showers. here comes the rain for tomorrow. that's looking much lighter than what we saw, even this morning. so we can expect maybe a tenth of an inch of rain or less across the region with that next frontal boundary. thereafter, we can expect conditions to dry out not so fast. winter weather advisories up in the highcountry. way too much snow with more expected today into tomorrow and then they, too, will clear out a bit come early next week. as we can expect temperatures
9:18 am
today to prevail, in the mid to upper 50s for most locations in and around the bay area here, as we get a look at the seven- day forecast. we continue to see the showers, although it should be relatively light through the weekend. then as you can see, improving trend into the beginning of the week, as temperatures warm to where they ought to be, into the low 70s and upper 60s. look at that, almost five to seven days of dry weather. can you handle it? >> imagine that! >> put the rain gear up for a change. i'm sure there's more showers on the way. a nice break setting up. we'll let the ground soak up some of the rain, a good thing. >> how long normally do we see rain? >> into may, we see light shower activity. we're 130% of normal for this time of year, so we're in great shape. all the lakes, vees sores and rivers are full, which could cause a problem come snow melt time. we'll deal with that when the time comes. >> at least we have the water we need. we talked about the drought for so long.
