4:33 am
are still missing. but pg&e is wanting to make clear this morning that a 20% cut in its so-called backbone pipes would cause a lot of problems for consumers, reducing the system's available gas by 67% according to pg&e and cause uncontrolled customer outages as well as pilot light problems alsoly. the gas storage options. several times a year they like to get more gas in and store it for tougher times and it could also cause electrical blackouts because many power plants actually run on gas. now, there are a lot of rules that the puc has put forth that pg&e has agreed to such as improving communication when it has problems, and when it's doing construction on lines, also installing some of those complete shutoff valves but some of these other rules specifically cutting the gas line pressure causing some

with lawrence to tell us what's happening outside. good morning. >> good morning. yeah, looks like it's going to be a pretty nice day outside. high pressure building in but this is what's interesting. you see that ridge building in the core of it will stay off the coastline. that means clouds will dump over the top of the ridge so we have some partly cloudy skies in the forecast for today. we'll see that on and off over the next couple of days and chance of showers in the north bay. out the door chilly, 39 in napa, 43 in concord, 43 fremont and 45 degrees right now in san jose. by the afternoon a mixed bag of sunshine and couple of clouds moving in. highs expected to be in the mid- 60s inland, lots of 60s inside the bay, 50s at the coast. the next couple of days, guess what, we've got some pretty nice weather. it will be interesting. you know, we are going to see a lot of these temperatures 70s inland. at the same time there is a slight chance we could see some light showers north of the golden gate bridge just about each day as you see a lot of those clouds dumping over the top of the ridge.

4:45 am
buried. we're asking and pleading with them at a last-minute call, do not disturb this site. >> now, the city says it is not violating the civil rights of native americans because the ohlone tribe is not federally recognized. the search begins today for bart's new general manager. dorothy dugger resigned yesterday after 19 years on the job. the move was expected since february. that's when bart's board illegally voted to fire dugger without scheduling a public meeting. the board later had to rescind the vote. dugger will be paid almost a million dollars in severance. 4:45. mixed news in the housing market this morning. the lessing from reality track says between february and march the number of foreclosures rose 13%. that's the biggest month-to- month increase in a year. on the other hand the number of foreclosures in the 1st quarter of 2011 was 17% lower than the same period last year.

4:51 am
six degrees above yesterday. so plan on moving well into the 60s some spots inland, 60s at the bay and at the coast, 50s, maybe some low 60s toward the afternoon. so that ridge of high pressure trying to build in behind that cold front that brought us some showers yesterday and here it is kind of a dirty ridge. a lot of that energy still running over the top of the ridge to bring you a few more clouds and occasionally there is a chance we could see some light showers in parts of the north bay. so a rather flat ridge that's making its way across the pacific. yes, we're going to be warmer in the 70s but occasionally moisture running over the top of the ridge brings more clouds and at least a slight chance of some showers mainly to the north. overall, though, we're look pretty good. this afternoon, 65 degrees in morgan hill, should be 66 in san jose, 64 fremont, cooler toward the coastline. let's plan on 50s and low 60s there. east bay partly cloudy skies with temperatures as high as 67 in brentwood for today. about 65 in pleasanton. 66 degrees in concord. our friends in the north bay
4:52 am
should expect cool start to the day but then as we head toward the afternoon, the temperatures going to warm up nicely. about 67 degrees in napa, 65 in santa rosa and 62 degrees in san anselmo. so looking out over the next few days, yup, we have some warmer weather on the way and yes, there still is a slight chance that we could see some showers mainly to our north. it looks like we head in toward the weekend going to hold on to that ridge as well but by monday i think a better chance of some showers alls across the board around the bay area. all right. time for a traffic check with elizabeth. >> thank you, lawrence. let's go out towards the dumbarton bridge. we have some more overnight roadwork here, as well. this morning just in the eastbound lanes of 84 heading up towards the high-rise various lanes blocked right now. westbound 84 if you are heading towards the toll plaza traffic looks great. i realize it's a little difficult to see that shot this time of the morning. all right. more roadwork this time in san ramon. i had mentioned this a little earlier. northbound and southbound 680, both directions, we have various lanes blocked until 6:00 this morning from that stretch between alcosta and
4:53 am
rudgear road. various on- and off-ramps across that stretch are also blocked until about 6:00. all right. san mateo bridge, here's live look. westbound traffic on 92 that's the right side of your screen. those taillights are heading towards the peninsula. quick trip this morning all the way towards foster city. the ride coming out of the altamont pass great so far. 13 minutes out towards 680 and the dublin interchange. really seeing top speeds all the way into pleasanton towards hopyard. marin county not much roadwork, southbound 101 nice flow of traffic all the way down towards the golden gate bridge. they have not done the lane change yet. give it another couple of minutes. drive time southbound 101, eight minutes, so not too bad, between highway 37 and 580 in san raphael. and for your silicon valley commute, westbound 237 if you are leaving milpitas here's a live look coming around that bend. that is westbound 237 towards san jose. mass transit off to a great start, as well. bart has about 20-something trains right now running on

time. ace, muni metro and caltrain also look good. and, of course, be sure to remember kcbs, our radio partners, at 106.9-fm. 740-am and 106.9 fm. back to you. >> thank you. signs of alzheimer's disease may appear up to 10 years before the illness is diagnosed. that's according to harvard researchers who performed brain scans on more than 60 people. they measured brain size and areas believed related to alzheimer's. scientists say if their research pans out it could lead to new information on autism and depression. well, first you may remember that 15-month-old who was accidentally served a margarita? well, now another tipsy toddler at a family restaurant. different drink though. this time at olive garden in lakeland florida. last month the 3-year-old was accidentally served sangria instead of orange juice. sangria is a mixed drink of orange juice, pineapple juice and white wine. the boy's mom said it took 30 minutes for her to realize
4:55 am
something was wrong. >> he was acting up. he was misbehaving. his eyes were bloodshot. how can you be so disorganized that alcoholic beverages could even get into a kid's cup that you wouldn't know the difference? >> the boy was taken to the hospital. he checked out fine. the restaurant apologize. it's unclear if the mother plans to suit but she has a lawyer. >> i saw this one coming a mile away. that case was only made public, you know, after the kid in michigan was accidentally served a margarita mix at applebee's. now those parents do plan to suit restaurant. the suit claims emotional distress and seeks monetary damages for medical bills and noneconomic losses. that little boy had a blood alcohol tenth of .10. his family said -- content of .10. the family said he had a hangover for days after the incident.
