actually see some 70s in the inland spots like you see here in concord. mostly sunny skies there and along the bayshore to the coast you may linger -- see fog lingering into the afternoon but nice temperatures there temperatures in the 60s. so beautiful day in store. how's traffic looking for elizabeth? >> not too good. traffic alert in livermore westbound 580 before you reach portola road and unfortunately unfortunately traffic is backing up in the area. they have two lanes blocked so it starts to slow from north first. we have roadwork on 880 through oakland so we'll talk more about that coming up. but in the meantime, back to you. >> thank you. we begin with some breaking news in san francisco. a street fight ends with a man and woman stabbed and rushed to the hospital. sharon chin is in the tenderloin on the scene with more. >> reporter: right now police are evaluating evidence, looking for more witnesses. they say a man and woman were

each stabbed twice. the man in the face and shoulder areas the woman in the stomach area. officers say the boyfriend and girlfriend were taken to the hospital. they say there was a big fight on larkin and o'farrell where the couple was attacked. no known motive for the fight. the couple made their way to a corner market on larkin and ellis street and the store clerk saw they were bleeding, gave them napkins to put over their injuries before paramedics arrived. police say they are looking for multiple suspects but they have no description of the suspects or any getaway car. officers say there were a number of witnesses to the fight but they ran off. so they are still looking for witness information so they can identify suspects, get a description on the suspect car, people who are still out there they are they are looking for, the stabbers in this case. >> sharon chin live in san francisco, thank you. they are allowed to stay for at least now. native americans trying to block construction at a park in

vallejo will not be arrested. >> they have been there since friday on what they say is sacred ground. they could have been ticketed or even detained for spending several nights at glen cove waterfront park. but late last night, they won a small victory. no arrests but they will have to take down their tents because there is a strict no camping policy. the native americans are determined to stay at the park until the district agrees to keep the land as is. >> this is where our ancestors are buried. they rest in peace and they want to disturb that peace and we can't allow that as indigenous people of this country. >> we will be here until the situation is resolved. >> the recreation district -- >> we will be here until the situation is resolved. >> the recreation district still plans to construct a paved parking lot and public bathroom. a young fremont man is dead after falling from a cliff in santa cruz. police say the 22-year-old man

got too close to the cliffside along westcliffe drive last night. he died after plunging 25 feet onto a rock ledge below. he was with two friends at the time. they weren't hurt. police believe drugs or alcohol may have been a factor. neighbors say it is a dangerous area. >> this is a marvel. it's wonderful. but it also has its risks. these signs are very clear about the, you know, the peril of this. >> the name of the victim hasn't been released. doctors plan to keep injured giants fan bryan stow under sedation for at least another week to let his brain heal. stow's medication was originally lowered last friday in the hopes he could be brought out of his medically- induced coma but he soon began experiencing seizures and the sedation was resumed. one positive sign though stow's family says he is showing signs of brain activity. new this morning, there is a good chance that caltrain will keep stations open and the

trains running. board members hinted they have a plan to keep the transit agency alive for another year, although passengers may have to pay more. the "mercury news" reports details of the plan haven't been released. but it could be approved as early as thursday. this morning there is talk of a possible strike vote at muni. while contract talks continue, two flyers are calling for a strike vote. the publicist for muni management is providing the media with a flyer he calls inflammatory that claims that the city has plenty of money and muni salary and pensions aren't the problem. the union says it did not put out that flyer but it did put out another paper that calls for a strike authorization vote. the publicist says that's impractical since the city charter prohibits muni drivers from striking. >> legally i'm not sure whether they have a throwing stand on here. i'm not a lawyer. but my understanding is they have a no strike clause in their contracts. >> a muni driver who is a union

member confirms that the second flyer is indeed an official union notice. and today bart will swear in three deputy police chiefs. they are replacing two police commanders who were in a union. the new jobs will not be unionized. the change is intended to streamline the management structure and give the bart police chief a stronger hand in running the department. consultants recommended the shift after the fatal shooting of oscar grant. so did you feel it? >> i wasn't around, no, but i heard a lot of people did. they are still talking about the coincidence of the small quake that struck the peninsula on the 105th anniversary of san francisco's 1906 quake. it was reported about 3:00 yesterday afternoon centered two miles southeast of pacifica. it was a 3.4. the u.s. geological survey has been monitoring aftershocks sin, the largest a 2.4. there are no reports of damage. and this morning several states bracing for yet another

possible tornado outbreak. this as the south cleans up from the worst series of twisters in decades. the storm system killed at least 45 people. today forecasters predict a triple threat of rain, hail and more twisters. this time, parts of the mississippi and ohio valleys could be hit hardest with even more nasty weather expected tomorrow. wow. >> you were enjoying a little sunshine down in southern california. >> i was. >> we got a little rain and drizzle yesterday but i understand that's going to change a little bit at a, huh, kristy? >> we do get a break today. we are going to enjoy some sunshine later on this afternoon. and it's a mild start to the morning. that cloud cover keeping temperatures pretty mild sitting in the 50s for the most part. we have some cloudy conditions inland, a little bit of fog at the bay shores and at the coast and you may see a little bit of drizzle there as well but not too chilly a start to the morning. you can see temperatures 55 san francisco, 56 oakland, 56 vallejo, 57 concord and livermore. so not too chilly of a start and this afternoon, shaping up

nicely. sunshine inland will warm us up into the high 60s even breaking into some 70s, as well. 70 for concord, 67 for livermore and for fremont. temperatures along the bay shores and at the coast are going to be similar to what we saw yesterday. 62 for the city, 67 down in redwood city. a look at the forecast over the next several days it's going to be a bumpy ride. we are enjoying some sunshine today but then tomorrow we see another system move in wednesday night. we may see showers wednesday night and thursday morning. friday we are going to see partly cloudy skies, saturday mostly cloudy. but then sunday and monday are looking nice. we are going to see partly cloudy skies and some sunshine so your easter sunday should be bright. that's a look at your weather. let's check traffic with elizabeth. >> thank you. let's go back out to livermore, westbound 80 approaching portola slow going there and we have a traffic alert in effect because they still have two lanes blocked so you are going to find slow traffic from north first. that's our only big hotspot out

there right now. coming up towards the san mateo bridge there is a little bit of roadwork near that intersection 880 and 92. some of it is wrapped up but the southbound 880 ramp to eastbound 92 still blocked until 5 a.m. but if you are continuing towards the san mateo bridge here's live look across the span. no problems either direction. nice and light in the commute direction. elsewhere at the bay bridge toll plaza, still cruising here as well, no issues heading into san francisco and all approaches are quiet. if you are taking mass transit we have a chocolate giveaway on bart so stay tuned for more details on that. back to you. >> thank you. president barack obama has a busy tuesday. he starts off by hosting an easter prayer breakfast at the white house. in the afternoon he will host a meeting on immigration reform. it's expected to include a broad group of business, law enforcement and political leaders. the meeting follows criticism by advocates who say the

we're between weather systems today. we'll have a nice day. mostly sunny conditions inland. and partly cloudy conditions along the bay shores and coast. temperatures in the mid-60s and maybe even squeezing out some 70s later on. >> sounds great, christy . thanks very much. getting into the university of california just got tougher for students from the golden state. there is almost a 20% spike of out of state students next year and it all comes down to cash. with state budget cuts threatening to limit enrollment, berkeley's turning to out of state students to help pay the bills. >> i think it's around $52,000 for out of state. >> we would admit for this california students if we had add -- we would admit more california students if we had adequate state funding. >> out of state students pay $23,000 more than in state students. job hunters might find luck under the golden arches. mcdonald's is it going on a

gas used to initially fill cars. last month toyota announced increases of 2%. have you ever had to ask for help when you ran out of gas? >> i have. well, it may be a sign of tough economic times but more people are driving their cars now on fumes. triple-a says recent roadside gas calls are up nearly 13%. tow truck drivers are seeing the same thing. they are rescuing more drivers who run out of gas, maybe because prices are going up. it could cost in the long run by damaging your car. >> over a period of time it will eventually damage your fuel pump. when you don't have gas, you don't have cooling or lubrication. >> he warns drivers not to rely on electronic gas gauges to tell you how many miles you have list because if they're wrong, you are stuck. >> yeah. i mean, i have to admit, i am waiting longer and the little red lights comes on and usually

building being moved to makeshift storage areas. after that they will allow access for workers trying to restore cooling systems knocked out in last month's tsunami. new this morning, bp's fund to help oil spill victims in the gulf has gone nearly untouched. bp provided $20 billion for the fund but get this, only $3.8 billion has been paid. administrators say some claimants haven't justified damages. this comes two days before the disaster's one-year anniversary. another air traffic controller is suspended, this time not for falling asleep on the job but for watching a movie while he was on the job. investigators say the air traffic controller in cleveland accidentally turned on his microphone for more than three minutes and the movie sound track was transmitted over the radio. he became aware of the problem when contacted by the pilot of a military plane. his manager has also been suspended. it's a cloudy start to the morning although temperatures

are mild in the 50s and we are going to enjoy some sunshine a little later on today. we are sitting between systems right now so we'll have sunshine and may see some 70- degree readings inland. this afternoon, mix of sun and clouds around the bay, lingering fog inland. at the coast we may see fog, as well. but even so, temperatures between the high 50s up through the 70s. satellite shows the area of high pressure that's temporarily going to build in bringing us dry conditions today and then that area of low pressure is going to move in tomorrow bringing us showers starting wednesday afternoon and continuing through thursday morning. today's highs in the 50s and 60s, even some 70s, as well. 67 in los altos and in mountain view, 70 in cupertino and campbell, 67 in fremont. over to the east bay we go, topping it out at 63 in alameda, also 63 for richmond, warmer in walnut creek at 70

them. here's a live look at the dumbarton. construction, more roadwork this morning on eastbound 84 approaching the high-rise. a little bit of roadwork as well near the on-ramp to westbound 92 92. nimitz freeway past the coliseum, so far, so good this morning, as you head towards downtown a little roadwork on the stretch from 29th out towards fifth avenue embarcadero. and they finally got all lanes open westbound 580 at portola crossing through livermore. to the south bay, 880/237, everything is nice and quiet this morning heading towards silicon valley. the rest of the south bay looks good as well top speeds coming up from the guadalupe parkway. 101 nice and quiet and 280 looks great out of downtown. and everything is on time for mass transit but bart is doing a chocolate giveaway today, six stations including some in berkeley and most downtown san francisco stops.

early results show women taking travad have the same effects as those taking a placebo. researchers are developing an all bug repellent made from grapefruit. it contains a chemical that is nontoxic and an effective way of repelling mosquitos. the natural substance could also be used to combat bedbugs, ticks and head lice. another parent claims her toddler was served more than juice. the latest claim from a chicago area chilis. a mother says her 4-year-old daughter brooklyn complained her drink tasted a little funny. she had ordered a chocolate milkshake but when her mother tasted the drink she knew it was an alcoholic mud slide cocktail. >> that's when i saw the
