that system will continue to drop to the south and bring showers to most of the bay area. gianna has traffic. >> right now so far, so good. live look at the golden gate bridge problem-free. we'll have more coming up but back to you. >> thank you. gunfire kills two people and wounds four others inside an oakland bar and restaurant. >> sharon chin joins us from oakland where the shots rang out early this morning. sharon, good morning. what's the latest? >> reporter: good morning. the investigation continues. police have closed off the 300 block of broadway street. police say that six people were shot inside this sweet jimmy's restaurant and bar at about 12:45 this morning when a man was denied entry. he apparently opened fire. two died on the scene. two men. two remain in critical condition. two others in stable condition

at a hospital. detectives say they don't believe the shooting was gang- related and they have no information on the suspects, no arrests, as well. police said this area is not high crime. the police department is just two blocks down. but there were two other shootings in this area over just around the corner from this shooting. an hour and a half later a person was shot in the 200 block of washington at kimball carnival nightclub and went to the hospital. at 11:00 last night another victim went to the hospital after getting shot on the 7200 block of favor street. so no suspects or arrests in the two shootings. very busy night for police. they are trying to figure out if any of the three shootings was related in any way. back to you. >> thank you. developing news in san francisco right now. arson investigators are on the scene of a fire that sent three people to the hospital overnight. that fire broke out in a

residential building in north bees around 12:30 on powell -- northrop grumman around powell street. the cause of the fire is unknown. san carlos firefighters may find out today who they will be working for in the few. right now san carlos and belmont share fire services but that agreement is about to end. city leaders will meet tonight to discuss three options either create their own fire department, have neighboring redwood city provide fire services or turn it over to the private company wackenhut. the firefighter union opposes the last option. the san jose police department faces two federal lawsuits that allege excessive force and racial profiling. the "mercury news" says the

plaintiffs are hispanic. one is a 2008 traffic stop. a man says officers damaged his eye and arested his sister when he tried to intervene. the plaintiff in that case pled guilty to drunk driving. the other case is from 2009. a man who pled guilty to disturbing the peace said he was run over by a patrol car. city attorneys deny the allegations. a federal mediator will meet today with vallejo city leaders to resolve the standoff with native americans. a tribe has been camped there at glen cove waterfront park for 10 days demanding vallejo change its redevelopment plans. they don't want bathrooms or parking spaces added to the site. the mediator try to help all sides reach a resolution. a palo alto teenager concerned about antigay bullying has succeeded in raising thousands of dollars to

help others. 13-year-old noah hornic saysest affected by the rutgers student who committed suicide so he organized a benefit concert in san francisco last night. he says the hardest part was getting three rock bands to take part. >> a lot of the bands, we're busy, touring, we have a recording session, something of that sort. but yeah, when i got the first band to sign up, it really just let me know, oh, okay so maybe i can actually pull this off. >> the 8th grader is hoping to become, what else, an entrepreneur. and it seems he is off to a promising start raising $20,000 in sponsorships to benefit a teen suicide help line. today bart begins an effort to find out what riders want in a bart seat. bart is using a so-called seat lab that allows people to test out various heights and widths and they can fill out a written survey to weigh in on key

questions including what the seats in new cars should be made of. several groups will tour the lab in oakland this week and then official plan to take it on the road to each of bart's nine districts. well, another of san francisco's cable car lines will partially shut down this week. a stretch of the powell hyde line past jackson is being closed as part of a major improvement project. muni buses will shuttle riders around the work. street parking may also be affected. the partial closing starts today and goes through friday. well, it's 4:36. holiday weekend is over for most of us and kristy is standing by with rain on the way. >> a little bit of sprinkles in the forecast this morning. already seeing showers in the north bay and through the golden gate. we'll see showers through most

of the bay area today. cloud cover is moving in bringing us showers probably into the early afternoon today. we'll dry out by this evening. today is a mild start to the day mostly in the 50s. 55 oakland and concord. 54 for fremont and 52 for livermore. your highs today will be similar to what we saw yesterday in the high 50s to the mid-60s. 61 san francisco, 64 for vallejo. also 64 in livermore and 65 for fremont. making it to 66 in san jose today. today we have some showers throughout the morning commute and into your early afternoon but you can see we actually dry out and start to warm up nicely into the rest of the workweek. mostly sunny skies tuesday and wednesday and thursday temperatures going down. friday looking nice. your next weekend if we can already look out to the next weekend it's mild. we are going to see temperatures in the low to mid- 70s in those inland spots. so the rest of the week shaping

one strike today destroyed a multistory library and office and badly damaged a reception hall used for visiting dignitaries. a security official there says four people were wounded but no one is saying where qaddafi is today. the strike came after forces little to qaddafi attacked the rebel city of misrata. at least 32 people were killed there over the weekend and dozens more wounded. more encouraging signs for wounded wounded congresswoman gabrielle giffords. she is cleared to attend the space shuttle launch in florida. the mission commander is her husband mark kelly. he says during his wife's ordeal since being shot in the head in january he has learned about her toughness and compassion. >> first of all, she will tell you how badly she wants to get out of the hospital. when you ask her what she wants to do, one thing she frequently comes back to is, you know, going back to work, going back to her office. and, you know, how important it is for her to serve her

morning. showers throughout the north bay and moving into san francisco. widespread showers later on and highs today in the high 50s to the low 60s. experts call it an environmental disaster. a new more toxic generation of rat poison is killing wild animals across california. now the feds plan to ban them. environmentalists call it secondary poisoning. animals like owls, coyotes and fox are sickened when they ed the poisoned rats. >> what happens is the rodents consume the poisons. they are then a poisoned food source n comes one of our beneficial predators like a barn owl. they consume a poisoned rodent they have the same effects of eating the poison, they hemorrhage to death. >> it's impossible to tell how many animals are dying from the secondary poisoning because many of them die in remote areas where they are never found. 4:43. here's news you know all too

well. gas prices continue to climb. the lundberg survey says the national average for unleaded is 3.84, 30 cents higher than a month ago. that's nothing compared with price in the bay area. according to gasbuddy.com, 4.21 san jose, 4.22 in oakland, 4.24 around san francisco. analysts say the high cost will likely affect americans' summer travel plans. but drivers in san francisco no longer pay the nation's highest gas prices. i don't know that i believe that. that unwanted honor now goes to chicago. the official average there is 4.27 for a gallon. experts say lower demand and slower growth of oil prices may keep gas from passing the all- time record average of 4.11. gas station owners are starting to have a sense of humor about the sky high gas

death of hundreds of fish. then found along a one-mile stretch of the watsonville slough. foam and soot are considered factors. today japan is mounting a new intensive search for the bodies of people still missing from last month's earthquake and tsunami. nearly 25,000 japanese troops are fanning out on the northeastern coast. backed by dozens of boats and aircraft, the soldiers are looking for remains swept out to sea or buried under rubble. some 12,000 people are missing and are part of the death toll that now stands at 26,000. some dramatic video of a tornado in texas. storm chasers capturing these pictures yesterday from a moving car near the town of bear located between abilene and dallas. and you can see, this tornado has multiple vortexes meaning

it's touching done in several spots at the same time. there were several tornadoes in the same area yesterday. they caused little damage, though, in open country. officials in st. louis now say that the powerful tornado that struck on friday damaged 2700 buildings and destroyed 100 homes. but no one was seriously hurt thanks to early warnings. the main airport in st. louis took a direct hit. but it happened on a friday evening so relatively few people were in the concourse that took the brunt of the damage. the airport's director is surprised at how fast they have been able to resume operations. >> i think it's amazing. so when i take a look at where we stood here on slide of night and looked at the damage around us -- on friday night and looked at the damage around us and were wondering if next week we could get operational. >> today they expect to function at 85% of normal. friday's tornado packing winds up to 200 miles per hour and it was the most powerful twister

to hit st. louis since 1967. powerful weather there not quite so busy here in the bay area. we are seeing some showers milder than in st. louis. wet weather this morning out the door, grab the umbrella. you can see the showers in the north bay, pushing through the golden gate and starting to stretch to the south of us, as well. we'll see more showers later on the. out the door this morning, in the 50s for the most part. cloud cover and showers for most of the bay area. this afternoon, chance of showers continuing to see. that but we'll see it clear out by the evening commute. in the meantime the highs in the 50s and 60s similar to yesterday, breeze at the shore and at the coast. and many nice days in store a little later on this week. today we'll have to contend with showers. we have a system that's moved into the pacific northwest overnight bringing us some light rain today. but you can see we actually start to clear out the system pushing through and we'll innocent clear for the next

several days so plenty of sunshine in store later on. today though carry that umbrella as that area of low pressure drops in. this area of high pressure that's building behind us -- behind us is going to bring warmer drier air. today 62 for san rafael, 63 oakland, 64 livermore, and 66 in san jose. here's a look at your extended forecast. we have showers in the forecast throughout the day today drying out by this evening and then tuesday and wednesday looking great with mostly sunny skies. thursday we are going to drop down a few degrees in temperature but friday nice, as well. but your next weekend we are seeing beautiful weather, sunny skies with highs as high as the mid-70s in some of the inland spots. so something to look forward to for later on in the workweek. gianna has traffic. >> never too early to plan for the weekend. let's take a look at 101 in santa clara near great america parkway -- or we'll get to that

in a second. south bay nice speeds this morning for highway 87, guadalupe parkway looking good on 101 and 280, as well. so no delays out there. we had some earlier construction in the south bay 101 at capitol expressway to story road is wrapped up. lots of green on our sensors. we had roadwork on 101 near tully road. they still may be on scene there. if you are going southbound 280 at serramonte until 5:00. northbound coming through san bruno, they have a closure there, as well. that will be in effect until 7:00. so plan for that. you might see some delays throughout the morning commute. golden gate bridge looking good so far, so good. when the rain hits, things will change. you might see some slick surfaces. holding steady now. bay bridge problem-free not bad. the metering lights are off, clear across the upper deck into san francisco. out of san francisco into oakland, no delays. in fact, here's a live look at

same rate but very obese girls were more likely to have sex while drunk or high and they were also more likely to smoke or chew tobacco. doctors say the study shows the need to better understand the mental health needs of obese teens. go ahead, drink up. having several cups of coffee doesn't seem to increase the risk of high blood pressure. a new report focused on previous studies that examined the blood pressure of more than 170,000 people. the chance of developing high blood pressure is no greater if you drink up to 5 cups of could have no a day compared to just 1. this is the best news i have heard in months. >> i know that you are just over the mood about this.
