oakland police still on the scene of an overnight shooting in the fruitvale area. police shot two suspects at 10:30 last night the award and kern. those suspects are in custody as is a third suspect found in a yard nearby. there were no injuries to the officers. police haven't explained the circumstances of the shooting. anne makovec will have a live report at 5:00. new bombshell details coming out again today about arnold schwarzenegger's affair. >> it turns out that his secret son and his youngest son with maria shriver were born a week apart. elizabeth cook shows us how neighbors are describing the little boy. reporter: this picture from 1994 shows arnold schwarzenegger dancing with mildred baena, his housekeeper, who three years later would become the mother of his son. today baena and her teenaged

son live in this bakersfield neighborhood. their home has turned into a media circus. marty steel man lives next door. >> really nice kid. it's a kid you want to have, you know? my husband taught high school for over 35 years. and there's not too many kids like this. >> reporter: the boy was reportedly born in october of 1997 a week after maria shriver gave birth to the couple's youngest son christopher. schwarzenegger was supporting his secret child and has been ever since. he supposedly told maria about the boy earlier this year. >> if people insist on calling him a bastard or a love child, then i think that will kind of cement his relationship to the world. >> reporter: dr. laura davies is a san francisco psychiatrist. she says it's essential the boy has a strong support network. >> if he has a network of family around him that says we are awesome, we like you, we think you're funny, cute, athletic, you're a great soccer

improving. doctors have taken stow off one antiseizure medication but stow's family tells us every day is still a struggle. >> it hurts to see him lying there and not responsive to a lot of things. but we still -- there's still a lot of care for him. we love him and we talk to him. but it can be heart breaking to just see him there. >> doctors at san francisco general hospital said that stow remains in critical condition. he is still on four antiseizure medications though they say his brain has not shown any seizure activities during 30 hours of continuous monitoring. it is 4:35 now. police are warning people in belmont to look out for a man trying to pass himself off as a city sewer worker. a woman gave him access to her backyard on chula vista yard tuesday afternoon. when the woman asked for

identification, the man said he would get away from his vehicle but instead police said he sped off. police said he may have been casing homes for burglaries. he is described as white in his early 30s, 5'5", 170 pounds, yellow hard hat, dark blue long- sleeved shirt, dark pants. he was also in a dark red van. another huge lifting job is ready to go today on the bay bridge. this morning, workers will put the cable saddle on top of the suspension tower. it is the largest such saddle in the world. and next a suspension cable will be strung across the saddle. that will take a year. then a cap will be put on top of the saddle and cable and the tower believe it or not will be done. >> what are they saying, 2013 when this is -- so a couple years away. can't believe t believe it. >> i drove across that the other day and they say don't look as you drive across. >> did you look?

>> you can't help it! it's going to be neat when they get it done. hey, folks, we have a nice day coming up. we are right between a couple of systems, one to the east that brought rain is out of the picture now. we are in the sweet spot right now. we'll have sunshine around most of the bay area. we have a couple of patches of fog this morning, some fog showing up in the santa rosa valley. low clouds at the coast. 50 degrees in pacifica. 48 san jose. and 47 degrees in fremont. by the afternoon, look at this. starting to see a lot of orange showing up on the system as we are going to see temperatures running up into the 70s in many spots. 75 in san jose and livermore, 76 concord and santa rosa. and 66 degrees in san francisco. tomorrow more sunshine on the way. another day of very nice temperatures. but over the weekend, we have changes in the works. that trough of low pressure is going to move onshore.

no rain today, patchy fog this morning. this afternoon mostly sunny 60s and 70s. the rest of the forecast is coming right up. >> thank you. 4474. san francisco could become the first city in the country to make it illegal to circumsize anyone under 18. the issue will be on the city's ballot in november. more than 12,000 voters signed a petition to require the vote. the man behind the proposed ban says circumcision is a form of mutilation. but the procedure is a cultural and religious tradition for

muslim and jewish families. >> it's the man's body and it's his personal decision. >> we'll have to do them in oakland i guess. >> some doctors say there are medical reasons to perform the circumcisions but the american academy of pediatrics doesn't recommend them routinely. university of california students could face another whopping tuition increase in addition to the 8% hike they already face this fall. uc officials say another, wow, 32% midyear hike is possible if governor brown's plan for tax extensions is not approved. basic tuition for uc undergrads who are california residents is scheduled to increase to just over $11,000 this fall. now, that additional 32% hike would bring tuition to almost $15,000. a big public debut this morning for linkedin. this is the day the mountain view-based startup has its ipo, initial public offering. it is considered one of the

in southern california. this morning, the national transportation safety board is investigating a frightening military jet crash that happened in southern california. a boeing 707 tanker skidded off a runway and burst into flames during take-off yesterday. it came within a few hundred feet of the pacific ocean but no fuel leaked into the water. all three people on board had only minor injuries. congresswoman gabrielle giffords is recuperating from surgery this morning. we are expecting an update from the doctors sometime later today. yesterday they placed a plastic implanted under her scalp where her skull was removed. that was after she was shot in the head in january. the surgery took place while her husband commanded the shuttle endeavor. nasa is taking a closer look at the heat tile damage on endeavour. the crew spotted gouges and nicks in photos taken yesterday. so far nasa says there is no cause for concern, though. they have been checking the

heat shield damage ever since the 2003 columbia explosion the mississippi river has reached a record level at vicksburg, mississippi. but forecasters now say that the crest is not quite as high as they expected earlier. northed of vicksburg a levee protecting thousands of acres of farmland is expected to prevent widespread flooding. down river in louisiana, mandatory evacuations are in effect in areas being flooded as more gates of the morganza spillway are old. >> we're look at a much better day around the bay area. we are going to see more sunshine. the temperatures are going to warm up. we are starting out with a couple of patches of fog this morning. out the door, watch out for that. 50s and 40s at this hour. by the afternoon, sunshine and temperatures into the 70s in many spots inland by the afternoon. inside the bay warmer, 60s with mild conditions. and at the coast, a mix of sun and clouds. and some breezy conditions. finally getting this low kicking to the east and that means we are going to dry out nicely across the state at

least for a couple of days. there is a system that's a little further off that will affect our weekend. but let's enjoy these next couple of days as the ridge builds in nicely to bring mild temperatures outside and it looks like it's going to hold that system at bay until saturday. temperatures today, 77 morgan hill, 75 in san jose, 71 redwood city, 69 degrees in union city. how about the east bay? those temperatures warming up nicely well into the 70s inland. 75 degrees in livermore. 76 dublin, north bay expecting plenty of 70s well inland. how about the napa valley? looking great there. 77 in napa. 76 in fairfield. and 73 degrees in san anselmo. next couple of days we are going to see some beautiful weather as we'll see lots of sunshine through friday. over the weekend, clouds start to move back in. sunday a few more clouds begin to dig into the bay area at least a chance of some light

sprinkles or drizzle here in the bay area. after that monday more sunshine on the way warmer temperatures as we head toward the middle of next week. let's check the traffic with elizabeth. >> thank you, lawrence. we have learned they just picked up eastbound highway 4 roadwork through pittsburg. it was scheduled to be picked up by 5:30 so they picked it up ahead of schedule. west and eastbound traffic fine from antioch into concord. benicia bridge coming into martinez here's live look at traffic. north- and southbound 680 looks great across the span. no problems in the east bay mostly green on the traffic sensors same thing in the south bay another live look at the 280 traffic. a few more headlights now approaching the 880 interchange. going to zoom into hp pavilion. princeton town is performing at 7:30 and again on saturday night as well on the 21st. so pretty cool. got a big visitor to the bay area, prince is in town.
