that 80-degree mark mostly sunny skies. i'll tell you how warm we'll get later in the week in a bit but over to gianna with a look at traffic. >> good morning. an accident southbound 880 right at dixon landing. a vehicle off the side of the road into a ditch. noninjury chp on scene so it will take a few minutes to retrieve the vehicle. 880/237 which isn't too far from there off to a good start. gunfire killed two people in richmond and critically injured a third. anser hassann reports. >> reporter: richmond police are still investigating last night's shooting. two men are dead and one woman in the hospital with life-

threatening injuries in the 400 block of the avenue. as of now police don't have a suspect in custody or any details as to what happened that led to last night's shooting. sunday night's double shooting is the third straight weekend of violence. six people were shot and three more killed in the iron triangle neighborhood in north richmond. last night's double homicide brings it to 8 people killed in the past three weeks. we have calls out to richmond police hoping for more information. we'll bring you that live laterr on. community groups are demanding action following an officer-involved shooting on the weekend. they want a civilian review board and fbi to investigate and they want the district attorney off the case because is

he a former police chief. it happened saturday afternoon in the bayview district. two officers conducted a fare inspection and detained a man. >> the suspect fled on foot. during the pursuit we believe a suspect fired backwards at the officers. they returned fire in self- defense. >> the man didn't have a gun. >> officers recovered a gun after reviewing video and talk to a witness. the man killed was 19-year-old kenneth harding from seattle. police call him a person of interest in a quadruple shooting in washington that happened on wednesday that left one woman dead. a murder west of downtown in oakland, a 28-year-old man was shot on saturday night while driving his suv at 19th and west. that was oakland's of 65th

homicide. also they found a man's body who may have been injured in an unreported robbery and assault a few days earlier. 22 san jose firefighters last year will begin retraining today. they were hired back friday with a two-year federal grant. they will be back on the job in september. they were among 49 san jose firefighters laid off last year. the other 27 have since found jobs elsewhere. the department is now in the process of hiring replacements. pickets are planned against u.s. airways at san francisco international airport. protestors are trying to get the airline to meet with the naacp about the deshon marman case. last month he was removed from a flight and arrested after failing to pull up his sagging pants. the naacp claims it was a case of racial profiling because marman was black. lay love notices going out

the classic rock band "cheap at ottawa five people are injured after a concert stage collapsed

in the canadian capital of ottawa. cheap trick was playing at the blues fest when part of the stage toppled over during a windstorm. one of the victims has life- threatening injuries. members of the bands were tossed off their seats but not seriously hurt. this trip, the final destination was jail. 61-year-old [ indiscernible ] from colorado was arrested at the airport in phoenix. police say she refused security screening thursday afternoon and then grabbed a female tsa agent's breast with both hands. >> why did you do that to the tsa? >> i don't know. nothing really surprises me i guess. >> surprised it hasn't happened sooner. >> the woman faces one count of felony sexual abuse. facebook groups are already popping up in her support. astronauts on nasa's last shuttle flight are done packing

their gigantic suitcase. they are putting things into a cargo canister. it was a size of a bus. it will be moved into shuttle atlantis today. the canister brought tons of food, supplies as well as other household items to the international space station. it's returning filled with other trash and other discarded equipment. atlantis returns to earth on thursday. and check out this view of the space shuttle soaring just after launch. a man on a commercial flight from miami recorded this video 10 days ago right after the pilot alerted passengers to this rare sight. you can see the shuttle climbing and leaving a huge contrail behind it. pretty cool stuff. blue skies. we enjoyed a nice weekend all around the bay area and temperatures this week are looking good, as well. clear inland, patchy fog at the coast and bay shores. partly cloudy at the coast. this afternoon warming up especially in the southern

in fairfield. more 80s the next couple of days as we gradually warm up by wednesday breaking into the 90s. so plenty of sunshine in store for the rest of the week and we'll go over to gianna with traffic. >> not too bad. some better news. that accident we have been following southbound 880 at dixon landing has been cleared off the freeway. chp just left the scene. you can see on our sensors here lots of green, sluggish on the northbound side and everything pushessive pushed out of the roads. no troubles there. 880/237 clear here, as well. all of the south bay is accident-free. we have roadwork northbound 85 between 101 and almaden expressway. this roadwork is in effect until 6:00 this morning. there are various lanes blocked through that area so might see slight delays out the door

through there. bay area bridges problem-free. live look at the san mateo bridge, so far, so good 13 to 14 minutes between 880 and 101. 880 good in both directions. northbound towards the bay bridge, problem-free no delays at the toll plaza. upper deck good into san francisco. roadwork near the incline. they hope to wrap it up by 5:00. slight spectator slowing approaching the scene. golden gate bridge also accident-free. looks like we are moving at nice speeds. not one car on the road there as you work your way into san francisco so very light through there. if you are headed out of marin county no accidents. central freeway looking good both directions into san francisco. 101 along the peninsula also no problems towards sfo. mass transit good choice. bart, ace, muni metro and caltrain all checking in problem-free. and if you are traveling out of the east bay, so far everything is clear. westbound 580. altamont pass to 68017 minutes. when you jump into your car, remember kcbs, our radio partners, at 740-am and 106.9- fm.

that's traffic. back to you guys. >> thank you. we were taking bets on how this was going to turn out but apparently los angeles has survived what they call carmageddon over the weekend. workers took the signs down and they reaped the 405 nearly a full day ahead of schedule. the freeway was closed for a 10- mile stretch friday night to demolish an overcrossing. it re-opened just after noon yesterday. the contractor will get a $300,000 bonus for getting done so quickly. it turns out that kids may be safest in the car when a grandparent is behind the wheel. that's the word from a new study which found children are half as likely to suffer an injury in a car when riding with grandma or grandpa instead of their own parents. the reason? researchers believe grandparents may drive more carefully when a grandchild is in their car. many of us ride our bikes to get a work crowd but a young man who came from the midwest has much grander plans. he is taking off on a cross-

country journey from san francisco this morning. mark sayre shows us what's going to be a long road ahead. reporter: chris harley rough is a volunteer firefighter from wisconsin and it was 9/11 that attracted him to the fire service. >> i was in the 8th grade when the towers went down and it struck a chord with me seeing that. and i just was trying to think of the best way to tip my hat to them. >> reporter: now rough is setting off on the challenge of a lifetime to honor fallen firefighters from new york and throughout the nation, rough is going to try to make it from san francisco all the way to ground zero on his bike in time for the tenth anniversary of 9/11. >> i guess i'm just biking across the country. i'm going from fire station to fire station along the way hoping to raise awareness about fallen firefighters. >> reporter: in his binder, contacts at all of those fire stations and cities big and
