a little bit. deanna, any action on the roadway yet? >> not too much. some fog this morning, and also some road work. i will let you know more about that in a couple of minutes. >> thanks, ladies. all right. gunfire at a family birthday party in pittsburg. >> four people are shot, including a 9-year-old girl. now, police say two hooded men walked up to a home on ravine drive and fired into an open garage. more than 30 people inside were at a child's birthday party. at the house. in the backyard. three teenaged boys were also shot. two of them critically. >> there was a party going. you got kids. and we heard firecrackers and i come out and check and heard all the screaming. and at first, the kids were crying and all that stuff, it had to be firecrackers because the kids were crying but the then cames out saying somebody got shot. >> reporter: medical helicopters landed at delta's regional trail, a few blocks away and took one of most seriously

wounded to john muir hospital. three others traveled by ambulances. all are expected to survive. at least seven occupy san francisco protesters are under arrest. for blocking streets in the downtown area. police moved in overnight when the protesters refused to move. and removed camping equipment from justin herman plaza. >> we have no problem with them protesting. it is the right of freedom of speech. and that is not the issue, nor has it ever been the issue. the issue is they can't set up the campsites and can't violate the laws we already have on the books. >> police dismantled a protest camp at justin herman plaza an loaded the tents in trucks. some of the protesters blocked the trucks as they tried to leave the area. well the "occupy wall street" movement is entering the second month today, with no signs of letting up. over the weekend, demonstrations across corporate greed spread across the country and overseas to europe. the arrests in the number of cities, in chicago, about 175 protesters were taken in for

refusing take down their tents and leave a city park. san jose investigators are looking into another officer-involved shooting that left a suspect dead. it happened just before noon yesterday. worcester avenue. just northeast of downtown. police say a caller reported a suspicious acting man with a weapon at the parkside terrace apartments. four officers arrived and found the man in the parking lot. >> something transpired where one, at least one officer was forced or felt the necessity i should say to discharge his firearm. at the individual. and usually we do that for our protection. or to protect our fellow officers or somebody in the public, a civilian. >> the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, and police are not releasing further details but witnesses say the suspect was in a car, when he was shot, and one woman says he rammed several cars while trying to get away. it is the city's sixth officer-involved shooting in 2011. compared with just four all of last year. oakland police are investigating three murders

within just hours of one another over the weekend. two men were shot to death before midnight friday at an apartment at mccar thur boulevard and another shot during a carjacking on olive street. he died early saturday at the hospital. this brings the total number of murders in oakland this year to 94. there were 95 all of last year. a pretrial hearing scheduled for today in the murder of 3-year-old carlos nava in east oakland. 26-year-old lawrence denard and 22-year-old willie torrence pleaded not guilty last month. police think the drive-by shooting in august was gang-related. they think the shots that killed nava were meant for the two men who were wounded. apple plans a celebration of steve jobs' life on wednesday. at the company headquarters in cupertino. the celebration will be for apple employees. they say no public services are planned for the co-founder. he was buried during a private

service. another private service held yesterday at stanford. >> i think he did wonderful things for people. not just the products. but to help people get connected and helped people interact more and develop relationships. >> both apple and stanford have details of that memorial secret, so the guest list included silicon valley leaders. this morning the sports world is mourning the death of a prominent indy car driver, 33-year-old dan wheldon was killed yesterday in a 15-car wileup at the las vegas motor speedway. brent black has more on how the racing community is reacting this morning. >> reporter: this is the crash that killed two time indy 500 winner dan wheldon. and the race had barely started when this fiery chain reaction launched wheldon's car into the air. >> three safety crews around him. he was not moving in the car. we were able to look right at him here and it didn't look good. >> he was air lifted to the

hospital. but was pronounced dead a couple of hours later. >> i got to think of him, the way he lived. it is certainly very difficult for everyone in the community. >> drivers did a five lap salute in wheldon's honor after the accident. the winner of the indy series, dareo franchitti joined the tribute. >> i lost, we lost a good friend. everybody in the indy car series considered dan a friend. >> wheldon won the indy series in 2005. the same year he first won the indianapolis 500. he won the 500 again in may. this time, he was going for a $5 million prize in the last race of the indy car series. >> he wasn't just a great driver but a great human being. and i just can't believe that he no longer with us. >> wheldon's number 77 was put at the top of the winner's pole at the infield and the rest of

a possible move back to los angeles. or sharing the future santa clara stadium with the 49ers. oakland beat the cleveland browns yesterday 24-17. well, today marks 22 years since the loma prieta struck california, and it devastated oakland to san francisco and santa cruz and watsonville and blamed for 67 deaths and an open house and remembrance are planned this afternoon at the san francisco fire department museum with a moment of silence at 5:04, the minute that quake hit. pg&e is warning people along sand hill road in menlo park they may smell some natural gas this morning. the utility will be running pressure tests on some of the pipelines so don't worry. an office of emergency services says the smell should go away quickly and that services will not be interrupted. we're talking about another warm start to the week. it was actually pretty mild today. this morning. >> yes. you could have come to work in

shooting last night at a birthday party back now at 4:43. four young people are injured, two critically after a shooting last night at a birthday party in pittsburg. >> unser hudson is at the scene with who police are still looking for. >> reporter: good morning. that's right. all is quiet now. but it was not the case last night. 30 people came out to celebrate the birthday of a 1-year-old last night here on ravine drive in pittsburgh. when two gunmen opened fire. shooting two teenagers and a 9-year-old girl. the shooting happened just after 8:00 p.m. and two hooded men walked up to the house, and fired into the open garage. pittsburgh police say two teenaged boys were shot and one transported to a hospital by helicopter and both were in critical condition and the 9-year-old girl was shot in the

shoulder. all four victims are expected to survive. police say they have not had any problems at this house before, and right now, police say they have very little to work with, except that the two suspects are adult males, they may have used a dark colored sedan as a get-away car, we will have more coming up at 5:00. frank, elizabeth? >> thanks, unser. president barack obama hits the road this morning, the president is going on a three-day bus tour through north carolina and virginia, two states that could be critical to his re-election campaign. the white house says the trip is to push for the president's jobs plan. >> that's what is at stake. putting people back to work. i'm going to travel all over the country, over the next few weeks, so that we can remind congress that is the most important thing. >> having voted in the affirmative -- >> last week senate republicans blocked the president's $447 billion bill. now the president plans to have separate votes on individual segments of his plan. 4:44 now. voting is set to begin in oakland on three ballot measures, including a proposed

five-year parcel tax. measure i calls for an $80 annual tax per parcel, it is designed to raise money for several services, including the public safety, and parks and libraries and roads and programs for use in seniors -- youth and seniors but the efforts does not spes fy how the money will be divide and the city council will consider two spending plans tomorrow. this is a mail only election with a ballot dead loin set for november 15. prices at the pump keep sliding. good news. there in the past month, the average price of a gallon of gas has fallen a whole quarter. right now, the national average is $3.42. but here in san francisco, land of high prices, it is an average of $3.81. but on gas buddy .com, we found some as high as 4.31. so shop around. albuquerque new mexico has the lowest average price by the way. that would be a commute. $3.07 there. analysts say we can credit low demand caused by a lot of unemployment.

crime scene. the san jose mercury news is identifying the victim of steve tossen as the hell's angel chapter and police have not made an arrest but interviewing witnesses. a convicted gang member is facing charges accused of killing two people in oakland last month and setting fire to their apartment to cover the crime. 47-year-old henry cevantes was arrested while visiting the parole officer and held without bail right now. one of the victims, 73-year-old johnny navarette was paroled just last year, after serving time for a murder in the 1980s. the martin luther king jr. memorial on the capital mall is officially dedicated. the thousands gathered in washington, d.c. yesterday. president obama and members of the king family unveiled the memorial to the late civil rights leader. >> without dr. king's glorious words, we might not have had the courage to come as far as we have. >> here i am overjoyed and

>> another beautiful one. even warmer today than what we saw yesterday. we are contending with a little bit of cloud cover and fog out at the coastline and some patchy fog up in santa rosa as well. but most of the rest of you are waking up to pretty clear conditions, this morning, and this afternoon, and it is looking pretty good. we will see lots of sunshine in those inland locations and the temperatures warming up to the high 80s and even some low 90s in the are inland valleys and around the bay, lots of sunshine as well and the coastline not too shabby and clouds lingering loon the coastline in the afternoon hours. and the low cooler on the weekend has since past and the area of high pressure holding temporarily. warmer weather today and changes as we make our way into tomorrow and the next day. this low will make its way into the bay area and we will is cy -- we will see more cloud cover and temperatures closer than they would be this time of the year. highs around the bay. look like this, 82 for palo alto. a degree warmer in mountain view. hayward as well and 90-degree

territory in morgan hill and the far inland valley, getting to the 90s today and seeing high 80-degree readings in san ramon and danville and walnut creek and napa in the mid 80s and the north bay, plenty of 80s as well and 84 for san rafael. and sonoma 8 a 85 and cooler in daily city. and san francisco breaking into the 80-degree territory this afternoon. five-day forecast, shows monday will be the warmest day of the workweek. look at the difference in temperature between monday and tuesday. dropping down pretty significantly and that weather will be pretty pleasant for you. with the temperatures wednesday as well, pretty similar to tuesday, and thursday, slight warmup. an then as we make our way into the weekend, it should be pretty nice as well. i know it is only monday but woe all like to look to next weekend already and it is looking pretty good at this point. let's go to giana with a look at ravage. >> looks very good, christie. the roadways not too bad this morning. in fact we will check the drive on the freeways, green sensors.

westbound 80, from the carquinez bridge to the maze, 17 to 19 minutes. and bay bridge toll plaza, not bad at all. metering lights are off. a couple of cars in some of the cash lines but overall very light. there is year night road work along -- overnight road work on the bay bridge on the upper deck should be wrapped up at 6:00. and not a bad drive. and lower deck, no problems san francisco to oakland. and elsewhere golden gate bridge, we've been dealing with fog this morning. you can see limited visibility for most of the part and they're doing lane changes. traffic very light. no delays coming out of marin county, south 101 looks pretty good working your way to the golden gate tollgates. san mateo bridge off to a good start as well. both directions clear. about 14 minutes between 880 and 101. once you get to 101, keep in mind there is road work to contend with. 880 not looking too badly. a live look at conditions along 880 and northbound clear past the coliseum and toward the maze and southbound no delays as you work your way towards the south bay. and road work along the peninsula, northbound 101 101 at
