i'm betty nguyen. when asked if allegations of sexual harassment would derail his presidential campaign, herman cain was defiant and to the point. during a news conference yesterday, he said he didn't each know his latest accuser. now a second accuser has identified herself. controversy is sure to his as his accuser consider a joint press conference and his gop rivals start to weigh in. herman cain is refusing to drop out of the republican presidential including groping a chicago woman more than a decade ago. >> i was very, very surprised

and very shocked. >> reporter: sharon bialek went public with her claims monday, but cain has insists he never met the 50-year-old and calling bialek a product of the democratic machine. >> the charges and the accusations, i absolutely reject. they simply didn't happen. >> reporter: his denial came as another accuser revealed herself to cbs news. 55-year-old karen krause hassar. the situation is so volatile right now, she says, i don't want to say anything more. other gop hopefuls are beginning to speak out. newt gingrich urged cain to fully answer the charges. cain's biggest rival mitt

romney. >> you recognize this is a very serious matter and it should be taken seriously. >> reporter: cain's troubles will likely come up again tonight when the candidates debate for the first time since the scandal broke. when asked cain said he would submit to a lie detector test but qualified it with if there is a good reason. >> any reason why karen kraushaar is coming forward now? >> she is telling reporters she preferred to remain anonymous but her name and her identity was thursday into the public forum when news was released about her settlement which was for $45,000. she is now among the group, she wants the allegations to be reviewed as a collective body of evidence. >> susan mcginnis in washington for us this morning, thank you. now to election day 2011. we begin in ohio in a major victory for union workers. voters handily repealed a law that restricted.

lions. drew levinson, cbs news, state college, pennsylvania. in other news, the man accused of masterminding the attack on the "uss cole 11 years ago will be arraigned today at guantanamo bay prison. rahim has been confined at jeted cia prisons and gitmo for nearly a decade. he is accused of training the al qaeda suicide bombers who ran the "cole" with a boat carrying explosives in 2000. 17 sailors were killed and 37 others wounded. a new greek government will be announced today in the wake of the european debt crisis. prime minister george papandreou agreed to step down. italian prime minister silvio berlusconi will also resign. he says he will leave office.

the wintry blast is moving over the bariay sea and has reached nome carrying hurricane force winds and huge waves. as much as 14 inches of snow is expected in some areas. and the last time alaska was blasted by a storm this size, it was back in november of 1974. we do have some sad news from the world of entertainment. hip-hop pioneer heavy d has died. ♪ >> born dwight myers in jamaica and raised in new york, the self-proclaimed overweight lover burst on the rap scene in 1987 with his debut album "living large." the l.a. coroner's office said the rapper collapsed at his home tuesday, just hours before he sent his last tweet, which read, quote, be inspired. heavy d was 44 years old. on the cbs "moneywatch," another huge recall for toyota. ashley morrison is in new york with more on that.

good morning. >> good morning to you, betty. most asian markets were up today. investigators are encouraged by efforts in greece and italy to clear their debt. tokyo's nikkei up more than 1% and hong kong's hang henning up more than 2%. on tuesday, the stocks finished higher. the dow was up 101 points while the nasdaq gained 32. more than a year after the gulf oil spill, the coast guard has approved a plan to end the cleanup. that means bp will start working on the next phase, restoration of damaged areas. the coast guard says 10% of the affected shoreline still needs to be cleaned. meanwhile, the white house announced tuesday it will allow a small expansion of offshore oil and gas exploration in the gulf and off the coast of alaska starting next year. after hitting the streets, occupy wall street protesters are hitting the highway. today, a group of activists will begin a march from new york to washington. they plan to arrive in the capital in two weeks.

time now for a check on the national forecast. the latest satellite picture shows a storm system stretching from the great lakes down to the gulf coast. a large mass of clouds is coming into the northwest, but only a few showers are coming down in western washington. later today, heavy rains and thunderstorms will move into the southeast and ohio river valley. breezy conditions and cold temperatures are in the midwest. elsewhere, it's another amazing day on the east coast with highs in the 60s and 70s. in sports, new hope that the nba lockout could soon be over. for the first time tuesday, the players union said they are willing to accept a 50/50 split in revenue, but in return, they want the league to relax proposed restrictions on free agency. >> the current offer that is on the table from the nba is not one that we can accept. our orders are also clear that we are willing to continue to negotiate and we are willing to

nasa got it right. the massive asteroid we told you about yesterday whizzed by earth last night. it came within 200 miles of our planet, closer than the moon and any asteroid in 35 years, moving at 8 miles a second. the russian mission to mars, a problem this morning. the rocket launched this morning, but its engined fail the fire to put it on a path to mars. at one point, the russian command center could not locate the spacecraft. engineers have only three days to try to reset the onboard computer system before its batteries die. remember back in the day when you flipped your tv or radio and heard the words, this is a test? well, you could change the channel and find another program. those days, though, are over starting today. randall pinkston explains. >> reporter: talk shows. soap operas and every other tv and radio program across the nation will all be interrupted at exactly 2:00 p.m. eastern

time wednesday. for 30 seconds, fema and the fcc will conduct the first nationwide test of the emergency alert system, also known as eas. eas is designed to quickly alert americans about a national emergency like a nuclear attack, a major power grid failure, or a catastrophic storm. >> this is to look at that one backbone system to go can we move a warning message from the white house all the way out through the relay stations to the general public. >> reporter: local stations like wfax-am in falls church, virginia, have always been required to run tests individually. now broadcasters must coordinate with other nearby stations for emergency notifications. the eas is a modern day version of the old emergency broadcast system designed to protect americans from missile strikes during the cold war. the system has never been used on a national scale. the government says this test is important to ensure it will work in the event of an emergency.

act now, act now! like he said... ♪ this past summer, hundreds of dolphins washed up on the shores of the gulf of mexico. now no one is really sure why. of all of those who beached themselves, just one survived and he has been on an incredible journey ever since. myra rodriguez from wwl in new orleans has the story. >> reporter: meet roux brees. >> i think drew brees got hurt on that play. >> reporter: named after someone else who knows all about overcoming the odds. >> it's pretty cool that they would want to name it after me. >> reporter: the story of roux brees actually begins here on grand isle when the young dolphin washed up on shore in january. nearly 350 stranded marine

mammals, mostly dolphins, have died in the gulf of mexico this year. the national oceananic and atmosphere association calls it an unusual mortality event. roux brees could have become another statistic, but he lived, becoming the only stranded dolphin to have survived this year. >> he came in with all of these markings on him, so he had a pretty rough life out there. >> reporter: eventually, roux brees got a new lease on life. >> he went from being just down and out to being perkier, coming around. >> reporter: but he now needed a new home. his young age meant he could not be released back into the wild. the orphan dolphin eventually found a home. after seven-hour journey, roux brees finally made it here to gulf world marine park, a place where he is being taken care of and where he has become the caretaker. >> we found out that roux is actually an excellent baby-sitter for our little one-month-old calf. >> reporter: baby-sitter? >> yes.

yes, he acts as a baby-sitter. >> reporter: trainers and vets at the world marine gulf park say roux brees is learning all about being a dolphin, namely by watching and interacting with some of the 17 dolphins at this facility. >> he is just like a little sponge. he is just absorbing everything. >> i just need to listen to the heart first. >> i think he knows that he has found a home, that he has been accepted here in this pod and he does really well in that fact. the baby likes you a lot! >> reporter: that is something drew brees says he is happy to hear. he and his wife are supporters of the institute and the stranding program, a cause that played a direct role in roux's survival. >> for it to be thriving the way it is, after, obviously, fighting through a life and death situation, that's great to see. >> reporter: back in florida. >> you're a tough little guy. just like the people in new orleans, right? they are tough people. >> reporter: roux brees is settling in. a sad start on the way to a much happier ending for this dolphin's tale.
