it will break up throughout the day. expecting winds to kick up tomorrow morning the big story weather-wise. we'll have more on that coming up. right now, let's talk traffic with elizabeth. >> fog is impacting the roads. this is a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza. it is really socked in once again. this is our second morning where it's difficult to see a lot of our traffic cameras, most bridges including the golden gate bridge this morning have fog advisories as well as stretches of highway 1 and 280 along the peninsula. we'll show you the foggiest spots coming up in a little bit plus we have roadwork, as well. >> okay, guys. thank you very much. it is 4:31. a developing story, a difficult story. a baby remains in critical condition this morning. the 1-year-old is just one of eight people shot in a hail of gunfire in west oakland. gil diaz is at children's hospital oakland with the latest on the victims' conditions and look at new surveillance video. >> reporter: i spoke to the

hospital security guard. he said he was not authorized to give us an update on the 1- year-old boy and referred me to the media relations spokesman who will be in later this morning. but yeah, he was rushed to this hospital, reportedly shot in the head. he was in critical condition. we have video of the shooting incident and we're told that this site was a music video -- rap video being shot at 7th and willow streets. you will see people standing around near a truck in the parking lot and all of a sudden people start ducking and running for cover, some of them under the truck. another person you will see fires back at the assailants and from a different angle you see in a different video. we see three people rounding a corner all of them wearing hooded sweatshirts and start firing at the crowd. now, one of the shooters stays in the front lines longer than the other two. all the victims rushed to hospitals before officers arrived. some of them to highland

hospital. oakland police say a lot of witnesses were at that site that night and they want them to come forward with any vital information. >> we really are asking the assistance of the community tonight to please get involved. we know that we had a lot of people out here it evening. there are a lot of eyes and ears. please come forward. >> and nearby businesses tell us that they heard between 30 to 40 shots ring out that night around 6:30. there are more than 50 evidence markers that we counted. no one has been arrested, no motives. police are looking for an older dark buick with three teenagers inside as well as a man in his 30s. the car reportedly fled west on 7th street towards the freeway. there's also speculation that that music video being shot at that park lot was for a local

rapper by the name of kafani. we checked his tweet. he claims that he tweeted that he was not shot, he did not shoot a video today but that the boy shot last night was his little cousin and for everyone to pray for him. back to you guys. >> gil, as far as we can tell, is this a random shooting or does it look like this group was targeted? >> reporter: there is speculation there may have been a rivalry between two rap groups, rivals, but we are trying to confirm that. >> how about the little boy? was he inside the house hit by a straight bullet or outside with these guys? >> reporter: we are trying to confirm that also because on that video you don't see a 1- year-old boy in that park lot or an adult with a baby so we are trying to find out where the boy was at the moment. was he at the scene or was he

across the street in a neighborhood and one of the gunshots hit him at that moment. >> so very sad. gil diaz in oakland, thank you. the man suspected of killing vallejo police james capoot returns to court this morning. 37-year-old henry albert smith, jr., could face the death penalty if convicted. he is scheduled to enter a plea today. capoot was shot and killed after chasing a bank robbery suspect in vallejo on november 17. he was a 19-year veteran of the vallejo police department. defense attorneys are expected to put former bart police officer johannes mehserle back on the witness stand in a federal trial this morning. kenneth carruthers from oakland is suing mehserle and some other officers claiming they used excessive force when they arrested him at a bart station three years ago. mehserle testified last week that he grabbed carruthers to keep him from hitting one of his fellow officers. a san jose police sergeant

reportedly had marital trouble before he killed his wife then shot himself to death. the bodies of he and his wife were found sunday night in their gilroy home. the wife may have been strangled friends said he was possess ever and she recently asked him for a divorce. the two teenaged sons were not home at the time. "occupy" protestors are planning a different kind of demonstration in downtown oakland today. they say they will reestablish around-the-clock presence at frank ogawa plaza in order have a central location for their movement. but they have no plans to camp out this time around. police have cleared the plaza twice in the past month. students at uc-santa cruz are still holding an administrative building on campus. 75 people stormed the building yesterday protesting the recent pepper spraying of students at

uc-davis and rising tuition costs. their cakeover coincides with the regents meeting. the regents decided to ask the state for more funding to minimize the fee hikes. the uc president is promising to wrap up an investigation of the pepper spray incident within a month. a few dozen protestors showed up at mission bay campus yesterday but were frustrated by the fact that regents weren't there in person, instead conducting their meeting by teleconference more campaign trouble for herman cain. a georgia woman says the two had a long-term affair. ginger white says the relationship went on for 13 years. cain made an appearance on cnn's situation room to deny those allegations. >> these are awkward questions but i'll ask you the questions. it was an affair? >> no, it was not. >> there was no sex? >> no. >> none? >> no. >> and if this woman says there is, she is lying, is that what

you? >> let's see what the story is going to be. >> cain acknowledged a friendship with the woman but says there was no affair between the two of them. well, tonight syracuse university plays its first home basketball game since an assistant coach was fired. the school fired bernie fine sunday night after a third allegation of sexual abuse and an audio recording surfaced. on that tape, his wife acknowledges the alleged sexual abuse while speaking with one of his accusers bobby davis. days of said he secretly recorded that conversation in 2002. fine denies the allegations against him. he is not charged with a crime. a private investigator has been fired in the case of jerry sandusky. he is accused of abusing eight boys. his lawyer says his client is conducting his own investigation with the help of a private investigator. sandusky is currently free on

$100,000 bail. michael jackson's family is expected to watch this morning as dr. conrad murray is sentenced for his role in the pop singer's death. murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter. experts testified he violated the standard of care by administering a drug in jackson's bedroom. prosecutors are see the maximum four-year term. the defense hopes for just probation. court time in l.a. at 8:30 this morning. >> thought it was foggy yesterday? looks worse today. >> couldn't find my car in the parking lot. >> i thought there was something wrong with my vision. >> i often feel that way. we are truly waking up in the fog this morning. around the bay area be very careful visibilities less than a quarter mile in many spots. sfo reporting less than an eighth of a mile. of course, we may see some travel delays there later on so dense fog advisory in effect until 9:00 this is morning then it should begin to lift.

eagle's parent companies are filing for bankruptcy protection. a-m-r and a-m-r eagle we have breaking news. american airlines and american eagle's parent companies are going bankrupt. amr and amr eagle holding corporations filed for chapter 11 this morning. the carrier reportedly lost $868 million in the first three- quarters of this year. both companies say they will honor all airline tickets as they go through the process. >> wow. 4:44 now. san leandro police say they have some critical information about last week's black friday shooting in a walmart parking lot. they are going to hold a news conference this afternoon to share that information. a man you may remember was critically wounded. the victim's family caught one suspect but two others ran away. a woman who pepper sprayed about 20 shoppers at a los angeles walmart may have been acting in self-defense.

this is cell phone video in last week. the "l.a. times" reports that the word from police after they interviewed witnesses, they are also going over security and some of the youtube video. the woman turned herself in on saturday and hasn't been arrested. today we will find out if cyber monday lived up to all the hype. a record-breaking number of americans was expected to shop online yesterday. preliminary numbers from ibm benchmark are promising. they show online sales are up about 20% over last year. earlier estimates predicted 123 million americans would shop online yesterday taking advantage of the post- thanksgiving bargains. federal investigators took advantage of cyber monday conducting a crackdown on counterfeit goods. they seized the domain names of 150 websites accused of selling counterfeit items including sports jersey, dvds, shoes and a variety of other items. most of those knockoffs were made in china and other

washington the second day of voting under -- welcome back. the second day of voting under way in egypt. polling places are busier than expected. yesterday some of the voters waited in line for more than seven hours to vote. and the proceedings have been peaceful despite the previous weeks' riots that killed dozen. they consider this a start of a new era at hosni mubarak was ousted in february.

this morningings the remains of an east bay marine killed in afghanistan are back in his hometown. thousands lined the streets in danville yesterday to pay their respects to lance corporal joshua corral. his body was flown to california on board a military plane that landed at travis air force base. corral died november 18 during combat. his funeral is tomorrow at 12:30 at the east bay fellowship church and it is open to the public. 21-year-old specialist sean michael walsh died from indirect fire. a friend posted this video tribute on youtube. his funeral will take place in saratoga on saturday. walsh is the second california guardsman killed in combat just this month. in weather, rare november snowstorm is hitting parts of the southeast. >> we have the fog. i guess we shouldn't complain. here's the scene.

this is jackson, tennessee. they don't see a lot of this. a winter storm warning in effect in west tennessee until noontime. forecasters say up until 4" of snow possible along with freezing rain and all the way through chicago and detroit. it's a mess. all we have is a little fog. >> my mom in alabama never gets snow this early. she has 2". >> she is chaining up, huh? >> freezing! >> i lived in the northeast for a long time. couple inches? kids stuff, no big deal. >> we have our own problems. >> i would like to see snow once a year. no shoveling. i'll be calling you guys if i have to shovel. >> my wife said wouldn't san francisco be pretty if it was blanketed with snow is this just one time. >> it happens every once in a while. around the bay area, no snow out there but we have some very dense fog so be careful again this morning. visibilities less than a quarter mile in spots. and looks like it is going to stay thick through about the middle of the morning then should begin to lift. want to let you know by tomorrow the fog is going to be gone. high wind warning going into

effect tomorrow morning as we are expecting some strong gusty winds especially over the mountaintops in the north and east bay hills. we could see gusts in excess of 55 miles per hour. some folks will lose power by tomorrow morning through the day tomorrow, i suspect. around the bay area today we have fog early on. getting ready for cloudy skies in the afternoon. temperatures mainly in the 50s and 60s. 30s and 40s in the valleys with dense fog, 50s and 40s inside the bay. a lot of high clouds yesterday were moving overhead across our skies but they have moved further south. that's the going to help us to clear things out as we'll see more sunshine to help mix out the low clouds and fog. computer models show clearing skies but high winds in the bay area tomorrow. temperatures in the 60s and south bay, 50s and 60s on the coastline, 50s and 60s on the east bay as well and looks like the temperatures will stay cool

around the bay area today. less windy and more sun on the weekend. that's a look at weather. let's check on traffic now with elizabeth. >> thank you, lawrence. i'm having a difficult time finding what cameras to show because everything kind of looks like this. this is the bay bridge. it's difficult to see the traffic in the cameras because of a blanket of fog. westbound 92 traffic, the drive time is okay, 13 minutes out of hayward towards foster city. this is milpitas. i did just do a camera change. westbound 237 and 880 socked in this morning. definitely the morning to slow down. if you are coming through the macarthur maze, i know it was a lot of heavy fog reported on 24 right where it meets up with 580. visibility only a couple of hundred feet in front of you.

they found that women in their 40s who had no family history of breast cancer were just as likely to develop invasive breast cancer as women with a family history. researchers say the findings indicate that women in this age group would benefit from annual mammograms screenings. so go to your doctors. and an ohio mother is arrange against her 8-year-old son being placed in foster care because he weighs more than 200 pounds. the average third-grader weighs about 60. ohio authorities say that they worked with the mother for months before they removed her son because of what they are calling medical neglect. one local experts says foster care is not the way to handle this. >> they are not equipped to address psychological problems. they are not equipped to address complex medical problems such as obesity. >> a third grader is not able to buy their own food so the parents have full control over what the child eats. >> the mother it ohio argues that the child does not face imminent danger due to his
