francisco sheriff is scheduled for sentencing today. kate is in san francisco where the next move is expected to come from the mayor. >> the sentencing is the least of the issues he will be facing today. after today, the sheriff to be walking along political tight rope. he will need to answer to the mayor who has been consulting with a city attorney on the steps needed to remove the share from office. things changed for the mayor when the sheriff pleaded guilty. >> did they do this out of legal convenience or was there some factual determination? >> prosecutors claim the sheriff bruised his wife's arm in front of their to year-old son during that new year's eve argument.

prosecutors dropped the serious charges in exchange for this guilty plea. the sheriff agreed to three years of probation, one year of counseling, parenting class is, and he will have to pay close to $600 in fines and he will be performing community service. it continues with the san francisco district attorney george gaston is came after comments the sheriff made to the chronicle last week, distancing himself from the guilty plea. he says that he will be bringing this issue up with the judge today. >> berkeley has a san francisco law firm investigating its police chief. the issue is the decision to send an army officer to a reporter to ask to make a change in a story he wrote. the oakland tribune reports

ski resort. he was in an expert ski area when he fell into a deep hole created by and under flow of water. a search continues for a morgan hill teenager who has been missing for three days. sierra will mark was last seen early friday morning around the area of her home. she never made it to a class at a high-school. authorities are not sure she is a runaway or a kidnapping victim. >> an airliner bound for hawaii had to turn around and land in san francisco after an engine failed on the airplane. the flight took off from oakland yesterday morning the reverse course over the pacific. an airport spokeswoman says the left engine failed on the boeing 767300. passengers were put on a bus and had to go back to oakland.

passengers 75 years or older will be allowed to wear shoes and white jackets as they go through security. it will also be able to skip the pat downs. it is part of a test program that will only be in effect at o'hare international airport, orlando and portland. if that program is a success, the tsa says it will be expanded. you're not the only one who checks your sheets in the hotel room for stains. apparently i should do this. the l.a. times reports 90 percent of people surveyed say they have checked their hotel rooms for cleanliness. of surprising considering 70% found something gross such as cockroaches and hair. travelers say they use everything from disinfectant wipes the toilet paper to clean up with the housekeeper may have messed. >> my wife brings her own sheets
