part of it is found unconstitutional. >> americans supporting and opposing president obama's health-care overhaul make their voices heard outside the supreme court as justices wrap up historic arguments inside. 26 states are suing, calling it unconstitutional for the government to require americans to buy health insurance. court observers say conservative judges appear ready to rule the mandate unconstitutional. justice anthony kennedy is considered moderate and could be the deciding fifth vote. he talked about how health care differs from other forms of congress >> that is different from what we have in previous cases. that changes the relationship of the federal government to the individual. >> roof bitter ginsburg is one of four liberal justices and she had this exchange with the solicitor general

a lot of people can relate to our situation. and it breaks their heart just like it breaks my >> several members of congress have called for the shooting case of martin to be investigated as a crime. the shooter has said he acted in self-defense last month. students protesting the shooting death of trayvon martin got a little bit out of hand in miami beach florida and. it started as a school walk out but that is when it veered off course. surveillance video caught 100 students or so stormed the store running up and down the aisles knocking things from shelves before leaving. police say one display was deliberately damaged >> people are ok after live electrical wires fell on top of it by us last night at state drive and park boulevard. fire crews were able to get passengers out safely and there's no word yet on what may cause the wires to come down

>> cleanup is underway after yesterday's heavy rain and strong wind. in marin county 8 tree came crashing through this column. it destroyed a portion of the house and crashed a car. >> i heard a sound that was like a jet plane and i said what the [bleep] was that and i thought it was an earthquake >> people were in that home at the time but fortunately no one was hurt. snow piled up over night in this year of leaving plenty of power. for some, the scheme for later in the season than they are used to. the snow kept many kids indoors. >> let's go ahead and take a look at the snow in the sierra right now. these are live pictures from nyack.

>> he took a couple of days off and bought lottery tickets but decided he had to come back to work >> there were no winners last night! it looks like a major part of the storm has gone by now. still some scattered showers around the bay area and that will continue on and off a especially through the morning hours. release them could downpour. in the east bay hills you can see some rain showers continue to move through the oakland area stretching up towards a walnut creek. more rain in that direction as well. we will see that on and off throughout the day and to the sierra nevada is getting hit by more snow. behind that maybe a little bit of a break but we're not done which the stormy weather yet. 65 in livermore, 59 in pacific that and 62 in san francisco.

the next few days the rain will move a little bit to the north. return to more rain for the entire bay area as we head to the weekend. >> we do have snow chain requirements at all the major routes to get up to the sierra including 80 and 50. a little bit closer to home, here is a look at the golden gate bridge and you can see that the roads are still slippery. you can see some cars making splashes as they head towards the page. all of the wind advisories have been canceled this morning so that will not be an issue. here is a live look at the san mateo bridge. it looks like a 13 or 14 minute drive out of hayward. we do have some emergency were going on in sonoma. they have had to close the road because of flooding. highway 121 shutdown between highway 16 and highway 12.

we will let you know when they reopen that road. the south bay looks great, no major road work and a lot of green on the sensors. your drive times in the east bay, all in the clear as well. no delays and no problems coming down the east shore freeway. mass-transit is looking good as well. >> we bought tickets also but sadly we did not win the mega million drawing either. the jackpot is now an astounding $476 million, nearly a half billion dollars. >> kate is outside where one ticket won thousands of dollars, a lot of money >> clearly we went live from the wrong spot yesterday because if we had come here maybe we would have got a piece of that

lottery. if your waking up in mill valley and you have been to jolie king liquors, you might want to stop your on your way to work because one person who bought a ticket here will get at least $300,000 because the park has grown to $476 million. that is the largest in the game's history. in 2007 a product at 390 million and that was split between a resident in new jersey and one in georgia. we're hoping maybe it lucky california resident will get a piece of that. somebody who bought a ticket here needs to stop by to see if they have earned just about $300,000. i believe about 47 tickets were sold that had five of the six men and numbers and nine of them were in california. the way it works in california is they are paid on a mutual

>> a controlled burn may have started a colorado wild fire that has burned down at least 23 structures. authorities say the fire may have caused the deaths of an elderly couple. the fire has forced residents from 900 homes to evacuate. residents in other homes have been word and to get out at a moment's notice. >> investigators are trying to figure out what led a captain aboard a commercial airliner to begin acting strangely including yelling and banging on the cockpit door. the scary incident was captured on video. >> terrifying moments aboard what should have been a routine flight from new york to las vegas. this remarkable video shot by passenger shows several people rushing to subdue jet blue 191 flight captain who had begun acting erratically and yelling incoherent comments about needing to get the plane down

fraud allegations against california's democratic campaign treasurer. he defrauded at least 50 candidates. out of $7 million. the alleged scheme dates back more than one decade. there is some speculation a plea deal could be in the works but prosecutors would not confirm that. it looks like newt gingrich campaign is becoming bareboned. the republican presidential candidate is cutting one-third of his staff and is asked his campaign manager to resign and plans to rely more heavily on low-cost social media to reach voters. he is also cutting back on traveling to primary states and instead will make phone calls. he and ron paul are trailing badly in the race for the gop nomination. a new poll shows six out of 10

republican voters want them to drop out of the race. the mitt romney campaign is learning a tough lesson on a big issue, cyber crime. the campaign confirms laptop computers and ipad containing sensitive information's were stolen from a rental car last week. staffers believe that that was not random but not politically motivated >> a half million dollars of taxpayer money down the drain. the state is pulling the plug on one of its biggest technology projects ever. they decided to scrap the court management system. the initial cost was to read $60 million but it ballooned to almost 2 million, 2 billion. time now is for 46, a gun goes off in the bay area classroom, just missing a student. why police are upset about what the school did next >> it has shattered all

front is headed further east so you will not see the really strong gusty wind that we have had. we will see scattered showers continuing on and off throughout the morning hours with some pretty good downpour. a pretty good cell in walnut creek and it continues to show up around much of the bay area. if you're headed out the door, plan on some showers this morning. as we look towards the afternoon we will try to watch the clouds part just a little bit but still a chance of showers. upper 60s in some of the valleys. that system coming through is moving to the east and you can see the cold front has moved just to the east. behind that, another system off the coastline so we will keep things on settled. beginning to taper off as we head to the afternoon. the clouds will part just a little bit so we will sneak more clouds over night.

even tomorrow there is a slight chance of showers mainly north of the golden gate bridge. showers in to sacramento, bring snow chains if added to the high country. about 66 with showers in fresno. looking out over the next couple of days, i don't care what the calendar says, it is still winter in the bay area. most of the showers will stay north of the bay area in the next few days but another system will drop in. it seems like as soon as we got to spring it switched back to winter and it has been fun. >> as soon as i got here! >> there were 35 straight days of rain, a tsunami, and today's of snow when i got here so welcome to california. >> we do have snow chain requirements in a fact if you

are planning on heading out of town a little bit early so grab the snow chains. you need chains on interstate 80, highway 50, highway 88, basically all the major routes. the wet weather has caused a few issues. how we won 21 is shut down between highway 16 and highway 12. no estimated time on when they will be able to reopen that stretch of road. here is a live looked at your slippery conditions all across the bay area. no major issues on the roadways this morning so overall it looks ok across southbound 11. in fact, all of the wind advisories for all the bridges have been canceled this morning including one for the san mateo bridge so this is the commute direction, this is east bound 92. everything looks good across

the span. the south bay, you can see a lot of green on our sensors like we usually see this time of the morning. there is no major road work out there and nothing really to slow you down. same thing for the drive times in the east bay. it looks great for richmond and berkeley. in the meantime mass-transit looks good as well. a quick reminder, our radio partners can give you all the latest information once you hit a road at 106.9 fm. >> after a cheating scandal rocked the s.a.t. the last year, the company that administers the test announced some new security measures. the major changes that students will need to submit photos of themselves when registering for the test. this also affects students taking the act test as well

>> police are still trying to find a gun that was often a classroom in the oakland high school last friday. the bullet barely missed a girl who was sitting next to the student who's gonna apparently went off accidentally. the 16 year-old begged her teacher not to call police and she didn't of a policy says she should have done so immediately >> she was still standing with the student and teacher next door told me the student was still there and a teacher was there with the student so i quickly called the police right then. >> police say the call was made more than a half-hour after the shot. by the time police arrived the student had left. he was caught off campus and arrested >> other stories around the bay area, and in the bay area for a gilroy family, victims of a murder-suicide. investigators say an iraq war veteran had been showing signs

of posttraumatic stress disorder. they believe he killed his mother and sister before taking his own life. plans to host one of the biggest sailing races in the world will move forward for san francisco. supervisors approved an agreement yesterday that finalize the venues and also calls for $20 million to be spent on pure and waterfront improvements. the races are expected to draw more than 1 million visitors. >> scientists might have discovered a new way to fight cancer cells. researchers found that a certain antibody can slow the growth of tumors. normally a protein prevents cells from attacking the tumor but now researchers say an antibody can block the protein helping the immune system to destroy the cancer cells. they found the process tested on mice work on all kinds of different cancers and now they need to figure out how it will

work on humans. british researchers tested the effects of the herb called time on acne and they found it was the most effective. it also outperform concentrations of the ingredient used in most anti acne creams. chilly peppers might actually be good for your heart. a study found that the ingredient that gives cayenne peppers and other peppers' their heat can actually lower cholesterol and improve heart and blood vessel health. it is already used in creams to treat arthritis and some other types of paint >> fresh and easy wants pink slime. they're holding a swap meet today, referring to the ammonia treated filler reportedly found in 70% of supermarket ground beef. customers can bring in fresh and frozen beef from any other
