believed. yesterday, the search for the gun turn up empty. police got a tip from a homeless man who said he saw a gun in a garbage can from five blocks from where the shooting took place. police searched but there was no gun. now we are learning firsthand as what would happen when the shooting started from the dean of students. >> i heard a lot of gunshots, 5- 6, and i was trapped in the area so i went in a room, turned off the lights, lock the doors, and took out the battery from my phone and i lie down on the floor for around 14 minutes. >> he managed to escape unharmed. cbs five is staying on top of this developing story. you can always get the latest updates on cbssf.com >> suspended sherrif ross mirkarimi is back in court today

second straight weekend. volunteers are asked to register at the burnett elementary school before the search begins tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. >> a bicyclist is allegedly blocking his version of the events after fatally hitting a man at market and castro street. a pedestrian was killed while in the crosswalk. the cyclist. allegedly posted the account hours after the crash. he broke on the blog, at the light turned yellow as i was approaching the intersection but i was already way to committed to stop. he went on, i could not see a line through the crowd and i couldn't stop so i laid it down and plowed through the crowded crosswalk in the least populated place i could find. cbs legal analyst paul henderson says the statements could point to negligence. >> something they have done or judgment may have been exercised that was on reasonable that it alludes to criminal negligence >> anderson added that since the

jose. the next couple of days, more sunshine coming our way but there is a chance of showers late in the day on sunday at least in the north bay. let's look at roads with elizabeth >> we're already waking up to a couple of incidents across bay area roadways. it sounds like a car hit a deer and had a couple of lanes blocked. we will let you know if they have cleared it to the right soldier. once you get past that exit and everything looks good all the way down towards the golden gate bridge. if you're traveling along the peninsula and the millbrae on ramp to northbound 101 remain shut down until about 6:00 this morning because of a road hazard. it appears not to be affecting the freeway. we have a couple of high wind advisories in effect.

says the last two days to register to vote, may 21st, the last day to request to vote by mail ballot is may 29th. rick santorum has reportedly met with conservative leaders in an effort to stop mitt romney from getting the gop nomination. the ap says the plan includes pressuring newt gingrich to drop out of the race. many conservative republicans have long believed their voter base is diluted biceps splitting between mitt romney and rick santorum which has allowed romney to accumulate more than half the delegates needed for the nomination. the other republican candidate ron paul drum up support in berkeley yesterday. he addressed a yawn and raucous crowd over at uc-berkeley. he sat down with doug sovereign

work on the millbrae ave on ramp to northbound 101 until just about 6:00 this morning. it is not impacting the main freeway at all so when hundred one and 280 look pretty good this morning. at the bay bridge, no major delays behind the 88 gates. we have some high wind advisories from the chp on the bay bridge and the san mateo bridge but no major issues. there was overnight road work in the westbound lanes of highway 4 near railroad. they may have picked up a little bit ahead of schedule. it looks good all the way through antioch. here is a live look at those lane changes across the golden gate bridge where you can see they are opening more southbound lanes of traffic heading into san francisco.

lee west would is continued the best player to never win a major. a seattle dog eats her owners masters tickets. he used an extreme measure to get them back. the dog ate pork tickets and they are very hard to get a hold up so the owner fed her some hydrogen peroxide that made her sick. she threw up the tickets, he put the scraps together and lucky for him the tournament organizers agreed to reissue in new tickets. >> that is going to extreme lengths to >> he could have waited to get them the other way. probably not a good idea >> i don't want to go there at 5:00 in the morning. in the next half-hour is a mac attack >> how hackers have disguise the
