jailhouse interview with the man charged in the oakland massacre. what he wants everyone to know. good morning everyone. >> take out the umbrella, the storm we have been talking about is here >> this was the worst commute ever, i spent the night in my sister's house and coming from treasure island two san francisco was unbelievable >> it is truly a downpour out there. the core of the front is sitting across the bay area right now. if your head around the bay area, be very careful this morning. it is just really headed in your direction in to sunnyvale. we're starting to see some heavier amounts of rainfall there and it will be pushing in to san jose in the next few minutes. a little further north, look at this line of red right here,

that is in very heavy rainfall stretching from concord into danville. brain is tapering off in parts of the north bay but it is a fast-moving cold front sliding through right to obama creek. be very careful on the roadways. behind the cold front it looks like it for part of this morning we will be it in shower mode so things will settle down just a little bit but there is still more rain on the way and it looks like things are staying and settled for the foreseeable future so we will see some very mild temperatures outside with numbers in the '40's and '50's right now. the very heavy rainfall and dangerous on the roadways >> it is a mess out there already and it is a little bit scary at times when you run into pockets of heavy rain and you never know when you hit a puddle in the roadway. here's a look at the golden gate bridge and traffic is very light. we do not see any major accidents so far this morning

but we do have several wind advisories including one for the golden gate, one for the richmond san rafael and one for the bay bridge. we do see some flooding in that usual area near lucky drive so be heads up about that. a live look at the nimitz three oakland, so far your drive time is in the clear. coming up we will look at mass- transit because it is always a good option and maybe even a better option this morning. >> developing news out of fairfield, a late-night bar fight ends in gunfire killing one man. officers got calls about the fight just before 9:00 p.m.. officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds, a 29 year-old man from suisun city died at the scene. officers say it looks like two

groups got into a fight in the bar and it ended up outside when someone took out a gun and started shooting. >> we're looking for the suspects, we believe there are at least two of them involved. we have leads in the case based on witness information as well as video surveillance. >> last night's shooting marks fairfield seventh homicide of the year. >> the man accused in a murderous rampage at oikos university is telling us he is sorry. he is currently behind bars. he says he does not expect forgiveness and he broke down in tears as we talk to him face to face in an exclusive jailhouse interview. >> ever since last monday's mass killings, the accused killer has not talked to anyone publicly about what happened. he agreed to talk to cbs five

during a scheduled jailhouse visit. when i asked him if he is remorseful he said without hesitation, i am sorry but said that the word is not help. he says families are so angry with me, if i tell them i'm sorry it doesn't bring anyone back. i asked him to tell me what happened the day of the shooting. he told me " i only remember parts of that day and it is too hard to talk about ". he has a public defender and told me " i have only talked with my lawyer about the details of that day. he said, " i want to see my family but i think they don't want to see me, i am not sure ". he kept putting his head down into his arms during our conversation. he spoke clear english despite reports he had trouble with the language. he is a naturalized american born in south korea and he told me " i was going to be a nurse,

i was studying to be a nurse but it didn't happen ". he said, " it is complicated to explain ". you also told me " i don't trust people, they can save one thing but think something else ". the day of the killings he reportedly showed up to the school with a semiautomatic handgun looking specifically for an administrator who was not there. in our interview, he said " you never know what you'll do one day or what your mind will do ". he looked sad and put his head down repeatedly as if he was ashamed. after our 15 minute conversation he said that is all want to talk about. and started to cry. he is allowed minimal visits. i was in a room with other people visiting other inmates at the time were also behind a glass partition.

a have a choice whether or not to except a visit or interview and he accepted our request. his next court date is at the end of the month which is when he is expected to enter a plea. >> a victim's family is reacting to what goes said. the husband of doris chu vu oikos says he is not telling, buying his story that he only remembers part of the day. he says his wife's killer is the furthest thing from his mind. >> i don't have any reaction, in my mind he does not exist now. i'm trying to comprehend the fact that my wife will not be coming home anymore. i'm not thinking about him. >> the family now needs a church or a large hall that can accommodate up to 1000 people for immemorial scheduled for later this month.

you can read the full interview, go to cbssf.com. >> the search for sierra lamar is going on line. the missing girls family says there is an official web site dedicated to the search and return of the teenager. the website find sierra lamar dot com will post resources. family friends and community members can leave messages on the site and there will be updates from her family. underwater search and rescue teams are revealing sonar images taken from reservoirs' in the south bay, looking for any suspicious objects. police believe the girl was kidnapped about one month ago while walking near a bus stop in morgan hill >> pour weather stops north korea from launching a launch range rocket today. the rocket was injected with fuel earlier this week but north korea says it is simply sending a satellite into space.

it is said the launch violates a u.n. order for the ban in north korea from developing its nuclear missile programs. >> a un backed peace plan required syrian government forces and opposition fighters to end the violence by 6:00 this morning. there were some reports of explosions in a town close to the lebanon border after the deadline but there are no reports of any injuries. >> surveillance video is raising new questions in a fatal bicycle crash. a source told us that the video shows the cyclists speeding through the intersection last month hitting a 71 year-old man. the suspect blog about the crash describing a crowded crosswalk but the video only shows three or four people crossing the street. authorities have not charged him. the biggest construction

project in the south bay breaks ground this afternoon extending bart to sanford's san jose. it 10 mi. of track will be laid on an existing railway to connect san jose with fremont. construction on the fremont side is well under way and when completed the tracks will run underground in some places and elevated in others. >> bart will either go under or over any major intersection. we are phasing the construction projects the note too intersections will be impacted at the same time. >> new bart stations at milpitas and berryessa will complete the new space. it is estimated to cost $2.1 billion. >> the damage after a tornado touches down in northern california. >> we filed information charging

of any given case >> zimmerman faces life in prison if convicted. >> state lawmakers want more power for university police departments after this happened. lawmakers say that uc-davis officials must be held accountable following the release of that pepper spray report that concluded that the incident could and should have been avoided. lawmakers are not sure yet what kind of legislation could be written up. john edwards says he is ready to fight, is criminal trial is moving forward today. he is accused of inappropriately using money to hide his pregnant mistress during his bid for the white house. jury selection is expected to get underway this morning in north carolina. if convicted he could face up to 30 years in jail.

ron paul may like mitt romney but don't expect him to endorse him anytime soon. he says he will continue to campaign because his supporters just don't want him to leave the race. he hopes to collect more delegates at the convention in august >> a new plan will offer thousands of jobs to san francisco teenagers and adults. the mayor will rollout the job program this summer. at least 5000 new positions will be available for youth ages 16-24. it covers openings in government and private but that business. the measure was approved to raise more than $2 million to support city youth job programs. double check your car seat this morning, a new study shows a lot of parents have trouble installing child safety seats and it is not operator error, your car may be to blame. hardware may block the

>> beverly hills police officially ruled out foul play in their investigation into whitney houston's death. authorities just released the 911 call from her hotel room two months ago. >> apparently she wasn't breathing >> that is a security worker on the phone with a 911 dispatcher. coroner's officials have ruled the singer's death an accidental drowning with heart disease and cocaine use listed as contributing factors. we've heard more about the stage collapsed last summer at the indiana state fair. the findings of two investigations will be released later today. it happened right before sugar land were set to take the stage. seven people were killed and dozens of people were injured as a storm came ripping through the

fair grounds >> cleanup continues in the central valley after a tornado touched down. it was spotted near the town of way for up. the national weather service says an actual tornadoes hit near stockton with wind speeds up to 90 m.p.h.. here is some of the damage that was caused. debris landed on a boat parked in somebody's yard. there were reports of power lines down but fortunately, no injuries were reported. >> these kinds of storms are fascinating to watch >> as long as they're not overhead >> you don't realize how powerful they are until you see this kind of video >> we actually have five-six tornadoes per year but ours are very small compared to what you see in the midsection. >> we have a lot of heavy rainfall right now, a very

we're not done with a rain. another system is coming our way for friday, something similar to what we have this morning showers throughout the day. a lot of people will sleep right through this but as we get to tomorrow morning, here we go again. a lot of heavy rainfall showing up around the bay area again. temperatures running in the '50s and '60s by the afternoon. more rain expected as we head towards tomorrow morning and then partly cloudy skies and warm weather with temperatures in the '70s on monday and tuesday. heavy rainfall out there right now. coming and i think i ran over a milk carton and a wire hanging down from a house. in need to be very careful this morning >> as he mentioned, maybe if you

don't need to be outside this morning, maybe you can wait it out. you never know when you hit a puddle in the roadway so we're getting several flooding reports including up and down the nimitz. apparently there is flooding in that area and also near lucky drive in marin county. this is a look at the golden gate bridge where there are wind advisories in effect. the issue one for the richmond center fell bridget and also the bay bridge. conditions are very slippery and it is a pretty messy start to the morning commute. apparently this is an overturned crash with two blocked lanes. westbound 580 as you make your way towards broadway. westbound 24 in the lafayette area, a car hit the center divider and we will likely see

opening day. his family says the long trip back and forth to the ballpark might be problematic for him. he is still recovering and continuing his fight to stand on his own or even start a conversation. the giants are coming off a bad loss at the rockies. they allowed 17 runs last night, seven of them came in the fifth inning. it was tim lincecum shorter start of his career, just over two innings. the final score was 17-8. they will play the final game of that series this afternoon before heading home for the home opener tomorrow. the a's beat the royals in 12 innings yesterday. the royals closing pitcher brill the batter to load them up and on the very next pitch he hits another battered and that was the game winning run. the no. 7 seeded sharks are set
