barricaded, a bizarre chain of events after a very deadly shooting. >> good morning everyone. it is friday the 13th. >> the timeout is 430. wind rain and lightning passing through the bay area. what weather is still sticking around this morning. the thunder kept me up last night >> i need to apologize already, i am a little tired today but there is no way you can sleep. what a night. some reports of over 200 lightning strikes around the bay area and that is amazing. look at the cell that is moving by, strong storm started at about 7:00 last night with reports of impressive pale. almost a quarter inch size tail at my house and that is the biggest sale i have ever seen in

california. plenty of rain fall this morning but it looks like the brunt of it is in to san ramon and concord. a lot of heavy rain coming in to antioch. san mateo, plenty of rain now. heavy at times into redwood city and much of the south bay is seeing showers all the way down to campbell. be very careful, very slippery out there. >> once again it is kind of a messy morning commute. when not see any major accidents outside but that is not because the conditions are not dangerous. there is a lot of water in the roadway. high wind advisories in effect for several bridges including the golden gate and the bay bridge. be extra careful. we are following and mudslide blocking one northbound lane.

we will follow that and let you know if it is causing any delays. >> we will continue our coverage of the crazy weather. >> and is down at sfo where a plane was hit by lightning. >> they're not used to dealing with lightning year at sfo and luckily, no one was injured but lightning did hit the airplane and it had to return to the terminal. take a look at some of the video we shot. you can see quite a light show was put on by mother nature. lightning hit the united airlines jet that was headed to london last night and forced the flight to return to sfo. no injuries to report. it was a boeing 777 carrying

258 passengers and a spokesperson says there will take off for london later on today. here is video that a viewer shop for us in pacifica. some lightning strikes caught on camera and the east bay is dealing with it as well. when i was driving here down to the airport from san francisco, there were a couple of incidents of hydroplaning that i had so be careful out there. we hope to catch some of the passengers on the flight later this morning. >> hundreds are waking up with no power, pg&e says bad weather

is causing outages in the bay area right now. between 700-750 customers in concord are affected and power is not expected to be restored until 7:00 this morning. over 2000 customers in the bayview district were without power but pg&e says they should be fine now. look at cbssf.com and click on whether >> the whereabouts of a suspected cop killer are unknown this morning after a fire burned in modesto apartment where he had barricaded himself for much of the day. firefighters were able to put out the fire just before 2:00 this morning. police say they are still waiting for the fire seemed to be declared safe before they can go in to look for the suspect. stanislaus county sheriff told the modesto be the cause of the fire is unclear but/paging devices in teargassed could have been factors. it began yesterday morning when

a sheriff's deputy was shot to death while trying to serve an eviction notice. another man was also killed which led to a standoff involving swat teams that went on for almost 11 hours before the building burst into flames. the deputy was killed has been identified as robert paris, a 16 year veteran who is being remembered fondly >> he looked after people, you generally cared about those who live around and those were in his life. >> the other victims name has not been released yet but the other man may have been a locksmith. people living in the area were evacuated early and a shelter was set up at a nearby church. in new hampshire a standoff ended this morning in the town of greenland after the police chief was shot and killed during a drug raid. four other officers were

wounded in last night's shooting. to remain hospitalized. the police chief was planning on retiring in less than two weeks. >> a fire broke out at the chronicle phillips oil refinery in rodeo just after 1:00 this morning. the fire could potentially put hazardous materials in the year. crews reported no chemicals after doing tests. searchers will be under water again today looking for clues in the disappearance of sierra lamar. yesterday they searched the muddy waters of chess for zero reservoir and nextel will look at the loss resin or 7 mi. away. lately the search has been focused on five objects out found with sonar. the diving team is not being specific about what it found.

as manuel gallegus reports zimmerman is being kept away from other inmates >> george zimmerman may soon ask a judge to let him out of jail. his lawyer says a bail hearing will be held a week from today. zimmerman was charged with second-degree murder for the shooting of trayvon martin. the 20 year-old is being held in a 67 square foot cell. he cannot watch television but has access to the commissary. this receipt says he spent more than $80 on soap, playing cards, and snacks. the attorney says his client is scared >> now that he knows he is facing charges that could put him in prison for life, how could you not be frightened? >> keys being held in an isolated cell. officials say he's being kept away from the general population because of the high-profile nature of the case. simmons' lawyer says his client will plead not guilty.

bridge, the weather is sticking around for the commute and we will look at the weather in a couple of minutes >> and oakton business owner is accusing the city's police department of not properly investigating an armed robbery at his store. he says his surveillance equipment recorded the crime at his market three weeks ago. he says officers took the report but so far have not looked at the video were taken in as evidence. he says his store was robbed again this week. oakland police would not discuss the case with us on camera but they say the office are likely left without seeing the video because there was another robbery in progress elsewhere. they also say the market employees originally could not access the video when officers ask for it. u.n. security council is holding an emergency meeting following north korea's failed rocket launch.

water in the courtyard and then the fire truck showed up to help me pump it out >> there was a similar problem in that area three years ago. people who live and work around their say they were told the pipes were fixed but it looks like they need more work. >> it might get even worse today because of more rain. frank told me to say something about the turtle neck. in severe weather turtle neck is what he is calling it. >> the rain continues to fall outside. what a night it was. a tremendous amount of lightning. be very very careful traveling around the bay area with water on the roadways. some very heavy rainfall as we take you further inland and it will continue to be that way

over the next hour or so. it looks like the rain is continuing this morning and then it should begin to taper off as we head through the afternoon. still the possibility of an isolated thunderstorm. and i think things begin to settle down but what a storm of was. heavy storms developing out there, a severe thunderstorm moves through the bay area producing impressive hail. the weekend is looking good but the system sliding through right now will make things ugly if you are traveling. we have the giants' home opener coming up and is looking good towards the afternoon. there is a chance of showers but it does not look like a rainout. through the night tonight things will be settling down so partly cloudy skies over the weekend. today, temperature's mainly in
