controversial law this morning. they're speaking out against the so-called show me your papers law aimed at undocumented immigrants. the supreme court will take up the issue deciding if law infringes on federal authority over immigration policy. it requires police to question the person's immigration status that they believe a person was here illegally >> i believe it is simply too damaging to the economy and dangerous to democracy to have 50 states do in 50 different things with regards to immigration policy. >> other states including alabama georgia indiana south carolina and utah pass similar laws and they're all on hold awaiting the supreme court's decision which is not expected until late june which will be right around the time that the general election is gearing up and you can be sure that will be

a hot button issue. the group says it is holding demonstrations to protest the cost of higher education. they called it a one trillion dollar day estimating that this is the date that the los gatos union school district is expected to close lexington elementary school because of concerns about earthquakes. plans have been abandoned after geologist not confirm the seismic stability of the site. >> the last we heard of mad cow disease was 2006 when 150 people died from the outbreak in the uk. the problem has resurfaced again. an infected dairy cow was found in the central valley.

>> this particular case of mad cow disease was found by a stroke of luck and the usda shows that it system is working. the cow was part of baker commodities, it is taken to a facility is slated to be turned into pet food but it was randomly selected for testing and one day later the disease was discovered. health experts say that humans were never in danger because no dead cow is ever made for human consumption >> this particular animal did not enter the food supply at any time so there's no concern about that. >> testing of a cal is like testing kindergartners for alzheimer's. that is not where you find a >> mad cow disease is fatal to counts and it can be deadly in humans. if they eat the tainted beef.

health officials are stressing and reminding people that this animal never made it into the food chain and before you throw out any products, know that you are safe. >> there could be another try today to remove that large fishing line that is attached to the gray whale. rescuers cut some of the line from the whale but now it has been spotted in monterey county off the coast and it is heading north. this morning is expected to be in the monterey bay. crews hope to get close enough to finally until some of the fishing line and set him free. >> it does not look as impressive today, yesterday we were talking about rain. it does not look like it will
