the ipo did not go exactly as planned on friday. the chief executive of nasdaq says it was a design problem with their technology that resulted in that glitch in the ipo offering. mark zuckerberg rang the opening bell for the stock before trading on friday morning. facebook stock was supposed to start trading at 8:00 a.m. pacific time but it did not until 832. the ipo price on the first day was $38. it went as high as $45 but closed at $38.23, gaining six tenths of 1%. an analyst says that facebook will appeal to many investors. >> certainly a lot of retail investors are buying facebook and it appeals to them because they know it well but institutional investors will look at it as a court tech holding >> overall friday nasdaq lost

about 35 points. the ceo says the exchange's hundley embarrassed by the problems friday and do plan on making some changes. the securities and exchange commission said they are investigating. >> the final voyage of the uss iowa has been delayed because of a storm approaching the west coast. the battleship was supposed to leave richmond yesterday and then head south to l.a. but rough seas made organizers nervous about going to big battleship out to the ocean and now the crew is standing by so the trip can begin on four-six hours notice. when it finally does arrive in l.a. it will be rededicated as an interactive naval museum. and occupy activists is due in court today, charged with five felonies accused of throwing bricks and metal pipes from the roof of a building on turks

street may 1st. one of the bricks hit a protester. charges include assault with a deadly weapon. >> it is day two of the nato summit in chicago. today the president and other world leaders are expected to reaffirm their commitment to have all nato combat troops out of afghanistan. they've also been discussing how to help finance afghan security forces after that year. nato estimates security will cost more than $4 billion per year in the afghan government will only be able to pay about one half billion. the conference is growing thousands of demonstrators. yesterday 45 people were arrested in what is being called one of chicago's largest protests four years. some refuse orders to vacate the site which resulted in clashes with police. anti-war activists in berkeley show their support for

counterparts in chicago who are protesting outside nato meetings. occupied the bridge began yesterday with the unfurling of a giant banner over interstate 80. they called for peace across the world especially afghanistan >> after the conference the president will head to joplin misery, a city still recovering from a deadly tornado, more tomorrow marking the one-year anniversary. this evening, the president will deliver the commencement address for the students at a high-school. the school was so destroyed that some class's have been held at temporary locations looting a converted retail building. the suspended presidential campaign of new gingrich is almost $4.8 million in debt according to a new report filed with the federal election commission. $1 million is owed to a charter airline company. the campaign also owes money for security services and public

overnight road work. northbound highway 80, 23rd avenue on ramp is blocked until about 5:00 this morning. in the northbound lanes of 880. this is the fog we have been talking about across the golden gate bridge. traffic is still very light but where you see the drive time you will find some more roadwork from sir francis drake all the way down to sausalito. ongoing work in those lane scheduled to wrap up by 6:00 this morning but they have been reopening lance definitely ahead of schedule. >> from asia to the u.s., millions of people watched as a ring of fire eclipse appeared in

the chp hopes witnesses will come forward after a bizarre accident in belmont when a 19 year-old san jose man was driving along highway 11 while shooting video of about 20 motorcyclists. investigators say he lost control and ran into two of them. after that, some of the bikers turned on him >> punched on their head and he was threatened with a knife >> the driver and two of the bikers were taken to hospital with minor injuries. the chp says so far there's not enough evidence to charge anyone for the beating of the driver who has been cited for driving while distracted >> this morning a jury will deliver, continue deliberations in the trial of john edwards who pleaded guilty to six campaign finance charges and a cover-up of extramarital affairs during his campaign for the white house. if he is convicted, he faces up to 30 years behind bars >> honoring a new jet music

a french prosecutor has opened a preliminary investigation against domenic strauss conn. earlier this month judges in north france asked for the investigation. the allegations are connected with a rape reported during a sex party in a hotel. three climbers are dead and two others are missing on mount everest. about 150 climbers reached the top during a break in the weather over the weekend but three died on the descent, believed to have suffered exhaustion and altitude sickness >> italy's government has released extra money to help thousands of earthquake survivors he spent last night in makeshift camps following a 6.0 earthquake. hundreds of historic buildings were turned to rubble. 11,000 people are still not allowed to return to what is left of their homes. the man convicted in the lockerbie bombing has died nearly three years after being

tablatures start to cool off after a gorgeous weekend. outside we have some dense fog showing up around the coastline. the roadways are a bit wet so watch out for that. temperature's mainly in the '50s. we're still finding some eighties in the interior valley. breezy and cool towards the coast line. what pressure headed towards the bay area. the shadow there was actually eclipse. it looks like we will have cooler temperatures on the way and probably some windy conditions. we may sneak a little bit of sunshine in towards the coast but the temperatures will be down. a lot of seventies in the south bay. 82 in morgan hill. about 62 and breezy in pacifica. seventies and low 80s by this

afternoon. 69 in oakland, 59 and some fog in daly city. the wind will be kicking up throughout the better part of this week and next weekend high pressure builds in and we will start to warm backed up. >> things are looking pretty good at the bay bridge toll plaza. no delays or advisories. to the maps, lee you have some areas of overnight roadwork including in the east bay between high street and embarcadero. it is likely wraping up right about now. southbound 880 looks pretty good this morning all the way down to the oakland airport. elsewhere, this is the fog that lawrence has been talking about.

a few headlights' there is southbound traffic making its way to doyle drive so we do still have some overnight roadwork between sir francis drake all the way down toward sausalito. this is ongoing roadwork they have been doing there as well as ongoing road work in the south bay. a lot of the connector ramp 7 closed until about 6:00 or maybe a little bit earlier. so far everything is good to go for mass transit >> a lot of money is going into the campaign for a proposition on the june ballot. prop. 29 would add $1 to cigarette tax in this state.
