campaigning in florida he stopped at big apple pizza and ended up getting more than just a pie. giving the president a bear hug, scott, owner of the pizza shop said he's a registered republican who plans to vote for president obama. >> i don't vote party line. i vote who i feel comfortable with. i do feel extremely comfortable with him. >> reporter: he's a voter in a key battleground state. >> florida is always close. >> reporter: and president obama spent the past two days there trying to drive home his point that romney's economic plan is short on details and will hurt the middle class. >> they couldn't answer questions for how they will pay for $5 trillion in new tax cuts and new defense spending without raising taxes on the middle class. >> reporter: romney won't say which tax loopholes he'll close to pay for his tax cuts, but he insists the middle class won't shoulder the burden.

long as he doesn't try to carry him out. >> that could have been bad. we were all just thinking about that. thank you so much. since the campaign began, romney has promised to repeal the president's overhaul hearth law. romney said he would keep some key parts of the overhaul. >> there are a number of things that i like in health care reform that i'll put in place. one is to make sure those with pre-existing conditions can get coverage. two to assure the marketplace allows for individuals to have policies that cover their family up to whatever age they might like. i want individuals to buy insurance, health insurance on their own as opposed to only being able to get it on a tax advantage basis. >> romney said that's consistent with his daily position. president obama got a bump coming out of the democratic convention. the president holds a five-point lead over romney. another poll shows the president with a four-point advantage.

>> this morning for the first time in 25 years, school teachers in chicago's public schools are on strike. talks between the teachers union and school board broke down. more than 26,000 teachers and support staff are expected to be on the picket line instead of the classroom. critical issues include standardized testing, teacher evaluations and the cost of health care. >> we have failed to reach an agreement that will prevent a labor strike. this is a difficult decision and one we hoped we could have avoided. >> this is a strike of choice. and because of how close we are, it is a strike that's unnecessary. >> both sides say they are willing to resume negotiations today. the strike will affect 400,000 students. exclusive interview with scott pelley, one of the navy s.e.a.l.s who killed osama bin laden said the mission was not an assassination. mark owen is a s.e.a.l. that

tomorrow marks the 11th anniversary of the september 11th attacks on the same day the 9/11 museum was expected to open in lower manhattan. but as anthony mason reports it's opening is being delayed by a dispute over money. >> reporter: every day people line up to see the memorial, 4.5 million visitors in the past year. they come to see the pools where the twin towers once stood. to touch the names of the victims. what they cannot visit is the 9/11 museum. alice greenwald is its director. >> it's a place where the story will be told and without the museum the memorial is incomplete. >> reporter: once it is built, the museum is where visitors will see faces behind the names. their personal momentos and relics of that tragic day.

billions to rebuild this site with a new train station and the tallest office building in the western hemisphere. the vice chairman said the agency is concerned about the financeses of the museum and memorial foundation. >> it's about do we have the money now to finish where we are, and do we have a plan in place to ensure that it can be sustainable financially going forward. >> foundation officials say they can handle their $60 million annual budget. just as they raised $450 million to build the memorial and museum. 9/11 family members, like charles wolf whose wife died in the north tower said it's shameful that the museum is not open. >> vast majority of us that i have spoken to or heard from are disgusted. disappointed and disgusted. >> for now only a few 9/11 artifacts are on public view. in a visitor's center.
