we could find out today if san francisco is one of the candidates and the city presents a formal plan to make a presentation to the nfl to be the host of super bowl 50. today the warriors plan to present a proposed drawing of their arena in san francisco. the arena would be situated on the far outer edge of piers 30 and 32. the idea is to make the 135- foot tall arena appear smaller and create a sense of open space. and the giants started off on the wrong foot last night in

figure out who shot and killed two people around 5:00 yesterday evening on buchanan road and ventura drive. a man was declared dead at the scene and a second female victim later died at a hospital. doctors say alcohol and horseplay landed a teen in the hospital. 19-year-old tyler glenn fell three stories from his apartment yesterday. he hit his head on the pavement but was conscious after the fall and is in stable condition this morning. bart service is back to normal after coming to a screeching halt last night. a man was found walking through shortly before 7:00. all trains headed east were stalled.

>> police found the man and arrested him. it took about an hour before trains were up and running again. a stabbing at the 49ers game sent a sacramento man to the hospital, two men going to jail. police say the 27-year-old victim was outside candlestick park when the suspect start add fight. the victim was stabbed in the torso but is expected to survive. today state colleges in san francisco face a deadline to produce an action plan. the school's plans to lay off faculty, increase workweeks and cut salaries were approved. it has to address deficiencies or the school could have to close its door in this june.

and space shuttle endeavour is home after the 12-mile trek through l.a. to the california science center. take a look. welcome ceremony. look like just partly cloudy skies in the valley now, temperatures at 56 degrees in concord, 56 in san francisco and san jose 54 degrees. we had a weak system moving over, leaving us with a couple high clouds and most of the rain will be eureka northward. high pressure is going to set itself up. today not bad, some 80s in the valleys, a lot of 60s and 70s out near the bay, getting even warmer with 90s coming up as well. let's look at traffic. we have a lot of fog to deal with. if you're about the hit the monday morning drive, you can see this here across the bay bridge and looks okay approaching the pay gates with no delay. san mateo bridge looking okay as well. right now everything is quiet

results of the race for supervisor. the first time preliminary voting will be made available on election night. previously they waited to make the election counts. families of 9/11 victims will have a chance to watch hearings in cuba for men charged with the terrorist attacks, including the self- professed master mind of the attacks. the sessions are closed to the public but relatives can register to see the hearings at military forts in new jersey, massachusetts, maryland and brooklyn. the 14-year-old pakistani girl shot in the head by the taliban was flown to an undisclosed location in britain and doctors say they are

some scary moments at a fireworks show in china. shells landed in the crowd and investigators are still looking for the cause. one office teen man rose to the edge of space, stepped off and set a world record in sky diving. >> 43-year-old felix baumgartner went up 24 miles and leapt into the record books. he's the first man to break the sound barrier in a free fall. >> as a young guy sitting next to me and asking for advice, it's because he wants to break my record. >> it took less than 10 minutes and he reached speeds up to 800 miles an hour. i was glued watching this.

now, it will crank up the temperatures. we are expecting that offshore temperature clearing out the skies all the way to the coastline. mid-80s in sacramento today, partly cloudy skies into lake tahoe. around the bay today, 77 san jose, 75 san mateo. very nice day as we head through the latter part. we have 60s out toward the coast, 68 in san francisco and warm 81 in santa rosa. we heat things up with the offshore wind and out at the coastline, mid-70s out toward the beaches then a slow cooling trend heading toward the weekend. now let's check traffic. it's all about the fog. we have a couple fog advisories in effect. these are chp-issued fog advisories. there is an official advisory for the golden gate, really

thick there coming into san francisco. to the other maps and westbound highway 4, we like to show you this. so far it looks okay. eastbound is fine, nothing any major road work around the area. 181 and 280 moving just fine, fog causing delays out by sfo but not impacting the drive on 101. drive times for the east bay, not bad as you can see, westbound 580, 14 minutes there, free and clear hayward to downtown oakland. 880 farther south, so far looking good. once again, this is a live look near the oakland coliseum, so

cbssf.com/gas. some experts warn gas prices could get worse because of increased environmental regulation. the state's low carbon fuel standard forces fuel producers to lower the carbon intensity of the gas by 10%, expected to do that by 2020. they can add biofuels but supplies are tight, making it more expensive. >> that's a far more complicated process to essentially get to the ultimate product that you want. lastier a federal judge blocked the new standard, saying it interferes with new commerce. a state safety inspection reveals the same cause for two recent fires, chevron's new refinery documents show

unchecked corrosion was the common factor in two incidents. fires broke out in august and october of this year. officials say they found nothing unusual. 7 more cases have been reported in the meningitis outbreak, bringing the total to 205. they are linked to tainted viles of pain-relieving steroids. 15 people have died and 14,000 more are at risk now. the outbreak has been reported in 27 states. a a peanut recall is due to an outbreak of salmonella poisoning. sunland products are sold at trader joe's. 35 illnesses across 19 states have been reported. it is 4:50.

researchers in texas looked into the link between obesity and cancer and found that fat tissue feeds cancer. they monitored overweight and regular mice fed with the same diet. they found the fat cells in the overweight mice formed blood vessels bringing oxygen and nutrients to tumors, helping them grow. and a new study says since 2006 health officials recommended 11- year-old girls receive the hpv vaccine. and kids who get less than the recommended amount of sleep are more likely to be cranky. children ages 7 to 11 who slept 54 minutes less were more

months ago. cheetahs are one of the world's most endangered big cats. neighbors in the community of gold river called for help when a deer was caught struggling in a canal. >> crews used a river rescue raft to chase the animal for more than an hour. rescuers couldn't catch the frightened deer. once he got tuckered out, they brought him out of the water and up to safety. >> i'm just really impressed with everyone, that they came out and put the effort forth to rescue this deer. >> that animal will be checked for injuries before being released. it is 4:56 now. are south bay residents put at risk because of pension reform?
