n the bay bridge. isn't that cool. very slick lights they're setting up right now. chilly in spots. we see fog in the interior valleys 38 in concord, 49 in san francisco. and these temperatures this afternoon going to be something else. we'll talk more about that. right now how about, elizabeth. a live look at the south bay, 101 at the trumbull exit, a lot of record work in the east bay, and we'll talk more about that, where the roads are closed. in the meantime, frank back to you. 4:31 more fallout from that antigay comment from the san francisco 49er player. michelle, i know he apologized yesterday but now they have a ground breaking video involving the team that's no longer available online and that's causing a bit of a brew ha ha as well. >> reporter: it sure is and we're wondering if that's going to be a distraction for

i couldn't really hear him, but hey, guess who he's rooting for. >> it was joe montana and e he bumped into him on bourbon street. he's won four super bowls and i think he knows what he's talking about to say the least. >> reporter: i think so too. >> and you were showing us abides, you talked about the -- beads, you talked about the floats and what are the signs that new orleans is kind of changing from mardi gras are right now and really turning into a football town, at least for a couple more days. >> reporter: yeah, they are turning into a football town. we've seen more and more fans come out here, so i have to tell you, though, even though football is just a few days away, mardi gras is not a distant memory. we've seen a lot of beads in the street. and the mardi gras flavor is still here. after the super bowl is played on sunday, of course mardi gras is going to pick up again until

fat tuesday on february 12th. >> that monday should be fun right after the game. >> how about football fans, are you starting to see more 9ers fans and ravens fans milling about on bourbon street and the lot. >> reporter: we have seen a lot of fans but there are not as many fans as we thought there would be and that may be because it's so expensive to fly into new orleans right now. it's also a little expensive to stay here, definitely, in the hotels so we've been looking for those 49 fans and there were some we ran to. they're waiting for others in the bay area to e show up and show their pride in new orleans, but this is the super bowl we're seeing football fans from across the country. we talked to a guy who's a 49ers fan from connecticut. he didn't even live in san francisco. local businesses are waiting for more football fans to show up and of course start spending a little cash.

49ers fans, like i said, they're still making their way to new orleans. now they're helped out by an airline, and cate cauguiran has more on that. good morning. >> good morning to you, it's going to be another big travel day for bay area locals trying to make their way to new orleans. they want to get there for the big game and with the large amount of people trying to get over to the big easy, flights were hard and expensive to come by. now, to accommodate for 9er and super bowl fan dom, southwest announced earlier this week that the airline added extra nonstop flights to new orleans from san francisco and baltimore. throughout the week, 9ers fans have flooded sfo, and they were not hard to the spot. >> it's a lot of excitement. it's about time. we're ready to go. >> a very long time, 18 years and this is our time. this is our year. this is our moment. this is it. >> reporter: i checked in with airport staff who say today they have just their regular line up of flights to new orleans and i also did a search for how much it's going to cost you if you wanted to get on one

of the nonstop flights to new orleans today and it's going to set you back about $1500 if you're going to fly with united. they have one nonstop flight that's going to be departing at 3:00 today. reporting live from sfo, cate cauguiran cbs 5. >> maybe we'll see more 49ers fans out here in new orleans counting down to super bowl xlvii of course on sunday. let's get a check on the weather in the bay area. hey, lawrence, i don't know how it is there, but here it's warming up. >> is it, okay. all right. it's not too bad here. it's been great, nearly 80 degrees since you've been gone. we've all been out at the beach. it's been wonderful. when you come back, things are going to change. we have some hazy conditions out there. some fog showing up in the valleys. some 30s and some 40 early on. high pressure building in overhead, but it is going to set the stage for a great weekend. we haven't seen the 80s but we've e been getting close to 70s in the afternoon hours and today will be no exception.

these numbers running well above average. the temperatures staying mild in the 50s and 60s. we're going to stay above that again. 67 in santa rosa and 66 in san jose. more on your weather coming up. right now check out the roads with e elizabeth. we have areas of overnight road work. they have spun the camera slightly so you can see the westbound and the westbound lanes and it looks -- eastbound lanes and it looks pretty good. no major road work and no metering lights to show you down. other bridges have areas of overnight road work, that's another look at the bay bridge toll plaza. let's look at the maps, three left lanes are blocked on northbound 680 until about 6:00 this morning. fortunately it's still early. nice and light not causing any delays. stop and go on the dumbarton bridge. westbound 84, road work has been picked up. golden gate bridge nice and quiet.

back to you. developing news this morning in turkey. explosion at the us embassy has killed two people there. police say a suicide bomber blew himself up inside a security check point at a side entrance to the embassy. a private television station is reporting that two security guards were killed. one journalist saw a woman with injuries being carried into an ambulance. when we get more information, we'll pass it on. less than an hour from now, we'll get the january jobs report are from the labor department. economists are predicting the unemployment rate will hold steady at 7.8% and expect 150,000 new jobs were created last month. they are blasting president obama for disbanding the jobs council he created two years ago. it hasn't met in more than a year. >> we hear, you know, some of the somewhat criticisms about this. they come from people on capitol hill who have

return of normal weather and. looks like out here we're looking good. lots of sunshine. above normal temperatures today no exception. out there, a little hazy in spots and we are seeing valley fog showing up inland, the temperatures in the 30s and the 40s by this afternoon. get a load of these numbers, upper 60s in spots. inland 70 degrees. 60s out toward the coastline. mid-60s inside the bay. high pressure overhead, the jet stream well to the north. no through the of rain just yet. we're going to keep things nice and dry, maybe slightly cooler on saturday. a great weekend ahead. by sunday we start to warm things up once again. 64 in sacramento. 48 in lake tahoe and 52 in yosemite. if you're traveling around the bay it will be a nice one, 67 in morgan hill 67 in san jose. and east bay temperatures running in the 60s. mostly sunny skies this afternoon and as you get inside the bay, those temperatures running up into the 60s outside

look very very nice out there as we're going to see plenty of sunshine all the way to the coastline. next couple of days, we have plenty of sunshine for the weekend, maybe a couple more clouds looking nice and dry through monday and tuesday and the latter part of the week we could see rain. >> why are you looking at me like that. >> because i'm talking to you. let's talk about what's going on, not a lot of accidents, we have a lot of road work, not across this stretch. this is a live look near the dublin interchange, westbound 580 approaching 680. so 4:46 this morning everything is cruising along. to our maps, this is where we're seeing overnight road work, in the east bay, northbound and southbound 880 both directions between 980 at high street closer toward the oakland coliseum. should be picking up in the next 15 minutes. more road across the benicia

bridge that's going to be out there for a little while longer and both directions of the dumbarton, the westbound 84 road work should be picked up by 5 eastbound. that's sticking around for another hour or more. golden gate bridge traffic looks fine heading toward san francisco. 580 to the golden gate bridge toll plaza, 14 minutes there, and b.a.r.t. no delays so far. everything looks good. we had several b.a.r.t. delays yesterday. so far nothing should slow you down heading toward downtown san francisco or toward the east bay. let's check traffic. today is a big day for hillary clinton, her last day as secretary of state. she will have a meeting at the white house and say good-bye to her staff at the state department before departing. john kerry will be sworn in later this afternoon as a private ceremony at the state department. today marks the 10th 10th

anniversary the shuttle columbia disaster that killed 7 astronauts. it was gliding back to florida when it broke apart due to wing damage that occurred during launch. a remembrance is planned in florida. at least 25 people are dead from explosion at the pemex headquarters at mexico statim company. more than a hundred were injured in the blast. rescuers worked to free people trapped under the rubble. officials say they don't snow what caused the blast but know it originated in the basement of a 52 story building. the man behind manti te'o's fake girlfriend hoax says he did it because he was in love with the notre dame line backer. ronaiah tuiasosopo telling dr. phil he knew the hoax was cruel but he developed feelings for the notre dame football player. >> i grew feelings, i grew

partly cloudy skies there. the storms have moved out and nice weather coming our way for the super bowl. partly cloudy, 63 degrees. getting ready for r sunday. let's take a look outside. if you're heading to work this morning, this is what it looks like, pretty quiet on the bay area bridges, golden gate bridge and san mateo moving at the limit. nasa taking to the bay area skies to find out what's in it. several aircraft took off to collect data on air quality here. yesterday it flew over pollution hot spots like spots interstate 680. and where the dirty air is coming from and where it's going. and the nudity ban goes into effect in san francisco. nudists plan to protest and will do it all natural. they hope to get cited so they can claim their right to pro test is being violated.

a judge dismissed a lawsuit by the nudists trying to overturn the ban. a federal court monitor says the oakland police department's reform effort continues to backslide. the monitors new report finds the second straight quarter, the department is declining in terms of performance and is true when it comes to investigating complaints against the department and report the the misconduct of fellow officers. you might be wearing something special for super bowl sunday, and a lot of plans and players have superstitions that they say can affect the outcome of the day. >> i promised i wouldn't get another jersey until we win another super bowl. >> how old is your last jersey. >> 94, 95: >> i guess the most outrageous example is a baseball player who said he'd been wearing the same athletic supporter for four years.

oh, you've walked into just a classic new orleans french quarter style home. the home itself is over150 years old. i did a little research and it turns out that tennessee williams when he first came to new orleans, he stayed here for about a week, and i found letters with the return address having our address. probably the favorite part, no doubt, the balcony. this is a pretty wide balcony as far as balcony's go in the french quarter. to be on a quiet part of this street is amazing. i feel like i'm in europe on this block. it's amazing. >> reporter: those letters she was talking about: tennessee williams actually wrote those letters to his mother just going on and on about new orleans and how beautiful it was and the climate and the people and, hey, i got to tell

one. i think they had dinner wednesday night in new orleans, but finally the two brothers, jim and john are going to be side by side at a joint press conference later this morning. that should be fun. >> reporter: no kidding, i like the idea that they'll be together on the podium. it should be interesting to see what they have to say when they are together and that news conference is scheduled for later this morning, 6:30 california time. again, cannot wait to hear what the two brothers have to say. now, as we've been saying all week, this of course marks the first super bowl with two head coaches who are brothers. so pretty cool, pretty emotional as well. and in just a few hours, at a downtown hotel, they will share a podium at their team's final media session before that big game. like i said on monday jim harbaugh told reporters that it's "a blessing and a curse to face his brother on the field "along with all
